A Jewish family Karnofsky, who immigrated from Lithuania to the United States, took pity on the 7-year-old boy and brought him to their home.
There he stayed and spent the night in this Jewish family home, where for the first time in his life he was treated with kindness and tenderness.
When he went to bed, Mrs Karnovski sang him Russian lullabies, which he sang with her.
Later he learned to sing and play several Russian and Jewish songs.
Over time, this boy became the adopted son of this family.
Mr. Karnofsky gave him money to buy his first musical instrument, as was the custom in Jewish families.
Later, when he became a professional musician and composer, he used these Jewish melodies in compositions such as St. James's Hospital and Go Down Moses.
The little boy grew up and wrote a book about this Jewish family, who adopted him in 1907. And proudly spoke Yiddish fluently.
In memory of this family and until the end of his life, he wore the Star of David and said that in this family he learned "to live a real life and determination."
This little boy's name was Louis Armstrong. This little boy was called Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong. Louis Armstrong proudly spoke fluent Yiddish and “Satchmo” is Yiddish for “big cheeks, a nickname some say was given to him by Mrs. Karnofsky! "NON RIDERS TAKE NOTE!!!!!
Riders know this, but the general public may not be aware. If you have never been part of a benefit ride you should know at least this:
Bikers PAY to ride. Something they could do for free. But they choose to pay to ride, the fee can be anywhere between $10 to $20 or $30 per person. Not only do they pay to ride, they usually drop a lot of cash for the extras. Raffles, 50/50, and silent auctions, even Toy Runs for kids....
When you witness a group passing by, chances are they're riding for charity or noble causes! Instead of getting frustrated over traffic disruptions or minor delays, kindly bear in mind: They are exceptionally generous individuals!!!
Give them space and your patience. It sometimes helps to have a little reminder about things. So please be patient and smile when you see them because they are doing something good for someone you may know, or for a good cause. ❤️🙏

On a recent day, in Durham, North Carolina, brothers Jonathan and Stephen Full were having lunch with their kids at a Chik-Fil-A when all of a sudden, two soldiers walked in, and they were quickly followed by 9 more soldiers.
Jonathan stood up, and decided to set an example for his son. Out of extreme respect, he had always wanted to buy a meal for a soldier, and now was his chance. He was only going to buy a meal for one, then he quickly changed his mind and decided to buy the meals for every soldier inside the restaurant. He realized he couldn’t just stop at one.
Says Jonathan: “What I felt moving through my heart is I didn’t care if 200 more showed. I was still going to buy the meal.”
And it seemed like he was buying a meal for an entire platoon. And older brother Stephen snapped some shots of Jonathan with the soldiers, and them showing appreciation for his generosity, and he was very proud of him.
But there was another reason Jonathan wanted to buy the soldiers’ meals. Says Stephen, on the photos he posted to Facebook: “As he paid for their meals, in remembrance of our late brother Joshua who suffered mentally from severe PTSD, he asked them to reach out to anyone they knew with PTSD and try their best to get them the help they needed. We thanked them for their service and left. Taught our boys to take care of the people that take care of us.”
And then Stephen asked all the readers of his post to share it, so that many others could realize just how much PTSD can affect those outstanding men and women who fight for our country.

"I was just in line at the gas station to get some gas minding my own business.. It was this young lady in front of me taking forever.. I overheard the cashier tell her that both of the cards were declined 😳 she said, 'Is something wrong with your machine?' She turned around to walk away and I had a smile on my face.. She said to me 'Why are you f**king smiling?' I said to her 'Watch your mouth; I always smile and you should too.' I looked at the cashier and said, 'What pump number is she on?' He said, 'Pump number two, why?' I said, 'Can I put $20 on pump number two for her?' He said, 'Are you serious she was very rude to you'. It was another black guy behind me he said go ahead and fill it up...We split the cost of her gas. When we stepped outside to inform her about the gas, the woman apologized profusely and wept uncontrollably..she went inside her truck to show us her new hire paperwork😊☺️ she started work on Monday so she needed gas for the week until she gets paid... Lord thank you for reminding me of all the reasons why I should keep a smile on my face. That goes to show you we never know what a person is going through And we all have a purpose on this earth!"

