In addition to keeping, photographing & selling a select few P. I've been involved with various reptile species since childhood. I began specializing in Pythons in 2000 & have been mentored by some of the greats from the forums days of the internet. I attended shows mainly to meet with many of the keepers I'd met on-line and I believe there are more good people in our community than bad. I think w

e are entering into an era that is all about the smaller scale keepers. I was mentored by larger-scale keepers & knew from the challenges they deal with daily, I wished to do differently so I did. I strive to stay small- it's where the joy of keeping resides! The quality over quantity focus means slower speed & a hands on approach. A buyer can ask me about personalities on any animal here & I can tell them. I pride myself on support after any of my babies goes to a new home. They are living art and even stripping away their "paint job" they are a gentile, excellent species to keep and have as pets. I've created a group to help share important information to all Boa & Python keepers. It's my way of giving back to the H**p community & putting the health of our animals FIRST. This new group Centered around Boa & Python health. It's growing fast & I'm both inspired and humbled by the support it's gaining in the H**p Community!!! I hope you'll add this to your list of must-have sites! This group is created primarily as a resource for sharing what we know of diseases that can harm our beloved Boas & Pythons. https://www.facebook.com/groups/531450196999038/

DID YOU KNOW- I'm on Pinterest?! I hope you'll follow me there... please look over my Collection Board & let me know what you think. All photos there are free to use & share (unaltered of course), so feel free to like & share away! I look forward to any feed-back you may have for me as well. https://www.pinterest.com/debnor…/northernregius-collection/

NOTE: As a hobby keeper, I DON'T have a brick and mortar store... the address here is near the FedEx office I ship out of- most of you hobby keeper will understand WHY I don't list on FB where my snakes are... too many of you have had animals/collections stolen. Also I do wish to schedule visits instead of drop-ins out of the blue. Contact me if you wish to see my babies in person.

Fun fact:
The colony is so big, it shows up on weather radar!

Just in time for the spookiest weekend of the year, we're talking bats this weekend on Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild! 🦇 Though many believe bats to be spooky or scary, these mammals are misunderstood creatures that deserve attention in the realm of conservation. About half of all bat species in North America are threatened.

Dr. Rae and Peter travel to Texas, where they not only find the world’s largest colony of bats, but the largest known population of mammals on earth!

Cool wolf facts-

Did you know that a wolf's coat color could potentially indicate disease resistance?

Research is revealing that for wolves in Yellowstone National Park, coat color has a surprising link to overall health. Wolves with black coats had higher survival rates when exposed to canine distemper than did wolves with gray coats, along with strong reproductive success and other vital rates.

“What we speculate may be going on here, is that there are tradeoffs,” said Dan Stahler, project leader for the Yellowstone Wolf Project. “There’s a cost associated with certain gene actions. Because of this beta defensin gene, which is also causing black coat color, we think there’s some link to the immune system and mounting an immune response that plays into energetics and reproduction versus survival.”

When I lived in California, these guys were common in those waters. Any time you enter the ocean, you become part of the food chain. Take appropriate safety measures.

New research on sargassum -

The Great Atlantic Sargassum Belt is a hazard for coastal communities. Elevated N and P in the GASB are measured, with As content reflecting P limitation. Nutrient availability causes GASB blooms but reducing P would increase As accumulation.

We 💙 our manatee friends! Did you know November is the start of manatee season?! Manatees have begun their migration back to the Florida springs for the winter months, and it's the perfect time to witness the magic of these sea potatoes! 😍

Here's a quick refresher on those essential 'Manatee Manners': Stay calm when you spot manatees while swimming, snorkeling, or diving—no touching or approaching. Give them space so everyone can enjoy a safe encounter! 😊

Northern Regius Reptiles supports responsible pet ownership AND protecting natural habitats for the diverse Flora and Fauna on our planet. What about zoos and rescues?

This, prior to 1990, was an issue for SOME places. Not all zoos or rescues were providing quality of life and for animals in captivity; they deserve to live out their best lives. I do my best to support Zoos and Rescues that:

Promote rehab and rescue...
Also those that are using responsible captive breeding to maintain genetic diversity within the species. This last is two-fold: to help replenish at risk wild populations and to assist in healthy captive populations that act as ambassadors for their species.

Properly cared for captive wildlife allow us to understand what the individual and collective species need in order to thrive. Humans continue to be a major threat to ecosystems, largely do to habitat loss. Studies on wildlife show us ways to support healthy wild populations.

When done correctly, Zoos and wildlife rescues help us to keep wild populations going. To see that the organizations you wish to support are doing a good job, ✔️ to see how they support wild populations and how their captive populations are treated: space, diet and enrichment all play a role.

I'm an advocate for wildlife conservation. You also can invest in our planet's bio-diversity by supporting Zoos and Wildlife rescues that share these values.

An intense public debate has fuelled governmental bans on marine mammals held in zoological institutions. The debate rests on the assumption that survival in zoological institutions has been and remains lower than in the wild, albeit the scientific ...

Keeping it positive.
What changes do you wish to see in the hobby
AND
Are you leading with those?

For me, I am not, nor ever will be... a warehouse; it's too close to a "Mill" for my goals.

15% (or more when it's a good year), of profits from my small patch boutique hobby, go to charities and USARK. I don't do a bunch of breeding, 12 clutches or less allows me to enjoy keeping and I can spend the time with my residents and neonates that they require.

This year, was 2 clutches and next year's numbers will be small as well... No "fire sales" here. Just a small, disease free, closed collection. I've been keeping since Y2K and I am not going anywhere.

I 💕 lizards like this one...
I have groups of little wild lizards on my property and they have gotten used to me... they gather nearby and I flick ants towards them when I am in the pool. I'm not good at doing that and filming so only friends who've visited have seen it.
Reptiles are just awesome.

I love this park, scope of conservation work that they participate in is epic!

And this little gator would never survive on its own... now calls this sanctuary, home.

Next time you travel to FL, don't just see the "mouse". There are so many animal conservation parks, wildlife rescues etc that would love your support.
