All month long our staff leaves thank you notes for each other on a bulletin board. At the end of each month we collect all of the notes and randomly select one person to highlight (and give a little something to)! Today we are happy to be able to better serve the needs of the community and be open extended urgent care hours Monday-Friday. We will also now have urgent care seven days a week!

We are thrilled to announce that starting November 4, 2024, we will be extending our hours to provide urgent care visits 7 days a week! This exciting change allows us to better serve our community by offering immediate care for unexpected illnesses or injuries.

As of November 4th, our new urgent care hours are:

Monday-Friday: 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM (Urgent care will be available both during business hours, and after other services end, from 9pm-11pm)
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Sunday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Please note that these extended weekday hours from 9:00 PM – 11:00 PM are specifically for urgent care visits only. All other services, including pharmacy and pet resort needs, will continue to operate during our regular business hours:

Monday-Friday: 7:30 AM – 9:00 PM
Saturday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Sunday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
For urgent care visits, please call ahead and reserve an arrival time. We can be reached at 410-633-8808.

Urgent care has been in high demand so we’re incredibly excited to be able to better provide this much-needed service to our community, ensuring that your pets have access to quality care when they need it most.

We’re also pleased to introduce Dr. Hanum Wensil-Strow, our new full-time veterinarian. She will start working with us fulll-time as of November 1st!
Dr. Wensil-Strow will oversee our urgent care department. Dr. Wensil-Strow brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for urgent care and emergency medicine, and we are confident that your pets will be in excellent hands.

Join us in welcoming our newest doctor and director of urgent care, Dr. Hanum Wensil-Strow! Dr. Wensil-Strow grew up in Elkridge, Maryland and attended the University of Maryland followed by the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation she completed a mixed animal internship at Alvarado Veterinary Clinic in Texas before returning to the Philadelphia area to practice. She previously served as the Co-Medical Coordinator of Emergency Services at Absecon Veterinary Hospital and was an adjunct professor at Delaware Valley University. After moving home to Maryland, she started with us part-time while she helped a friend open an emergency hospital in D.C.. She now serves as the head of our urgent care. In her free time she enjoys traveling, reading, trying new restaurants, and baking. She shares her home with her husband Jeff and her Beatles themed crew (Penny Lane, Eleanor Rigby, I am the Walrus, and Father McKenzie).

Today starts National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our hardworking and passionate friends at BARCS Animal Shelter for all the work they do.

BARCS, located right here in Baltimore, is the largest animal shelter in Maryland. They take in over 10,000 homeless animals each year and work tirelessly to find them new homes. From providing medical care to rehabilitation and adoption services, BARCS goes above and beyond to ensure every animal in their care has a chance at a better life.

We couldn't be more grateful for all that they do for those animals most in need of some TLC.
