MSPCA at Northeast is seeking animal-lovers who are interested in working hands-on with our dogs and cats in 2025! We are the largest relocation center in New England, and we welcome pets from four large transports each week from overcrowded shelters throughout the country – and we need volunteers to help take care of the pets when they arrive so we can continue helping when pets and other shelters need us most.
Our current volunteers gave 15,000 hours of service to the care of over 5,000 animals in 2023 and 2024 – and we are excited to grow that number in 2025. Volunteers will be responsible for aiding staff in the cleaning, feeding, and socializing of animals during their stay with us before adoption! No prior animal shelter experience is necessary, but familiarity being around and caring for cats or dogs is preferred.
We have a goal to onboard more volunteers in a single month than ever before, so we are looking for volunteers who can start as early as February 2025. At the MSPCA, we provide our volunteers a virtual orientation, hands-on training with a mentor, Fear Free Shelters certification, and access to our Volunteer Library with additional resources and learning materials. The last date to apply for February start is January 23rd, and Orientation will be January 27th (with a make up date if you can’t make it!)
If you are interested in learning more and applying to be a volunteer, please go to mspca.org/neasvolunteer to read the Dog Care and Cat Care position descriptions and to fill out an application. Applications will be reviewed and interviews will be scheduled on a rolling basis.
