Today we post with heavy hearts. Our Matriarch Rue was sent over the Rainbow Bridge with her sibling Titan the Frenchie. Rue has been struggling with Alzheimer’s and aging bones since November. With meds she had a good month until this past weekend when her pain became unmanageable with multiple medications. Titan the Frenchie suffered a ruptured disc due to degenerative disease. We aggressively treated with steroids, pain meds, physical therapy, light therapy and rest. Sadly he wasn’t gaining any function in his back legs and he was always in pain and miserable.
The decision was made to let both go humanely to end their suffering. It’s hard letting one go let alone two. Despite being devastated we know we made the right choice for them and they both ran over the Rainbow Bridge together. They are no longer in pain and they’ve joined all the pups we’ve loved and lost over the years.

Hello, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. I wish I was posting better news but sadly it’s pretty somber.
Our matriarch of G. Lane Labradors Rue has fallen ill. Approximately 2 years ago Rue was diagnosed with begin stages of Alzheimer’s. Fast forward to current date recently Rue has been experiencing a little unsteadiness in her hind legs, nothing too major but it comes with age & her rough playtime with her kids. She woke up earlier this week unable to put weight on her left leg & definitely appearing in a lot of pain. We took her to the ER Vet and X-rays only showed arthritis and degenerative disease. She did have some swelling over her spine near hips. We were given pain meds and orders for strict rest. We were also told to follow up with her normal vet for a recheck. Over the past couple of days we’ve seen little improvement and unfortunately couldn’t get her into her vet as the holidays day approaches. Although the pain meds have helped it seemed we were just falling short on good pain management. Today we decided to take her back the the ER despite her showing some improvement and alertness. As we wanted to make sure we had enough pain meds to get through the holiday weekend. We also wanted to see what other options as she was still pretty uncomfortable at the end of the day. This vet was able to do a more comprehensive physical evaluation. What she suspects is a neurological disorder opposed to an orthopedic issue. It seems her brain struggles to get the message to her hind legs on what to do, hence the unsteadiness we were seeing. The swelling may be a rapid growing tumor that goes along with this neuro problem.
The treatment for this would be radiation and/or surgery. Rue would have to go to a neurologist and have an MRI to confirm these suspicions. The vet also discussed with us on how Rue’s age of 13 & her Alzheimer’s plays into this decision. It’s all about the quality of one’s life and what stress we want to put her in if we decide to treat.
With that said we were given a special harness to assist her when she needs it & a few different pain meds to help us find which works best to keep her comfortable and happy. Yes despite all this Rue is still a happy girl and still wants to play with her toys.
Scott and I have decided to give Rue some time to improve on her own as we have seen some improvement each day.
We know we are going to have to make some very difficult decisions for our precious girl Rue. For now we are diligent in keeping her pain free and as happy as possible considering the circumstances. We remain dedicated to giving our pups th best life possible and we’re committed to making the best decisions possible for Rue.

Happy Mother’s Day to our girl Rue. She’s still the best mom ever to her two pups from the first litter Moose & Jade. She still worries about them when they’re outside too late & she’ll give up her comfort on the couch or in the backseat to make the big babies more comfortable. Hope all the G.Lane folks are having a wonderful Mothers Day! ✌️❤️😊

Today is National Pet Day! So I didn’t want the day too pass without mentioning our pups. They travel with us everywhere and provide us with just enough crazy each and every day.

Happy Pi day & Happy Birthday to Rue’s second litter turning 6 yrs old.

Sorry G.Lane family has been absent for a while. Life got crazy busy & I was hacked & lost my FB page & contacts plus we sold our home.
We traveled a bit full time with our pups Rue, Moose, Jade & Titan we replanted in Colorado & we had a fantastic wedding between my handsome Son Ash & his beautiful wife Cassie.
We still plan on traveling & spending time with family while we enjoy what retirement has to offer.
To all our pups, we think about you all the time & we can still be reached by contacts written in your contracts & through messaging here.
