Thankful for all of my sweet clients who are being patient with me at this time!
Back story: Remember the time I had emergency surgery from a cat bite to the finger joint back in March?!
Wellllll I’m back with osteomyelitis, a bone infection. Some of my finger bone has eroded away. This surgery wasn’t as intense and I’ll be back with your fur babies soon!
Love you all!

Today is , a reminder that knowing how to save a life—especially our furry friends—can make all the difference. While having to administer CPR to your pet can be terrifying, being prepared can help you act calmly and confidently in an emergency.

Stay Calm:
1️⃣ Breathe: Take a few deep breaths to steady yourself. Focus on the feeling of the air filling your lungs.
2️⃣ Delegate: If there are bystanders, assign them tasks like finding the nearest emergency vet.
3️⃣ Focus: Keep your mind clear. Concentrate on the steps ahead and stay in the moment.

When to Start CPR:
🐾 Your pet isn’t responding
🐾 Your pet isn’t breathing
🐾 You can’t feel a heartbeat or pulse

How to Perform CPR:
Compressions:
❤️ Position your pet on their side.
❤️ Deliver 120 compressions per minute (2 per second).
❤️ For every 30 compressions, give 2 breaths.

Breaths:
❤️ Close your pet’s mouth and seal it with your fingers.
❤️ Cover their nose with your mouth and give 2 breaths—enough to make their chest rise.
❤️ Check for a heartbeat after 2 minutes. If there’s no pulse, continue.

When to Stop CPR:
🐾 Your pet starts breathing and responding
🐾 You reach the vet clinic and they take over
🐾 You can’t continue physically
🐾 Your pet starts breathing but is still unconscious

Recovery Position:
Place your pet’s head to the side, slightly tilting down (unless there’s head trauma).

Compression Techniques:
🐶 Medium to Large Dogs: Compress one third of the chest depth.
🐱 Small Dogs/Cats: Use your thumb and fingers for compression, or compress directly over the heart.

Stay prepared and know that you can make a difference in your pet's life! ❤️

😎 STAY COOL! 😎
We’ve seen an uptick in heat strokes with the rising temperatures recently, do you know the signs and how to prevent them?

A healthy body temperature is anywhere between 99 and 103 degrees. Heat exhaustion begins to occur at 104 degrees and anything over 104 degrees puts your dog at risk of a heat stroke and possibly death. If you suspect your dog is having a heat stroke:
☀️ Bring your pet inside immediately. Give them an open space to lay down with plenty of air flow
💨 Place a fan nearby if you have one. Have your dog lay on a cool (not cold) towel
💧Offer a bowl of water to drink. You may also take a COOL washcloth and wipe their face and coat to expedite the cooling process. Never use ice or ice water!
📞 Call us and let us know you are on the way if your dog falls unconscious or doesn’t seem to be improving within minutes. Seconds can be the difference between life and death in this Florida heat!

If you are concerned, so are we! We always recommend bringing your pet in for an exam as a “better safe than sorry” approach. Don’t forget, we are open for walk-in visits from 10am-10pm daily!

Spending the holiday week with LOTS of critters.
And having a Christmas slumber party with Daisy and Duke. They’re so sweet and cuddly 🥰

As Christmas gets closer, please remember that although a puppy might be on a wish list, they are NOT presents. Every January shelters and rescues fill up even more with puppies (and kitties!) that people don't want once the cuteness wears off and the reality of pet ownership sets in. Dogs are a lifetime commitment with an average lifespan of 15 years. Please think carefully before getting or giving a dog as a gift!

I can’t believe it! We’re back in!

Apologies if we haven’t answered messages or if any strange posts through this account have come up.

The Sit and Stay account and my personal account were hacked nearly a month ago and it was extremely difficult to get back.

Be on the lookout for any messages claiming to be “Facebook.” I received multiple legitimate-looking messages (through the app even) claiming that the account would be disabled if I didn’t submit credentials.
Soon after, my name was changed to “Meta Copyright Infringement” which was even more confusing.

Thank you for your patience. We’re glad to be back!

Trustworthy and Reliable

Caring for animals is my passion. My career will always remain in the field of helping animals. Their love, loyalty, and gratitude are just a few admirable traits that inspire me daily.

I am comfortable in working with special needs pets, such as those with separation anxiety, epilepsy, diabetes, or other medical conditions. Additionally, I specialize in administering different kinds of medications including pills, eye drops, ointments and liquid syringes. I also have experience giving insulin injections, and caring for seniors, blind pets and pets after surgery.

All breeds and sizes are accepted. My years as a veterinary technician has gained me valuable experience to be able to be calm, assertive, and above all loving to your pet.

Sit and Stay Pet Sitting is insured, bonded and trained in pet first aid and CPR. I am dedicated to keeping your pets safe, happy and healthy.
