Central Indiana Foster Cats Retired cat rescue that was focused on the Town of Speedway, IN, Racing Capitol of the World. We still have cats available for adoption.

Contact us for an application to adopt one of our furry felines! Our rescue is not taking in any cats at this time UNLESS THE CAT WAS PREVIOUSLY ADOPTED FROM US. (We will ALWAYS take our cats back.) Felines in our care are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for FIV/FeLV and microchipped.

Molly and Jett were adopted from us as kittens to an elderly lady in July 2020. She passed away in May 2024 from Alzheimer's. Molly and Jett stayed in the house with the lady's sister (who was her caregiver). Unfortunately, the sister was NOT a cat person and I was called to pick them up on New Year's Eve. Molly and Jett are unsocialized and traumatized. They have been with us for a couple of month decompressing, but still have trust issues. They had not been out of the house since a vet visit in 2022.

Both will hiss when displeased with something, and both have swatted us. However, once they get comfortable, they are very sweet, nudging for attention. Molly is more outgoing, wanting more attention. Jett is still defensive, and will sometimes hiss when we pet him, but is overall a good cat. They need an adopter that will be patient with them, give them a chance to come out of their shells and be comfortable (over MONTHS, not just days or weeks). They need to be the only pets in the home. They have not liked our other cats (Jett will walk over and hiss at Ghost), and have not been around dogs nor small children. Their weakness is catnip!

Born March 18, 2020.

(Molly and Jett come with their cat carriers, litter box, and cat tree. We also have their cat beds from their previous home to get them comfortable in a new home.)

THEY WILL ONLY BE ADOPTED AS A PAIR!

Adoption fee = $50 each ($100 total)

Ghost has already lived a long, hard life. He is now looking for a comfortable home where he can just be spoiled.

Ghost was a tom cat who was taken in by a nice couple that gave him shelter, food and care. He was diagnosed with FIV and heartworm. The couple contacted us when they knew Ghost would need further care and a good forever home. We worked with the vet team at IndyHumane who conducted radiographs, testing, neuter and eventually teeth cleaning and extraction. Ghost is now heartworm antigen negative (breeding females are gone), but still heartworm antibody positive (males not dead yet). He has no clinical signs of heartworm anymore.

Ghost is a big guy that is not the best at grooming himself. He will need someone who can give him regular brushing with his favorite comb (included in his adoption), and occasionally make sure the back end is clean. He is shy, so we want to find him a quiet home with no dogs and no small children. He does fine with other cats. Jett will hiss in his face and he will not respond.

Ghost gets a can of Friskie's shreds nightly and loves to give us a head bonk before he dives in to his favorite meal!

Ghost is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested negative for FeLV. He is FIV positive. He is approximately 7 years old.

Adoption fee = $75

(Ghost comes with the cat house and litter box in his cage.)

These are not “cuddlers”. These are young adults that came to us from Indy Neighborhood Cats when they were kittens. They were born feral and we have been working on socialization for months. They do NOT like to be picked up, and allow us to pet them on their terms. But they LOVE playtime with tunnels and cat trees. ADOPTER WILL NEED TO CONTINUE SOCIALIZATION and BE PATIENT.

WE WILL ONLY ADOPT THEM AS A BONDED PAIR.

Azalea is a sweet girl who will be the first to come out of her shell. She loves attention. But she loves her nightly can of Fancy Feast pate more! This will be the secret to winning both of them over.

Larkspur will not let you move him, pick him up, or do anything to him, except pet him sometimes. He was the spiciest kitten when he came to us and hasn't changed much. He does not trust human hands. To trim claws, we do muzzle him. Thanks to another foster cat, Larkspur would come up to us begging for attention while the other foster cat got his daily loving. Larkspur ran off after a few pets. A PetSmart employee also helped with his socialization and now he comes out seeking attention when he gets his nightly canned food. Larkspur needs a covered litter box with no door or he'll overshoot the sides of the litter box. (The litter box in their cage is included with their adoption.)

These cats have not been around dogs or small children. We insist on a cat-only household with children over 12. They do great with other cats.

Azalea & Larkspur are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV and are microchipped. Approximate date of birth is August 21, 2022.

Adoption fee = $75 per cat ($150 total)

Winry has a long history with us. She came to us as a 3-week old kitten in 2016. She was found on the fairway of the Brickyard Golf Course. She was bottle-fed and thrived. We were tempted to keep her for ourselves, but have a 2 cat limit in our own house. She was adopted out at 3-4 months old in the summer of 2016. In November 2020, she was abandoned. Her finder decided to adopt her. Unfortunately, the new adopter wound up on hard times, unable to afford her care and surrendered Winry back to us this summer. Winry had flea dermatitis, alopecia and an ear infection.

After vaccines, Revolution flea treatment, three skin calming baths and ear medicine, Winry's fur is growing back beautifully, she is healthy and she is ready to find a new forever home. She has NO TEETH, due to stomatitis a few years ago. That does not stop her appetite though. We currently have her on Diamond Care Weight Management kibble (yes, she can still devour dry food) and Fancy Feast pate (various flavors, warmed with added warm water) daily.

