ELLIE BEAN PUPDATE: Ellie is still battling this vestibular disease. You can see here how her head is still really cocked to the left. It seems her progress is kind of stalling for now. She still circles left and needs help with balance while walking. Fortunately her appetite is still normal as are her potty breaks and still does her potty kicks and pillow fights, which are always good to see cos that is two of the little sloth’s very few activities so if she isn’t doing her potty kicks or pillow fights then we know she doesn’t feel well. So even though progress seems to be stalling at least she is letting us know she feels ok. We have added a holistic vet in the mix and she has started Ellie on aqua puncture and a Chinese herb so fingers crossed 🤞🤞She’s had one treatment so far and we’re going to go every two weeks for a bit and see how it works out. 🤞🙏
#stillslothin
If anyone would like to contribute to Ellie’s aqua puncture it would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you so much. 🙏❤️
ELLIE BEAN PUPDATE: Beanie is still battling vestibular disease but she is making progress…slow but still progress. To see her make straight passes is wonderful. She still has head tilt and still will list to the left and circle left but she can also go straight now too and if she falls she can get pop herself right back up. A few weeks ago she would not have been able to this well on a lead. She is still getting chiro and acupuncture every two weeks and she never lost her appetite. She’s eating great just like normal. She’s come a long way from when it first hit her but she still has a ways to go. We just hope her progress continues.
P.S. Yes we still have hurricane boards up. We thought another was coming but I think we may be good.
And the winner of the 50/50 Raffle is... Pamela Adkins who purchased ticket number 85. She won 50% of the raffle ticket sales for a prize of $383.
Thank you to everyone who supported BTRFL through this 50/50 Raffle. $383 in ticket sales and an additional $$399 in donations to BTRFL were raised to help BTRFL provide vet care for the dogs in our care. That is a grand total of $782!
We appreciate you all playing a part in helping to rescue Boston Terriers in need!
Ellie PUPDATE 6
ELLIE BEAN PUPDATE 6: EVERYONE!!!!! I know this is a longer video but there are some definite signs of improvement I wanted to show. Ellie is tired of being cooped up in her safe area and it appears she may have a bit more stability so it’s giving her the confidence to try and roam around a bit, especially in the house where she is on level ground. You can see her ACTUALLY FIND THE MOMMA at around mark 2:00 after she made a left turn and you can also see her roam a little bit with more stability even though she is still stumbling left and then actually find her favorite kitchen rug to lay on. Then she did a normal Ellie Bean sloth behavior when she did her slow motion sloth lay down on her favorite kitchen rug. Any normal behaviors from before the vestibular disease showed up is so good to see. I can’t tell you how good it is to see her do her slow motion sloth lay down, that is so Ellie Bean. You will also see a couple times how she turned her head from a tight left all the way to looking straight ahead…still cocked left but to see her have some control is so good to see. I know she still has a good ways to go BUT these are definitely signs of improvement from where she was a couple weeks ago, wouldn’t you agree?
Keep those prayers coming 🙌❤️❤️

Ellie Bean PUPDATE 5
ELLIE BEAN PUPDATE 5: Guess who felt up to pillow fighting? Miss Bean! She is still very much tilting her head to the left and turning left and losing her balance with vertigo BUT to see her in the mood to pillow fight was VERY BEAN if you know what I mean so that was great to see. She had her chiropractor and acupuncture yesterday and also had a sub Q fluid bump and ear cytology that came out negative. This time they said she will go back in two weeks for next chiro and acupuncture. We are still doing her positional exercises, lots of neck massage and gentle neck stretching to the right so she doesn’t get bound up tight to the left. Still good appetite too.
So she’s hanging in there!
Thank you and prayers still welcome ❤️👍
ELLIE BEAN PUPDATE 4: Well it’s hard to be totally sure because improvements are slow and small but we think there are a couple tiny steps of progress. It seems like she may be holding her head a bit higher rather than low hanging the whole time. We also notice she is making an effort to look straight ahead and she’s made a few right turns. She is still tilting left 99% of the time but hopefully these are positive signs. She is able to stand steady and move a bit of a turn on her own as you can see but if she starts walking she still will go left until she falls if we don’t brace her. Today has been a full week so in that respect I do feel like there’s some improvement but she definitely needs more time. Keep the prayers coming and her next chiropractor and acupuncture appointment is Tuesday for those who would like to contribute to her care we thank you so much ❤️🙏
Ellie bean PUPDATE 3
ELLIE BEAN PUPDATE 3: Well…Miss Bean has minor improvement so far but we’ll take anything. Her back and forth eye movement has stopped so that is good but everything else is the same. Her head is still tilting to the left, vertigo, drunk walking. She still circles left but she actually has made a couple right turns and some good straight lines but inevitably circles left and loses balance. If we don’t hold her steady she will definitely fall. She still is eating good and taking her meds good and doing the positional exercises good. Her next Chiropractic and acupuncture appointments are Tuesday.
I sure hope she can come out of this, I know some comments have said it was short lived but others say it lasted a long time. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and support 🙏❤️
Ellie Bean PUPDATE 2
ELLIE BEAN PUPDATE 2: Ellie Bean had her appointment today. She had a sub Q fluid bump to make sure she isn’t dehydrated, she got her ears cleaned out and checked for infection, she had acupuncture then a chiropractic neck adjustment. They were closing so somehow in the rush we didn’t get the ear results so I have to call about that in the morning. I’m assuming negative since we weren’t given meds but I’ll call to be sure. She has to go back in a week for another acupuncture and chiro session. She is still leaning and circling left and drunk walking but her eye movement is definitely slower. Hopefully we will see more improvement in the coming days 🙏 We are still having to brace her while she goes potty or she’ll lean and circle left til she falls BUT bless her little heart she still tries to do her potty kicks after she tinkles ☺️ Thank you everyone for praying for and helping our sweet little sloth ❤️
ELLIE BEAN PUPDATE: Well we need Ellie Bean’s prayer warriors on board please. Out of the blue Ellie started turning EXTREME LEFT and her eye was rapidly ticking left right left right back and forth constantly and she was completely losing her balance like a drunk person. Turns out she has developed Idiopathic Peripheral Vestibular Disease. This can happen when inner ear crystals move out of place. Humans can also develop this. For now we are doing positional excercises several times a day to help but we are also going to try chiropractic adjustment and some acupuncture. The vet says we should see some improvement in several days so fingers crossed for our little sloth. She’s made it through so much we hate to see her have to go through this too. She does still have her appetite fortunately. She can’t be left alone for now, she’s just not able to walk with all this vertigo hitting her. Please send prayers her way and of course any help is always much appreciated 🙌❤️ THANK YOU!
