Tularemia and Rickett have decided their alter egos are Dixie and Chinet, but whatever you want to call them, they are looking for their forever homes!

In case you’re wondering how we got here… well, sometimes fostering is all about improvising! Tularemia and Rickett were spayed and neutered at the vet yesterday and were a little too interested in their incisions. Unfortunately, their foster didn’t have quite the right size cone for their tiny necks and needed a way to keep them from licking. As they say, necessity is the mother of invention—so with some paper plates and a little creativity, these pups were good to go!

If you’re looking for a Husky in tiny form—Mazy is your gal! Mazy sat in a rural KY shelter for 3 months waiting for her court case to be finished. Once the legal battle was over, she was at the top of the euthanasia list due to her length of stay there. Mazy came to us extremely nervous but sweet. Since being with us she has totally come out of her shell. She loves people, other dogs, and is even good with cats! She looks like a Husky but is right around 40 lbs. She’s short and compact. **UPDATE: Unfortunately, being an outdoor event, we had to cancel today because of the rain! The Sammy vs Posh bingo rivalry will have to wait to be settled on a sunnier day!

Yesterday Sammy thought she was going to be the bingo champion, but Posh is ready to bring her A game 💪 She may only be 12 weeks old, but Posh thinks she’ll be the first pup barking out “BINGO!” today at CURIO with and . Come meet Posh and play a few rounds of bingo with us tomorrow from 4 to 6 in Courthouse Square. Proceeds from bingo go to support the care of Adopt A Pit pups like Posh while they wait to find their forever homes.

Meet Tobie from Pet Adoption and Wellness Center! Tobie was recently DNA tested, and the results are in – a purebred German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP). We don’t need to write an adoption bio for Tobie because it turns out, the American Kennel Club wrote one for us.

The GSP is an enthusiastic dog who thrives on vigorous exercise, positive training, and a lot of love. Their dark eyes shine with enthusiasm and friendliness! Built to work long days in the field or at the lake, GSPs are known for power, speed, agility, and endurance. 'Noble' and 'aristocratic' are words often used to describe the overall look. GSPs make happy, trainable pets who bond firmly with their family. They are always up for physical activities like running, swimming, and organized dog sports – anything that will burn some of their boundless energy while spending time outdoors with a human buddy. FOSTER NEEDED for 8 month old puppy Moose!! He’s 38 lbs & great with dogs!
His shelter is going to have to euthanize 40 dogs because they are so full! We don’t have 40 open foster homes but surely we can find a foster to help Moose??!!???

Everyone grab a tissue as we introduce you to Glory– her story is a tear jerker 😢

Glory is a 9 month old pitty puppy and her story started the way many of our dogs stories start- in a high-kill shelter. She was one of the lucky ones and found a loving home as a tiny puppy! Sadly, Glory and her owner were recently in a devastating car accident. The accident took the life of her beloved owner and left Glory with serious injuries. Thankfully Glory is now under the care of a loving Adopt a Pit foster, but she faces another challenge: she needs urgent hip surgery to live a pain-free life and regain her mobility. Despite her pain and confusion, Glory remains a loving and hopeful spirit. We need your support to help Glory enjoy the life every puppy deserves.

🐷Piggly Wiggly is the newest member of the club and he’s been using swimming lessons at his foster home to get back on his feet (and doing a fair bit of lounging on the floaties in between workouts)

💛We also have Penny Lane, with her typical golden girl outlook, proving that the fourth leg was just a spare in the first place 💁‍♀️

👑Queen Bea the amputee is the happiest three legged house hippo you’ll ever meet! One less leg doesn’t slow her down from games of tug with the other dogs in the home or zoomies in the backyard.

🩰Last but not least, we have sweet little Slipper! She excels at using her big brown eyes to earn extra snacks, and has even learned to eat off of a fork so she can be as dainty as her name 💕

Have you met the cutest puppy in the whole wide world?? That would be Slippers & she is the best! Slippers came to us missing the bottom part of her foot & had to have her leg amputated. Being a tri pod doesnt slow her down one bit! She has no trouble running, doing a few stairs & jumping on & off the couch. Slippers is full of sass & charm so when you catch her on the couch with something she isn’t supposed to have unfortunately all you can do is laugh!!
Slippers is a very petite girl. She looks kind of like a lab but she’s tiny & soft & even though she’s probably mostly mutt she’s 100 percent cute!
Oh & she LOVES dogs!! ( & toys & treats)
Also…. She knows how to eat off of a fork… 🫣

Meet Cassiterite, named after a shiny black crystal due to her gorgeous silky coat. Cassie is about 8ish months old, has the look and build of a border collie and the brains and personality of a GSD. Meet Rowan!
He is one of the 6 pups from the “College Babies Litter!”

