I hope everyone had a great holiday and start to the new year!

I will be back to grooming a little later this month. I’ve missed all my fur clients so much and am happy that I will be seeing them soon!

Starting next week, I’ll be getting ahold of everyone to get your pets scheduled. However, I do have some updates to my services and there are some pets that I’m still not able to groom at this time (Please read about these updates below). If your pet is in dire need of being groomed right now, please make other arrangements until you hear from me. As I’m sure everyone understands, I’m not able to groom every pet on day one of being back. Please wait for me to get ahold of you. I know that everyone is anxious to get back on a regular grooming schedule. However, it will take me time to get to everyone and I appreciate your patience.

The first update is, I’m not able to groom large dogs at this time. If your dog is over 35 lbs, you may not hear from me yet. As I work my strength and stamina back up this may change, and I’ll update those of you with larger dogs as I’m able to groom them comfortably and safely. Please make other grooming arrangements in the meantime.

I will no longer be grooming any pets that are a bite risk. Due to a higher possibility of infection from cut/bites, I’m no longer able to chance getting bit. Fortunately, this doesn’t affect very many of you as I only groom a few pets that have shown this behavior. I’ll contact those of you with bite risk pets to give you a list of other groomers in the area if you need.

I’m also going to start charging a cleaning fee for those pets continuously coming to me with fleas. When I groom a pet with fleas, I must do additional cleaning to treat/kill the fleas left behind. This takes additional time and products. However, since sometimes fleas happen unexpectantly, the first time your pet comes to me with fleas, there won’t be a charge. I’ll inform you of the fleas and recommend treatments. The second time your pet has fleas you will be charged an additional $25 cleaning fee on top of your pet’s regular grooming charge. If your pet continuously comes to me with fleas, you’ll be turned away until the flea problem is resolved. Again, thankfully this doesn’t affect most of you, but there are a few repeat offenders.

All that being said, I’m very excited to be back to grooming. I’m so grateful for all the wonderful people who sent me encouragement, kind words, cards, gifts, thoughts and prayers. I feel very blessed!! Thank you all!

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a wonderful New Year!

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in the new year. I can officially say I'm cancer free! Right now, I'm taking the needed time for healing and getting back to my full strength. I'll be posting some updates after the holidays with specifics, but I'll be back to grooming later next month.
I know everyone is anxious to get their pets groomed, and I will contact everyone to get scheduled as soon as I am scheduling appointments.

I wanted to give everyone an update on my medical leave for those wondering when I'll be back. My treatment is going well, and I have appreciated everyone's kind words and encouragement during this time. 🥰 🩷
I'm still on leave until further notice, and unfortunately, I'm still not sure of my exact return date. However, it will most likely be at least another month or 2 before I begin scheduling appointments.
In the meantime, let me know if you would like a list of other groomers in the area that (at least as far as I know) are taking new clients. As much as I love being your pet's groomer, I want them to keep up on their regular grooming until I'm able to come back. Keep in mind that once I return, it still may be a while before I get to your pet. As I'm sure you understand, I can't do every pet on the day I return to work 😉
Additionally, it will take a while for me to regain my full strength to take on some of the larger pets.

I will be on medical leave for the next few months. I'm not sure exactly how long I'll be on leave, but I'm expecting it will be at least 2 months and possibly longer. This will depend on what my final treatment plan ends up being and my recovery time.
Once I'm ready to come back, I'll start getting a hold of everyone to get back on a regular schedule.
I'll try to answer any messages/texts/calls when I can. However, I will be focusing on getting better, so you may not hear back right away.

The next few days are going to be super hot with highs reaching close to 100° 🔥 🥵
Remember to take precautions with your fur babies to help keep them cool....no long walks during the heat of the day, stay off hot asphalt, and provide plenty of fresh water.
Also, keep in mind brachycephalic breed dogs (flat faced pups like pugs, shih-tzus, bulldogs) are at an even higher risk for heat stroke..so keep their potty breaks quick when letting them out during the heat of the day.

If you think you pet is suffering from heat stroke or exhaustion contact your vet immediately!

Did you know mid February through March is skunk mating season??? 🦨🤭 Skunks will be more active, and the likelihood of our pups getting sprayed is increased...especially those of us that live close to wooded areas.

If your pup has the unfortunate luck of getting sprayed, DON'T GET THEM WET!

Skunk spray is actually an oil which binds to skin and fur. If you get your dog wet, the oil will repel the water and actually become more pungent.

Instead, apply either a skunk specific shampoo (or use the recipe below to make your own) directly to pet's dry fur. Let it set for up to 30 minutes. Then rinse and follow up with your pet's regular shampoo and conditioner.

I hope everyone is able to be safe and warm tonight! That was a rough storm, and I know many of us are still without power.

Due to the weather/road conditions/power outages, I have had to move several appointments around to get everyone worked back into my schedule. I appreciate everyone's understanding so much. You all are the best! 🥰

Winter is here and with it comes ice and snowy weather. 🥶💨❄🌨
During inclement weather, I ask for everyone's understanding if I need to reschedule, postone, or arrive late to your pet's grooming appointments.
I watch the weather closely, and will get in touch with you as early as possible if I need to reschedule, or think I may be late.

The change in season can bring allergies for human and pets alike. Fall allergies in our pets can make them miserable with itchy skin...not to mention drive us crazy with all their scratching.
Here are som great tips to help prevent allergies in our pets!
However, if you notice your pup is scratching and miserable without any relief it may be time for a vet visit...all that scratching is not only uncomfortable for your furbabby, but can cause more serious skin infections if left untreated.

Fall’s falling leaves, moisture, and windy weather means it’s time to deal with fall allergies. Your dog is just as susceptible to allergies as you are, and all that sniffing he’s bound to do puts him especially at risk. Sneezing, coughing, red eyes, and itchy skin are all possible side effect...

Well it's officially official, For the Love of Paws is now mobile! 😻🐶
As most of my regular clients know I switched over to mobile grooming from in home grooming in early July. However, I just got my graphics on my van and am now taking new clients 😀
My van is completely self-sufficient with its own electric and water. All I need is a place to park a cargo sized van, and your pet!
