postsurgery
Candyland had surgery yesterday to have her eye removed due to cancer. She is the first of the four cats we have in our program that need eye surgeries. You can see how well she is doing in the video her foster took when she got home. Please note: if fresh surgical scars bother you, you might want to skip the video.
We so appreciate all of you who have donated to help these cats! We have raised enough to cover Candyland's surgery! Thank you!
We still have three more cats that need specialized eye surgeries. Can you help?

West Update
West is our cat undergoing the exciting new treatment for FIP. It is typically 84 days of treatment and West just went in for her check as she is close to 84 days. The good news is West has responded really well to the treatment and is so close. The bad news is her blood results weren't quite what she needed to stop treatment. She has also developed some sores (very common) from the injections so now requires pills. Each pill cost $12. She needs to take 6 a day. That means her daily treatment is now costing $72. The manufacturer of the medication we are using is covering 1/2 the cost of the pills for us since she is going past the regular 84 day mark. That will bring her treatment down to $36 a day (still a substantial amount). This does not include her bloodwork she now has to get every two weeks or the ultrasound we have to continue to do monthly. Can you help West? Maybe cover one day of treatment with a $36 donation? Ochiba update
Ochiba does not like her eye drops (who would) but all she does is a lot of wiggling to try to avoid them. She is such a good girl. I was feeling like a bully as she didn't want much to do with me after the drops (she gets them 3 times/day). Tonight, I think she realized they aren't that terrible. She purred afterwards and got back in my lap. She is such a good girl.

Valor Update
We have great news! Valor went for his recheck on Thursday. Drumroll please...Valor's splints are off and he can stand and walk on his own! It looks like he may not need the tendon release as the splints may have been enough to stretch the tendons! Bloodwork is pending but things are looking really good for this boy. A huge thank you to all of his supporters! Thanks to you his vet bills are covered. We will keep you updated.

Happy Tales Update:
We were Maisie's last chance. She was brought into the Emergency Vet with a severe lower extremity fracture that required surgery by a specialist. They had already called several agencies and no one could take her. Our answer, of course we would take her. Maisie had surgery at Oregon Veterinary Referral Associates and had not only pins but a plate put in. She needed to be kept quiet for 8 weeks so she stayed in a kennel at my house so she didn't injure her healing leg. She got to come out and walk around with supervision only. Maisie made a complete recovery and this sweet girl was adopted by a wonderful person who loves her very much. She later even got a new cat friend, Millie, and they get along great. Her adopter has been keeping me updated since she adopted her in 2015. We love when adopters give us updates by the way. Just got this adorable video and had to share.
Awe Update
This girl is really starting to show who she is. While the fact that she was so traumatized makes me feel so bad for her, I'm focusing on her healing. They are so resilient. She is starting to do what I call flirting to get me to pay attention to her. I am so falling for her and I know she is going to make someone a wonderful, sweet and fun companion ❤
PS she has the hiccups 🥰
Awe Update
So tonight Awe got all the way in my lap to have her churu! I can pet her forehead and cheek (two of the pleasure areas for cats). I have started moving around the room with both the churu and her tuna and then calling her to me. She will run to me to get her treat. I also held the churu next to and then in the carrier to start making positive associations with it. It worked because afterwards, she went back to the carrier and rubbed on it and stuck her head in it. She now follows me when I leave the room and then jumps up in the window to watch me leave. It is adorable. She also is playing up a storm after she eats. Oh, and as I was preparing things, she rubbed against the back of my legs! The video is a few nights ago when she started putting her front legs on my leg while she ate her churu.
Awe Update
First of all, though I initially wanted to change her name to Audrey, it doesn't fit her. Awe is definitely her name.
She now gets down and comes towards me when I go in the room. She is also starting to talk to me.
This morning she took tuna from my hand!
Just to remind me not to get too excited, she hissed at me when I tried to give her a treat while she was sitting in the window. What that showed me was she felt cornered and vulnerable in that position. I think she would make faster progress now in a home where she had more interactions but at least she is safe in our office and making progress.