Rowan is a 6 month old Beagle mix and weighs 38 lbs. This boy is a very chill, laid-back pup. He likes to snuggle and be right next to his people and his puppy siblings. He is in a Foster home with other dogs and loves playing with them! He has been around cats and does fine with them as well!

He loves playing with his toys and his nyla bones. He can play alone or with other dogs, he doesn’t seem to care. He will start looking for you if you are out of his sight very long.
He loves running and playing outside and also loves being inside snuggling with his person!
He is potty trained and crate trained! He is great on a leash and in the car!

🚨 We need help!!! 🚨 A shelter volunteer sent us this video of this sweet mom and her puppies who desperately need help. The smallest puppy has already died. They are parvo negative but in such horrible conditions. They’re tiny and living in utter filth. We want them out and in to safe foster homes! To do this, we will need a foster for the mom who has been very friendly and sweet with people and dogs, a foster for 2 puppies and a foster to take on 3 puppies. We will make sure that they have had vaccines, wormer, flea/tick treatment and vet care prior to arrival.if you are unable to foster, that is OK! Help!

Sunday update: we have some wins and we have some set backs. Both girls are still at the vet under a close watch and constant care. They are going to need to stay there for now. Their wounds are healing. And the pockets of infection that covered their bodies so dramatically that they couldn’t fully open their eyes or keep their tongues in their mouths is clearing. They’ve been cleared of fleas and parasites. But now they are regurgitating and having digestive issues. Their tiny little bodies are still a total mess but there’s improvement. Their spirits have remained tail wags and puppy kisses. 💕 Saturday update: Pansy (brown) and Dandelion (white) are eating better and doing well on pain meds. They’re still very painful and not out of the woods but they’re making progress. They will be staying at the vet a while longer. 💛 Foster update: Thank you for everyone who is offering to foster. At this time, now that we know more, we are not looking for a foster for them until we find out what is medically going on. After physically getting them, it is unfortunately obvious that they are in way worse shape than we thought. We need to figure out the veterinary care before we move to a plan of action with regard to fostering. We will do everything we can to save them. Thanks for having our back on this. UPDATE: these poor, sweet souls were rushed immediately to our vet for care the moment they were handed over to us. They’re safe and in great hands (photos in comments). They’re staying overnight tonight for sure. These babies were used as bait to train fighting dogs. It’s abhorrent and wrong. We are sick over this. Thank you for helping us help them. ❤️‍🩹 If you’ve applied to foster them, we are not sure what the next steps will be as immediate vet care is top priority right now. We will post updates as we have them. Keep checking the comments for photos. Thank you all for caring about them and showing them support. ☝🏽☝🏽

Here at Adopt a Pit we have several dogs who are absolutely bullet proof with other dogs & love to “teach” our sometimes not so perfect babies a few manners! Coop ( the brown one) is a big puppy who desperately wants to play with every dog but he can play too hard so not every dog likes him. So yesterday we had Miss Kimmie’s Manners Class & we let Kimmie ( the black one) whip him into shape!! Kimmie enjoys every minute & Coop is turning out to be a really nice dog! Coop is a sweet guy! The Miami Valley’s Largest Pit Bull Rescue

Adopt a Pit Rescue, Inc. is the largest Pit Bull rescue in the Miami Valley. We save, rehabilitate, & rehome dogs from local kill shelters. Some of our dogs have physical scars from their past, but many more have scars that we cannot see. They all need our help, through no fault of their own.

Founded in 2013 to rescue and rehabilitate Pit Bulls & other "bully breeds", we have since adopted out over 2500 dogs, and currently have around 150 adoptable dogs in over 80 foster homes. The majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters, where they are quite literally on death row. We focus on dogs who are deemed "unadoptable" at the shelters due to injuries, illness, because they are scared, or simply because of their breed. We are a foster home based rescue. We do not have a shelter or kennels. All of our dogs live in foster homes as part of a family until they find their forever home. We supply all of the food, vetting, crates, and other supplies for all of our foster dogs. Our foster homes supply the love. We rely on donations and adoption fees to cover our costs and to be able to continue to save these wonderful dogs! We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so your donations are tax-deductible.
