Independence Day is a week away! July 4th = Fireworks so read below for tips on how to best prepare ahead of time in case your dog gets loose.

More pets go missing around the 4th of July than any other time of the year with reports spiking 30-60% according to AKC Reunite. While fireworks can be exciting for us, they are often very stressful and overwhelming for our pets. If a pet feels scared, they will do anything to get as far away as possible.
Follow these simple tips to ensure you and your pets have a safe 4th of July:

1) Stay Inside – Keep pets indoors away from all of the action. This will ensure they can’t run off when spooked by fireworks or become too overwhelmed by any holiday festivities.

2) Make Them Feel Safe – Comfort pets by petting, talking to them or offering treats. Be sure they have access to a quiet place they consider safe such as a crate, bedroom, or bathroom.

3) Avoid the Noise – To minimize the noise of fireworks, turn on the TV or stereo and be sure to close doors and windows.

4) ID Your Pet – It’s very important for your pet to be wearing some form of identification; make sure they have a collar and tag with a current phone number and/or address. If your pet is microchipped, please make sure the chip is registered and your contact information is up to date.

Sugar, a 5-6 yr old, female, spayed, boxer mix needs a home. We rescued her back in March due to being heartworm positive. She had been totally treated and needs a home now. Our clinic rescued these two dogs from the local Animal Care and Control. Brandy, the 18 lb, female terrier/ doxin mix, was hit by a car and had a fractured pelvis and a fractured left femur. We have paid for all her surgeries and have totally vetted her. She just needs out of a
Cage and into a home. Sugar, our lab boxer mix, had heartworms. She has finished her treatments and is ready to go too. Please help us get these dogs adopted. We feel it is sad to have them grow up in cages. Come by and see them or call us at (561)686-6033.

Brandy is an 18 lb, female spayed mini short legged doxin/ hound mix. She was hit by a car and fractured her pelvis and left hind leg. She was taken into the Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control. We took her a few days later and paid to have her fracture repaired. She is now spayed and fully vetted. This sweet 1 year old, female, pointer mix was found by a client who can not keep her. She is good with other dogs and children. She is totally vaccinated. We are spaying her June 11 and starting heartworm treatment that day. If you are interested in adopting her, please let us know. (561)686-6033. The client is keeping her in his house until she can find her forever home. She is extremely sweet, calm, and gentle.

Sugar, a five year old lab boxer mix, needs a home. She is from Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control. She came to us over a month ago with heartworms. She has totally finished her treatments and now needs to find a home. She is very loving and house broken. She does not like dogs who over power her. We do not know how she is with cats.
