they are not there to answer your medical questions
please leave that to the medical staff
it helps with efficiency
they can help with minor things but don't expect an answer that requires a bigger picture for your specific situation
we appreciate our receptionists more than you know and we hope you appreciate and give them the respect they deserve
as a veterinary technician I took it upon myself to become a receptionist for several years to understand as much of the veterinary dynamics as possible
i cannot emphasize how special and important receptionists are when it comes to keeping clients happy
they are always doing their best and are some of the most empathetic people I know who want to connect with you and your animals
again, please be respectful because they are there to help to their best abilities 💜🐾
Veterinary receptionists hold a special place in my heart. What seems like a million years ago now, my very first job in high school at the ripe old age of 16 was a veterinary receptionist.
I got one day of training and then was thrown to the wolves. I should have seen the writing on the wall then. 😂
But, I miss it all the time. The hysterical stories from clients, the crazy questions, but even more so, the opportunity to be a crying shoulder, to watch puppies grow into elderly dogs, to spend time with some incredible people and get to know their families and their stories.
To all of my veterinary receptionists out there, you are ROCK STARS and I appreciate the job you do every single day.
No one else could answer 4 ringing phone lines, clean up some rogue diarrhea, help a lobby full of clients, and keep a hospital running smoothly... all with a smile!
