FEBRUARY IS AMERICAN HEART MONTH!
Maximize the awareness of heart health during February by taking advantage of Lake Medical Imaging’s Calcium Scoring Test, which is a fast, painless, non-invasive scan of the coronary arteries to help determine your risk of coronary artery disease (or heart attack).
Multiple images of the heart are captured in seconds and the amount of calcium or hard plaque within the coronary arteries is determined. One of our board-certified Radiologists then determines the score. Calcium Scoring can identify those people who have yet to experience the symptoms of plaque buildup that are present in their coronary arteries to the heart. Consequently, it’s typical for these individuals to receive treatment in time.

May has been designated National Osteoporosis Month in order to raise awareness for this silent, progressive disease characterized by decreased bone density and increased bone fragility. Osteoporosis may progress silently for decades, with no symptoms until fractures occur, so early detection and intervention are crucial. Our radiologists utilize DEXA (dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry) scans to categorize patients as normal, osteopenic (a low bone mass that is not as severe as osteoporosis), or osteoporotic. The earlier the diagnosis of bone loss, the better the chances for modification of potential future fracture through pharmaceutical intervention and resistance exercise.
