**BACK Street CAT Rescue (BSCR) is a non-profit no -kill all volunteer organization that works hard everyday to rescue and care for homeless cats and kittens in the upper Ohio Valley of WV and Ohio. This is a labor of love which includes attending to the cats' medical needs, spaying/neuteri

ng, tests, vaccinations, first-aid care and importantly a really, really healthy dose of human affection, kindness and love. Back Street Cat Rescue is not a 'bricks & mortar' operation, nor is It a shelter per se. BSCR places the cats and kittens they care for in their own homes and in the homes of caring foster families until forever homes can be found for them. Adopted
Our newest intake who hopped a ride to BSCR with Ashley & David is full of love and personality. Love Bug is a little guy with a big personality. He was spotted wandering around outside a car dealership in St. Clairsville which is no place at all for any kitten so Ashley went to get him there and on the way to Back Street Cat Rescue, he managed to escape, like a ninja, the carrier he was in and quietly crept up to his new friends so he could snuggle, cuddle and kiss them all the way 'home'. Big hugs and kitty kisses for Hannah who in 2024 adopted two litter mates, Cotton & Velvet, and started off 2025 by providing a loving home to two more litter mates, Jack Frost & Chestnut! What a lovely feline family!😽

Please share our new family consisting of Mother Salt and her daughters Wilhelmina (1y?) and Isadora (6mo?). As we posted yesterday, Ashley is doing her best to keep Salt comfortable until her biopsy comes back.

Please share. When we took Salt, along with her two daughters, into our care a few days ago, I noticed she had a swollen lip so I got her into our vet immediately.
Currently, Dr. Moore thinks Salt has what is called an eosinophilic ulcer or what is commonly called a rodent ulcer, although it has nothing to do with rodents. It's an allergic reaction.(See comments for picture.) Salt was spayed today and while under anesthesia, Dr. Moore was able to examine Salt's mouth better and found these odd growths on the back of her tongue. These were biopsied and sent out for further testing. At this point, we aren't sure if it has to do with the eosinophilic ulcers or something else. I was told by the person i rescued her from that she has had a swollen lip for months. Salt is here now and is on a few different mediations until we get the results back from the biopsy.
Salt is the sweetest girl. She loves pets and loves to make biscuits when I pet her. She's very friendly and craves attention and affection. It is really sad that she has endured this medical condition for so long. She can use all the prayers that we are able to get her feeling better and that it is something treatable. If you would like to help us help Salt, we could definitely use and appreciate donations to pay for her medical expenses. s

We are so happy for Noelle and Molly who were adopted Saturday! Noelle's kittens, Chestnut and Jack Frost, are still available to a good home together.(See picture of them below of Jack frost telling his brother, Chestnut, it will be okay after their mama, Noelle, left PSP to go to her forever home.

Our newest Rescue, Noelle & her Newborn Sons

Please Share 😽 This sweet momma, Noelle, almost a kitten herself at around 6 mo old and her two darling baby boys, Chestnut & Jack Frost ('Chestnuts roasting on an open fire' 'jack Frost nipping at your nose') were rescued yesterday. They had found shelter in a hay box for goats where momma gave birth. During the chilling cold temperatures they were brought inside and we were contacted about rescuing them. As young as mamma is, she tried finding the safest and warmest place she could to give birth to her darling little babies. Although polluted with fleas and an eye infection, they are pretty healthy considering. They are all now safe and warm and being loved, cared for, and spoiled with all the good food they can eat, clean warm beds to sleep on, and toys to play with! How adorable are they playing with toys for the first time ever! And these little cuties even used the litter box first day they were here! *Don't forget you can help us continue to care for sweet little families like this one by stopping at our fundraiser on December 21st at Pet Supplies plus in St. Clairsville 12-4. We will have a ton of baked goods, breads, pies, pepperoni rolls and a limited amount of cookie trays.We will also have a basket raffle. If you can, please stop by to visit our kitties and help us continue to be able to help them.

Please share update- Caleb:Bed rest? "Yeah, right. I wanna play!" Caleb Caleb has been the kitty waiting for the longest for a forever home. He is a neat, lovable, friendly, good kitty who deserves the love and security of a wonderful home. Prayers the sprint helps his leg heal without amputation.

Caleb update - Please share. We are often amazed by the indomitable feline spirit that allows cats to persevere through adversity. To take any circumstance in stride. But Caleb takes it to the next level. "Caleb is doing fabulous! Acts like nothing's wrong. How he gets around the cage with that splint and uses the litter box amazes me. He doesn't even make a mess! Unfortunately, I have to keep him in a crate for 4 weeks. I hate doing it, but Caleb manages to play with his toys and the other cats through the cage! He would definitely play n' run and jump if I let him and that splint is huge! I don't know how he does it. When his leg healed, Caleb deserves the very best home! Ashley
