Our Goffin’s cockatoos are almost weaned and look great! Also known as the Tanimbar corella, this species is the smallest of the white cockatoos at about 12 inches long from head to toe. They have a reputation for being very playful and affectionate as well as being quick learners. We just got this beautiful Hyacinth Macaw in at Birds by Joe Green Brook. This species is native to central and eastern South America. Their scientific name is “anodorhynchus hyacinthinus”, with a mass of about 2.6-3.7lbs as an adult. With a length of about 3.3 feet, they are longer than any other species of parrot as well as being the largest macaw/largest flying parrot. This lovely Rose Breasted Cockatoo just arrived at Birds by Joe! It will be hand fed for the next month or two until it is ready to find its new home. Also known as the Galah Cockatoo, these unique creatures are the only member of the Eolophus genus. They have strikingly beautiful pink and grey feathers unlike most other white cockatoos. Galahs are very fast and even acrobatic. They can fly up to 43mph and have no problem doing the loop-to-loop and dodging tree branches.
