I am unable to take any skulls this year due to other work out of state. Ron at Graybeard’s Beetles does awesome work. Hit him up for any of your European mounts and skulls this fall. You will not be disappointed!

Shameless plug…Graybeards offers artificial velvet for all you early season caribou hunters who want to preserve their memories.

Who we are...

Bare Bones Beetleworks LLC is a small taxidermist shop specializing in the cleaning of skulls and bones using dermestid beetles. Dermestid beetles are a type of beetle that consumes meat and sinew and provide an excellent way of preparing skulls and trophies for display. They are native to nearly every part of North America and are known as “nature’s clean-up crew.” We maintain a colony year round to prepare trophies from Alaska for European mount or simple display.

Many taxidermists will boil skulls to remove meat and sinew; this process can damage the bone structure, particularly the delicate bones in the nasal passage. The alternative is maceration, or allowing the specimen to rot until the flesh falls of the bone. Our process uses beetles that will quickly remove all material from the bone without damaging the bone itself.

Whether it is that spring bear, caribou, or any other animal you take while enjoying the wonderful hunting and trapping Alaska has to offer, give us a call to prepare your trophy for display.