Winry was living with other cats, but stopped using the litter box. So we recommend no other cats in her household. She is very particular about the cleanliness of her litter box which she needs cleaned daily (or at least every other day). She was living with an 11-year old pit bull and did great with visiting nieces and nephews.

Winry is now 9 years old, spayed, updated vaccines, microchipped and re-tested negative for FIV/FeLV. She should be on Revolution for flea prevention all year.

Adoption fee = $75

Today is Black Cat Appreciation Day. And we really appreciate Ghost. He is a good boy, a former tomcat, and the sweetest cat! He is currently available for adoption at PetSmart Carmel/Westfield. He loves his daily can of Friskie's Shreds (mixed with hot water to make "soup") and talks to us each night until he's fed. He also likes to give head bonks and get attention. He is FIV+ but he does great with other cats. His neighbor (Jett) will come over and hiss in his face, and Ghost will not react at all. Ghost newly hit senior age territory, but he's still got a lot of life to live. If you are interested in giving this great guy a home, please stop by PetSmart Carmel/Westfield and fill out an application.

This weekend, Clark & Rosetta, our senior bonded pair, were adopted to a wonderful lady and her adult son. They will be living in a nice, peaceful, small home for their senior years.

Currently at PetSmart, we have 2 bonded pairs - Azalea & Larkspur and Jett & Molly. We also have our old tomcat Ghost, who gets more social every day!

We need adopters that are looking for the shy cats, the cats that need patience to bond with their owners, the cats that don't want to be picked up, but loved nonetheless. No dogs, no children, just peace and quiet to be the sweet cats that they are. Please share our cats to help them find that perfect forever home!

We have one more "adoptable" named Sleenky, but she has a bit of an attitude and we aren't sure when or if she can go PetSmart.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years. While we aren't taking in any new cats, we will always be here to support those that have been adopted from us.

Our beautiful senior boy Clark is getting his much needed dental work done today.

We'd like to start by thanking the Ford family for their generous donation to this procedure. They have been supporters of our rescue for many years and we can't thank them enough.

Clark's procedure will be extensive with many extractions. Please donate to help with the cost if you can. Anything not covered will be put on the rescue credit card. The easiest way to donate to us is via PayPal ([email protected]). We are a 501c3 charity so your donation is tax deductible.

Please keep Clark in your prayers today, and maybe a little prayer to Rosetta, his companion, as she has to spend the day without him. 😿

FUNDRAISER & STATE OF THE RESCUE

As is pretty common knowledge with anyone who knows me, I am going to retire from rescuing. We did not take in any new cats last year, having cats from the year before still in our care. However, until the time that everyone is adopted, there are still cats in our care needing good forever homes as well as veterinary care.

We recently had 2 wonderful adoptions - Pawtrick & Purrcy found a forever home, then Amewlia & Pawdrey found their forever home (after a year at PetSmart!). Still waiting for their turn are Azalea & Larkspur, our very shy long-haired brother & sister waiting at PetSmart Carmel/Westfield; Clark & Rosetta Halftail, our 11 year old shy seniors, also waiting at PetSmart Carmel/Westfield; Molly & Jett, recently returned to the rescue (originally adopted 7/2020) and somewhat traumatized, but learning trust day by day and pictured here; Ghost, our former tomcat, now a senior, FIV+ and he beat heartworm!; and last is Sleenky, a brown tabby female from a hoarding case who will need the most patient adopter to build trust with her.

All we have after that are 2 cats that need a barn and an adopter with no expectations, as well as Ta**ra, who is now hospice.

With some of our cats being seniors, they need a little extra care. Clark is one of those cats. He is in desperate need of a dental cleaning with extractions. We have received a quote for $1350. We have a couple hundred dollars saved (THANK YOU Ford family for helping with that!), but we are in desperate need of funds to pay for the cleaning. If you can contribute ANYTHING to help get Clark feeling better, you can send a donation through Paypal. Our email address is [email protected].

If you have a cat and would like to help with TOYS, we also have a fundraiser with KitNip Box. Order a one-year subscription using our special link, and we will get a $20 donation. You (and your cat(s)), get toys and treats every month for a year. Our rescue cats have been loving the toys and treats that KitNip Box has sent. If you've seen the prices of toys at the pet store lately, you'll know this is a pretty good deal. You can sign up at this link:

Thank you for all your support over the years. If you know anyone interested in a sweet old tomcat or a shy bonded pair, please send them our way!

After a complete renovation and cleaning of the cages at PetSmart Carmel/Westfield (14720 Greyhound Plaza [US 31N]), all 4 of our bonded pairs are at the store available for adoption. You can visit them during store business hours and complete an application on site. Please remember that all of our bonded pairs are SHY and TIMID (except for Pawdrey and maybe Amewlia). No dogs and no children for these pairs.

We would love to see them adopted for the holidays to the perfect forever homes!
