We always have Lovebirds in stock! The green/red bird is called a Peach-Faced Lovebird.The black/yellow bird is called a Fischer’s Lovebird. There are 9 total species of lovebirds. We mainly carry Fischer’s & Peach-Faced. They come in many different vibrant colors 🎨

Did you know Birds by Joe’s parrots were used in the filming of “Boardwalk Empire”? 🎥 We traveled to an old castle in Pennsylvania for a 12 hour HBO shoot. They had an antique cage so we had to modify a java tree stand to fit inside. We brought macaws, conures and a jardine’s parrot! 🦜 Swipe to the end to see the exact scene the birds were in 🎬

A gorgeous Lutino Cockatiel just arrived at our Green Brook store! Lutinos are often referred to as “pikachu birds” due to the orange circles on their face ⚡️

We always have a wide selection of cockatiels at Birds by Joe. Some of the mutations we carry are white-faced, lutino, pied, pearl, albino and many more. Gotta catch em all! 🐣

Pellets are a balanced, nutritionally complete food that can provide the vitamins, minerals, and balanced fat content that birds need. They can also have a better ratio of calcium to phosphorus and vitamin A levels than seeds, which can help with reproductive health.

Many birds don’t like eating pellets, especially if they weren’t introduced while the bird was young. You can try a 50/50 seeds and pellets mix or you can try grinding them up and sprinkling them over seed.

Some say that pellets are not a good choice for birds with unusual nutritional needs, such as those that are raising babies or have hormonal issues. For example, some processed diets may have too much protein for lories or too much iron for toucans. It’s important to build the diet around that specific bird’s needs. If you’re unsure on what to feed your feathered friend, you can always consult your local pet shop!

Having a hard time getting your birds to take a bath? Check out our selection of bath sprays, shampoos, shower perches and bird baths!

Giving your parrot a bath every once in a while is important for many reasons. Removing dirt and dust from their feathers encourages them to preen, which helps preserve their natural shine. Bathing also keeps the skin hydrated, which can become dry and itchy in indoor environments. It can also be a fun activity/bonding experience for you and your feathered friend!

You can shower with your pet, let them dip in the sink, or use a misting bath spray as seen above. Most birds will bathe themselves in their water bowl, but it’s still important to give them a full cleaning regularly. We recommend you bathe your bird at least twice a week so they can remain as shiny and beautiful as when you first got them!
