UPDATE: Phoenix, the kitty who survived the fire, has been released from the vet and is in a loving foster home! 💗🐾 He continues to recover but still has melted insulation burned into his fur. Thank you to everyone who donated to help this sweet boy!

Sad Post: We aren't great with directions, but as you are leaving Milton-Freewater and driving towards Pendleton on the right side of the Hwy 11 before Steen Road, there seem to be a few hit animals. Possibly a medium sized black furry dog and one or two smaller dogs or puppies. Our volunteer who was driving couldn't stop in time to see exactly what the animals were. 💔

If anyone is able to see what the animals are, we will make a more detailed post.

SPECIAL FOSTER NEEDED. Our kitty Amaretto was doing very well in her foster home (which just had one chihuahua in it), but her foster who had never had a cat before just discovered that she is allergic to cats 💔

If you'll recall, Amaretto was the kitty who was too shy with other kitties for our shelter. She needs a home where there isn't much competition for food, water, or a litterbox. If you have only one or two other gentle cats who would welcome Amaretto into your home, PLEASE let us know *immediately*. Thank you!

A HAPPY PUP-DATE! Owner found! Thank you, Everyone!

This dog was running loose and was brought to our shelter. He is microchipped, but the microchip company is "experiencing an unusually high call volume," so we are using the magic of social media. The dog has a tag that says "Joe Wilcox,' but we cannot read the phone number. Does anyone know Joe? Can you let him know his dog is at PAWS waiting for him? Please share to help this dog get home. 💗🐾

A PUP-DATE: Pendleton Police were able to make room for this dog at the pound. We need *your* help. If you are able to adopt or foster, please do. The shelter crisis is REAL. 2.7 million pets missed spay/neuter during COVID lockdowns in 2020, and MILLIONS of extra pets have been born. This is a crisis, and we need *your* help. Thank you

“Bridgette is very trainable, does great on a leash with very light/minimal pulling, she loves to cuddle, she stays in the yard, did great with cats and would likely do well with most children. She is an aim-to-pleaser. She is moderately energetic so will need some exercise but can also hang out calmly. She’s a little jumpy and needy, she jumps up some (but I think this habit can be broken). She would likely do well with another dog. She really wants to be friends with my dog but he’s not interested.“

Did you know that 2 cats and their offspring can become 420,000 cats in 7 years? 💔 We now have capacity at spay/neuter clinics to get more kitties fixed, but we need more funding to keep up. Our kitten season normally brings 700 kittens to our shelter, so let's raise the money now to spay and neuter as many cats as possible and see if we can reduce that number 💗🐾 Please donate and please share! Do you have some fitness goals you'd like to CRUSH this year? Well, we have 500 lbs of kitty litter waiting to be picked up at D&B in Pendleton! They are generously donating ten fifty pound boxes of kitty litter to us!

Let us know if you can drive to D&B to pick up the litter for us and deliver it to PAWS. It will be a win-win for everyone! Thank you!

Update 1/23/25 This dog is Krystal, and she is at Riverside Vet. A generous donor donated towards her office visit. She needs another $95.70 for cultures & ear drops. UPDATE: The dogs now have a ride to *and* from their spay/neuter appointments! We love our community and all of the other not-for-profits and organizations who help us do our work! 💗🐾 Thank you! 🐾💗

We work with many other not-for-profits to help people afford to spay/neuter their pets. We have two dogs from the reservation who will be getting spayed/neutered Friday, but they need to be picked up at their home on Kirkpatrick Road and taken to Pendleton Veterinary Clinic for their 7:30 a.m. appointment on Friday, January 24th. After the spay/neuter, they will need to be picked up around 4:30 p.m. and taken back to their home.

Do we have any drivers who would be willing to help? It takes a TEAM to make all of this work, and we'd LOVE your help! Thank you!
