Shadow, Mojo, and Kiss are officially part of the PupPals program 🎉 any dog can become part of this AKC program for free! Any breed, mix breed, and age can do this for free and help a child in need 💗 A "PupPal" provides the AKC with a picture of the dog and a little information about the dog's interests. The AKC then sends children in need a note from your "PupPal" with their picture. These are children usually struggling with an illness, loss of a loved one, or missing a deployed parent. What a fun and easy way to give back, check it out!

I thought I'd share some articles explaining the concern of using laser pens with dogs. Everyone is doing the best they can for their dogs, this is just some info and links for those looking for more resources on the matter. Of course not every dog is going to develop major problems playing with lasers, but the risks far outweigh the benefit. Its impossible to know which dogs will have problems until it's too late.

Some dogs, especially herding breeds, have high prey drive to chase things. Toys and treats can be physically caught whereas lights cannot, so laser games can be extremely frustrating for our furry companions causing anxiety and obsession with lights and shadows. Many dogs will continue to search for the light, even after the game is over. Far too often we see dogs become reactive and obsessed with lights and shadows and will chase them at any risk, injuring themselves and requiring calming medications throughout their life to curb this behavior (The dog pictured here is trying to bite his shadow). I have seen dogs surrendered to animal control and even euthanized because the dog became so light obsessed the family felt helpless. I highly reccomend against using a laser pen with dogs.
