A Message from Forever Faithful Owner - Rita Mashak
Hello, this is Rita Mashak owner and operator of Forever Faithful Pet Crematory, a week ago on Monday, November 20, 2023, a Good Samaritan “thief” took my old cat Sleven to a vet clinic and had him put down. Sleven has been our cat for 17 years. In 2021 after having his teeth cleaned by Red Hills, oral cancer developed, and he had it removed in the fall of 2021 at age 15. The vet said it would return and they could remove the mass again. We had opted not to put him through surgery again and the mass began to grow. Sleven was on comfort care and living and eating well. Sleven has been an indoor/outdoor kitty and has not left our yard for over a year. So some well-meaning thief did not report him to the animal shelter. She robbed Sleven of dying at home and robbed the family of being there. I would not have had him euthanized. We have had cats for 19, or 20 years that quietly passed away at the home they were born in. I feel violated that this person did not have the decency to find the owner. She took Sleven not to his vet clinic. You would think that the vet clinic that she took him to and not being the owner would have some type of process when the owner is not known- call our shelter. We could have shown Sleven’s medical history and we knew that he had limited time on this earth. I went to pick up Sleven at the vet clinic and asked to speak with management about what had occurred with Sleven. They said I could have him and that he was unhealthy and that they put him down. I told them I knew that he was unhealthy and he was my cat. They said it was time to leave and I was physically pushed out the office door where I was handed Sleven. So the thief that took my cat did not do the humane thing. I can’t imagine the fear Sleven went through in his final hours and the way they treated the owner was appalling. Sleven was robbed from dying in peace in a strange place and we are robbed as a family. Yes, I am angry- that this thief should have not had the right to euthanize my cat. Sorry, I could not rescue you Sleven this is not how we wanted you to go.
