2024 ABCA Border Collie litter plans!
Clark & Molly-this will be the 3rd litter of this cross. The first two litters are fabulous dogs and range from big b***d and chill, to lighter built and very drivey. All are showing to be very toy and food driven and highly biddable. Blacks, reds, and tris, all rough coats expected.
Clark & Teal-first litter of this cross. Based on the parents I am hoping to get pups that are strong working dogs with a lot of stock sense and style. They should be easy going and very trainable. Smooth and rough coats, all black/tri with some ticking.
Slider & Fiona-this cross will only happen if Iām feeling cray cray and decide 3 litters in consecutive months is a good idea. š¤Ŗ Hoping this cross will produce excellent working dogs with good minds and bite when needed. All reds, tri possible, smooth and rough coats.
All parents have DNA panels done and puppies will not be affected. All but one parent has hips, elbows and shoulders OFAād with normal and good or above scores. PM with any questions!

Beau is a year old BC looking for a non working home. Heās a super sweet goofy boy who loves training, food, and toys. Heās fairly chill for a BC and easy to work with. Gets along with our other dogs and mostly ignores the cats. Beau is crate trained but has lived outside and is not housebroken. He is good in the car, on a leash, and has a decent recall. He is very sensitive to reprimands and learns quickly. He is microchipped, health tested and vaccinated, but does need his neuter scheduled.
Beau has some interest in working livestock so likely canāt be trusted loose on a farm, but not enough interest to train him for stock work.

Another clip of Fiona, just a relaxing little work, getting these calves used to moving calmly off of a dog before I take them outside for driving and distance work.

My little monster completed her health testing recently. Fiona is a carrier for IGS and EOAD through Optimal Selection, OFA shoulders and elbows normal, and hips excellent. š Now on to the exciting times!! š¶ š¶ š¶

I donāt know why Iāve never shared a video of Fiona working, she really is a pretty cool little dog. However, the funniest things are genetic and Fiona got a dose of Jingerās inability to figure out which direction is which. I ruined Jinger so now I get a redo with Fiona and am determined to take it as slowly as necessary and get her directions solid.
Anyway, hereās a quick clip with no directions in it so you canāt laugh at the struggle weāve got going. š These will be our winter training calves, and this the first moment theyāve been worked by a dog.

Our first USBCHA style sheep trial is under our belt! Lots to work on, especially rate, but he worked well overall and didnāt grab anything. I remembered to make a plan and stick with it and did much better than the last trial. I was boring and took zero pics to document anything so hereās the results for a āpic.ā
I also think I found Fionaās new boyfriend, Slider. Heās a handsome prick eared red dog who I loved to watch work and think his traits will mesh well with Fionaās.

Clark and I hit up another trial last Saturday. It was a challenging trial and though Clark worked really well for me, my handling was really poor. I need to make a plan and stick to it before entering the arena, instead of changing my mind several times during my run and mixing everything up!
Anyway, we took a scenic drive on the way home and had a wonderful time-at least I did, I donāt know if Clark was too interested in painted hills and other splendor. š¤£

The redheaded musketeers attended the Abingdon Memorial Classic trial last Saturday where Clark picked me back up by placing 3rd after Fiona made a fool out of me in her run. On our way home on Sunday we went to the coast and had a blast in the waves. Overall a fun, exciting weekend, and THIS is what I have to document it. š

I have a 2 year old ABCA female out of Marvin Danielās Quinn and Tag. Teal is fully health tested (DNA, hips, elbows & shoulders) and carries dilute. She has had one litter of fat, healthy pups and was a great mom. I didnāt know a dog had a sense of humor until I got Teal-she is an absolute hoot and makes me laugh all the time. The only time sheās serious is when sheās on stock. Teal is unstarted, with a handful of stock exposures, and shows tons of balance, eye, and a calm, quiet working nature. She is confident and has a quick clean bite. That said, she has not started on cattle Iām not sure if the confidence would be the same on cattle or not.
Both on and off stock Teal is sensitive to noisy human emotion-a sharp reprimand is all she needs for correction but at the same time Teal does not approve of children shouting and screaming in play and will hunker in her house. The same goes for barking dogs but otherwise she is not noise sensitive.
Teal wants to work and either needs to go to a place where she will be trained on stock, or a place that has no stock at all-she is not the Border Collie to have as a accent piece on your farm if you donāt plan to train her.

Tuckered out after a hard night of barking. The more exercise she gets during the day the more she barks at night. š¤Ø
Trained Border Collie Needing Active Home
Here is Scout's official video. * * Scout is officially ready to go to his new home. He is a Fiona littermate and requires an experienced owner. Heās a super sweet, friendly social dog with lots of toy and food drive. Super athletic sporty dog, but is actually more of a medium drive overall and can settle down and relax really well. While he does not work stock, his absolute ideal home is on a farm, away from the bustle of town. He gets along with our dogs, cats, and livestock. He has little interest in stock and is NOT being sold as a stock dog. Read more here. https://forthrightbordercollies.weebly.com/currently-available.html
Letās play a little game on this wet, windy walk. Whoās the female thatās in standing heat, and who are the 3 intact males? š Dogs will be dogs and if I donāt want a breeding they arenāt out of my direct line of sight, but I expect my males to be well enough mannered to allow me to continue my walks even when females are in heat.
Scout working on his public off leash heel-he did such a good job! š And look at that tail! š¤© Scout will be available soon so stay posted if looking for a nicely trained, active pet/sport dog.
Candy-cane, my 4 month old half sheepie pup. She shows her sheepie stuff in the beginning and then her cow side comes out once we get the sheep off the fence. š¤
