This is probably one of the hardest posts we have to make in rescue. Lucille came into our rescue a year ago and she instantly had all of us falling in love with her. She is literally walking perfection and the sweetest girl ever created by god. Lucille was an older girl but she never let that stop her.
We noticed that something was wrong with Lucille one morning and we took her to the vet. The words coming out of the vets mouth literally crushed our hearts. As we looked at Lucille as the doctor was telling us what was going on and what needed to be done. She had the biggest smile on her face. Like a way of telling us, she would be ok and she wasn’t scared. The words “Hemangiosarcoma” left the vets mouth and resonated in our minds. We heard “she has a mass on her chest and there’s fluid from the mass”. We all cried but felt like we had to do whatever it took for Lucille medically.
We made an appointment with a specialist. We took Lucille to the vet yesterday to get the fluid off of her. Unfortunately, as soon as they put her on the table and began an ultrasound, Lucille passed away. The devastating loss of Lucille has broken every heart that knew her and loved her. Lucille was surrounded by her Mylo family who love her unconditionally!
Lucille was brought into our rescue after being left outside and chained up. We brought her into our rescue and she truly made rescue bearable. Her smile was an instant mood changer and a rare gem in life! Lucille was our rare gem in life as well.
We will forever truly miss her beyond words can express! We love her so much and our hearts won’t recover from the hole in our heart where she occupied.
I hope you are running in the fields with that big smile on your face, rolling in the grass, breathing that air and just having your best life. We wish you were here with us but enjoy your peace sweet girl.
Thank you to EVERYONE who transported her, loved her, pet her, gave her pup cups and treats, sat with her, and was always there for her! We can never thank you enough! We are blessed and grateful for you all!

Thor came from the dirt roads in Bay Minette in June. He’s around a year old. He is heartworm negative, and weights 50 pounds. Thor came in, beat up from another dog in the area. He had wounds and was bleeding heavily on his back from the flea infestation he had. The day he came in, a shelter worker immediately put him in the bathtub to get rid of the fleas and blood. He was the BEST boy for it. Didn’t mind her cleaning his ears or his paws. She had no trouble with him at all.
This boy is so sweet and so well mannered. He knows how to walk on a leash well, he sits, but when I say shake, he lays down, so he’s confused on that one. He doesn’t jump on humans, This guy is scared. He is scared of the loud barking, he is scared of doors shutting.

✋ ISO EXPERIENCED SHEPHERD OWNERS ✋
Rhys shows a lot of typical breed characteristics and because he has not had a great start to life, these behaviors have never been corrected. This means, he needs a home where someone understands the breed and is going to put in the time and patience to train him. We are offering help with training.
📍 Location: Beulah Florida
🐶 Age, 2(ish?), 80lbs
‼️ Heart worm POSITIVE, started on treatment
✔️ neutered, UTD on shots, microchipped
✔️ he is potty trained
✔️ does well when left home alone unkenneled.
✔️ knows sit and walks well with prong collar
🚫 Not sure about cats.
❤️ He is a huge love bug & he loves belly rubs!
Basic Background info:
Found as a stray months ago, he was not microchipped and an owner never came forward. He lived with a foster temporarily and she had another dog. This woman’s landlord did not allow shepherds so Rhys was placed in a rescue temporarily to keep him out of the shelter. The rescue is NOT taking Rhys on as one of their dogs, they simply gave him a safe space to stay due to the landlord wanting him out ASAP. I have been raising money to get him treated for heartworm and working with him on his behavioral quirks. I had found a potential adopter but the man’s living situation has changed and he cannot adopt Rhys. Unfortunately, his time at the rescue is also up. So, we are back on the hunt for the perfect fit for Rhys.
Special Needs:
✋ Touch sensitivities.
He will need to go to a home with older children or no children (preferably no children). He had wounds on his ears when found as a stray, we think he may have nerve damage on the tips of his ears because he doesn’t like them being tapped/played with. Also, he does not like his tail pulled. He does love rubbing his ears into your legs and he enjoys face pets like most shepherds!
✋ Fence Reactivity.
He shows some reactivity at the fence but no reactivity towards other dogs when out for walks at the park. Very typical breed behavior.
✋ Not the best boundaries with other dogs.
He does not have great boundaries with other dogs at this time, he kept trying to hump the dog at his foster home. The dog would give him an appropriate correction and he would stop. We believe he can get along with another dog, it will just require the owner to help him learn and understand proper boundaries.
🛑 Some resource guarding.
He has shown some signs of resource guarding with his food and sometimes toys. He takes treats from your hand just fine but he is defensive of his food bowl. He was a stray for an unknown amount of time. This is an issue that can be fixed but it just takes time.
Rhys likes to “chomp” his teeth at you when he gets nervous/scared. He has not bitten me and I have put him in alot of uncomfortable positions over the last 6 weeks (baths, brushing, vet appointments, etc). However, I am a dog trainer so I am pretty in tune with his body language and the decisions he might be about to make. He just gets scared because he has had a really rough start to life. There is a great dog in there, he is so loving and sweet, he just needs a leader that is patient and willing to work with him through these little quirks. We will be highly selective in who adopts Rhys, we want him to be successful.

Baxter is the last to be adopted of Bonnie’s 8 puppies born on February 15, 2023 here at the Mylo Foundation. Baxter is so handsome. He has a gorgeous blue and white coat. He’s also very smart. He was returned through no fault of his own about 6 months ago and has been in training every since. He’s still a very playful big puppy but he listens well and learns very easily.
