I can’t believe he’s a senior!! This is Jack, and if you’ve been following my photography page for a while, you just might recognize him. When he was a kid, I practiced on while taking classes… then he was one of my 1st professional photo shoots… and now he’s standing tall and proud as a senior in High School. I love spending time with him and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this guy!🥰

To those who aren’t quite ready to embrace the inevitable cold season ahead, I bring you a little bit of sunshine.
When I think back to this session, I remember how fun it was to walk around and discover all the places that offered a balance of sun and shade. Claire was so willing to try anything and it shows in the pictures!
This session is just another reason I love taking senior pictures. ❤️

Today I celebrate these two lovebirds! I was so honored to shoot this ❤️ The surprise engagement was full of love and laughter and even a few family members tucked around the corner anxiously waiting to come out and celebrate with the happy couple. I have to admit, I felt all the feels myself!! 🥰

Jumping in on the 'late summer vibes' comes naturally for AJ, he's an athletic superstar after all! Being around him and hearing all that he's involved with really made me miss the days when my kids were in high school.
It can seem like it takes forever to get to your Senior Year, and then it flies by faster than most can imagine! Take time to smell the roses, AJ! (Mom and dad too!) This is a fun ride!

Even if I sound like a broken recorded, I’m going to keep saying how much fun I have at Senior Sessions! And I’ll admit, this guy just happens to be one of my favorite people, so that only added to my fun.
My nephew is going places, and I am lucky to have a front row seat to it all 🤩

This time of year brings the kind of photo shoots that I usually can count on, Senior Sessions! And while the 17 and 18 year olds celebrate the beginning of new chapters in life, I can’t help but mention that this time of year can be perfect for any occasion!
I recently had a Family Session for my cousin who came to Michigan for a family wedding. Since everyone was going to be dressed for the wedding, they took the opportunity meet me in a nearby park and celebrate the family being together. The mood was light, the weather was great and this group was happy to be together!!

One question I get asked a lot is 'what should I wear for my photo shoot?'. There are some suggestions I can make based on who I am photographing, the occasion, the setting, but I always just want people to just be themselves and wear what makes them happy. From now on, I'm going to use the session I just shot for the Robertson family as a good example of that advice.
This session was a Mother's Day present for their matriarch. She wore white denim jeans and jacket with a vibrant red top, making her the star of the session. All of the other family members had one goal, blue jeans and black tops. I love how each of them interpreted that to suit their own style. It wasn't too 'matchy', it didn't force anyone to wear anything they wouldn't be comfortable with. It was simple and coordinated and best of all, everyone felt like themselves. Another tip I like to share is to think about where you'll be displaying the portrait in your home, what what styles/colors would suit that area?
When was the last time you had family portraits done? What colors would you choose? Do you like portraits that are relaxed and casual or do you like something more formal and buttoned up?

What a fun way to kick off the spring photo season! I was lucky enough to be able to take some ‘fun lessons’ from this group as they gathered for an annual family get-away. The smiles are genuine because the laughter never stops with this crowd!

While deciding what to say about this spectacular senior, my first thoughts went to the nice family he comes from. I had the pleasure of getting to know this family 2 years ago when I photographed the eldest son for his senior pictures. Now, its Conner's turn and I was so happy to catch up with everyone, and meet more of the siblings!
Conner came to the session knowing what he wanted to capture in our time together. We got right down to work, dodging shadows and seeking shade to take the edge off of the high temps we had that day. (Remember the post I made about pretending not to be hot at a photoshoot? THIS IS THAT SHOOT!)
I couldn't ask for a nicer group of people to spend that afternoon with!
