When your friends go to KS over Christmas break, stay at your house, and pick the girls up at the kennel to hang out and go hunting. We’re forever grateful for our group of amazing friends who treat our dogs like one of their own! ❤️🐶🥰🐾

We may be a day late, but we do have a lot to be thankful for- especially this year. 🦃🍁🐶

Aero was on the ground for a quail hunt on Sunday and was attacked by a Javelina. Our best guess is she stumbled upon it while hunting through some cover. The wound to her neck happened upon first contact, and the remaining wounds on the back half of her body were her trying to high tail it out of there. By the amount of cactus thorns in her, she did not care what route she took. She was just trying to get away as fast as possible.

She was taken to an ER vet in San Antonio where she was sedated and all her wounds were flushed out. The bigger wound on her back was opened a little more as it was packed with fur and other debris. The vet told us the wound on her neck was 1/4 - 1/2 inch away from her bleeding out.

She was prescribed an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory/pain meds. In addition to that- hydrotherapy, wound flush, and Manuka honey once a day. They left the wounds open so they could drain.

She’s already moving around much better and thinks she should be back out hunting. Meanwhile, mom tells her no and is busy making sure she’s well taken care of! Thanks to all our friends who have checked up on her!

Dusky (Mako x Arlo) turning into a bird dog for her first Iowa Pheasant Opener last weekend! It feels like she’s growing up right before my eyes!

Thankful for our dear friends at that wanted a little more dog power this season and being willing to help her with more wild bird contacts! is also excited to teach her some tricks as she knows Dusky LOVES to work!

And just like that Standing Stones Baby Shark- Dusky (Mako x Arlo) turned 1yrs old!

She’s enjoying her birthday hunting in North Dakota! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for this one. We kinda like this little Dusky daaaawwwg! 🩷🐾🐶🎂

We have a started dog available, he is from our Trigger x Dez litter. Finn is a 6 year intact male. He is steady to wing and retrieves to hand. He is also collar conditioned to kennel, recall, fetch, whoa, and heel. He has been great in our pack, he’s a sweet boy. We are currently hunting him on prairie chickens in KS. VC Honor Points Big Boss

Raleigh (Trigger x Dez) had an amazing day yesterday and earned herself the Versatile Champion title. She is the first dog out of our kennel to do this. It was truly an honor to be part of the day!

This year we want to call out Honor Points Land Shark- Mako (Timber x Dez). She was our very first Honor Point dog and steals the hearts of everyone who meets her!

Life has been a little chaotic for us, but wanted to make a shoutout to Charles for running our little Dusky dawg in her Natural Ability test a few weeks back.

Standing Stones Baby Shark- Dusky (Mako x Arlo) received a 112 Prize 1.

It was a fun weekend as 2 of her litter mates also ran and both received Prize 1s as well! We are looking forward to working with this Baby Shark as we start some of her advanced training!

Happy 2nd Birthday to our Yahtzee!! (Breezy x Doc)

This gal is such a lover, we joke that when she’s cuddling- she’s really just trying to get INSIDE our bodies. She’s a goofball, beefcake, always wanting to work, and progressing in her advanced training beautifully! We’re excited to continue to watch this Breezy clone develop!

We made a special trip to visit the very preggo Mako to give her the birthday treat mom made her, and also shared a treat with the other mamas in the whelping wing!

Caught a picture with her tooth stuck as she was not wanting to wait to eat her mini bday cake! 🤣

I haven’t been this excited about a training seminar in a long time. I think what Evan has to offer is very lacking in the Gundog community. On top of that a full day of one on one training with the Standing Stone Kennels team.

We want to wish the ol’ lady Trigger a Happy 11th Birthday!

On the outside her muzzle, eyebrows, and fuzzy fur between her toes are showing her age. She has slowed down in the field, and her eyesight might not be at its peak for those marks….

On the inside, she just wants to go on those free runs, hunts where some days she decides a cast 1-2 counties over is what she’s doing, go for a quick swim that turns into a 40min duck and/or goose search, nail a blind, standoff with a coyote because she has zero Fs, point and back like a champ to turn around the next field and decide ripping the covey of quail is more fun, and run those 200yd marks better than some labs.

She’s got heart, and that’s all we could ask for. Old bird dogs should forever hold a special place in our hearts as some are not lucky enough to earn the “Old Bird Dog” badge, and that in itself is heartbreaking.

Hug your bird dogs young or old. They deserve it. They have all taught us a few things in life.