"My phone rang and it was a number I didn’t recognize. Knowing my kids were in the afternoon hours of getting home from school I immediately answered knowing it was one of them. You know how your Mama instinct just knows something is up? On the other end his little cracking voice said 'Mama, I got on the wrong bus.'
This is his first year in middle school. Can we even imagine what a new middle schooler deals with these days, I mean, it’s a different kind of stress. I knew my little guy was stressing out. After all it was only his second afternoon riding home, since he normally has football. As I am talking to my son and he is speaking with the bus driver I could feel his frustration. The tone of his voice when he told the bus driver 'I’m so sorry’ was one of worry. Then on the other end of the line I heard a calming nurturing response as she said, 'oh honey, you don’t have to apologize. That’s my job, to get you home safely. And that’s what we’re gonna do.’ My Mama-heart melted knowing she was comforting him. I can’t help but think of the many other responses he could have received. She went out of her way to console him.
Before I could even get to pick him up she had him call me back and ask permission to take him in to get a drink. Cue the tears. What a thoughtful person. She actually got him an ice cream while they waited for me. (Again tears)
When I arrived at our agreed upon location she walked him over and explained how she noticed he felt terrible and anxious. He had even asked if he 'messed everything up.' My poor guy. She wanted to make sure he didn’t have to tell me everything and stress over it again. ♥️
I pray everyday God places people in our paths and in the right places to watch over my children when I’m not there. And today He did just that. This angel truly showed the love of Christ in her actions and care for my son. I won’t let her actions go unnoticed and this story will be shared with her leaders.
I’m not sure how your day is going. But I encourage you the next time you are inconvenienced to take a look around. It might not be about you after all."

"WOW okay so the most amazing thing just happened to me and I can’t help but share it with the world. American Airlines instituted a new policy where you have to pay to take a carry-on onto the plane. Which is ridiculous but off topic. I consolidate my bags into one and they measure it and say it’s just a little too big. They proceed to charge me $50, except they only take credit card, no cash. Since I just got back from Europe all my cards are being declined as Chase doesn’t know I’m back. They tell me that I’m going to have to miss the flight and head back to the ticket counter to pay down there. I’m pleading, devastated after a long day of travel. Then, this man walks up and says, “How much is it?” They tell him $50 and he says “I got it.” I’m astonished and tell him it’s fine not to worry and he hands the lady his card as the American Airlines employees stand in silence shocked by this man’s generosity. They swipe the card and he tells me to have a great flight and hop on board. I’m crying as I write this and as I board the flight. This man was an angel. I stop him as he’s sitting in first class and try to give him my money but he just shook me off and told me to pay it forward. My heart is so happy. There are good people in this world. Be that person for someone because I know after this I sure will be." 💕 Update: It was NFL player, Jermaine Gresham.

Keanu Charles Reeves missed the first 20 minutes of the party dedicated to the end of filming of his new film in one of the clubs in New York.
He waited patiently in the rain to be let in.
No one recognized him.
The club owner said: "I didn't even know Keanu was standing in the rain waiting to be let in - he didn't say anything to anyone."
"He travels by public transport".
"He easily communicates with homeless people on the street and helps them".
- He is only 56 years old (September 2, 1964)
- He can just eat a hot dog in the park, sitting between ordinary people.
- After filming one of the "Matrix", he gave all the stuntmen a new motorcycle - in recognition of their skill.
- He gave up most of the fee for the salaries of costume designers and computer scientists who draw special effects in "The Matrix" - decided that their share of participation in the budget of the film was underestimated.
- He reduced his fee in the film The Devil's Advocate" to have enough money to invite Al Pacino.
- Almost at the same time his best friend died; his girlfriend lost a child and soon died in a car accident, and his sister fell ill with leukemia.
Keanu did not break: he donated $ 5 million to the clinic that treated his sister, refused to shoot (to be with her), and created the Leukemia Foundation, donating significant sums from each fee for the film.
You can be born a man, but to remain one..

I debated posting this picture but considering that today many of us are gonna be thankful for what we have and are gonna be spending it with those we love, eating very yummy food, I changed my mind. I didn't know my boyfriend had captured this moment. A couple of day's ago we went to eat late at night and as we waited for our order i saw this homeless lady walk in asking people that were throwing away there leftovers if she could have them. Not one person said yes, they all ignored her and threw it away it broke my heart...I have been volunteering with the homeless now for many years... they don't repulse me or make me sick to my stomach. I hold them all with so much love. So I told Fred if I see her before we are done eating I will give her my food. I looked for her as we were getting ready to leave and couldn't find her.....I felt sad knowing all the rejection she had that night searching for a warm meal. As I was gonna throw away my one leftover chicken strip and like 5 fries I heard a very quite voice ask me if I had anything left. I turned around and it was her..l gave her my food and watched her sit and eat it.....but something didn't feel right...I felt like a horrible human being feeding her my leftover chicken strip..she deserved so much more...so I bought her a whole meal..she deserved to eat a hot meal. When I ordered the meal I asked the employee for a huge favor to please do not kick her out as we waited...I could already see the disgust on people's faces as she sat at the table eating the leftovers I had given her....news flash people not all homeless people smell like roses. She was getting ready to get up and leave when I surprised her with this meal....the look on her face said it all...I have never felt something like this...pure, real gratitude. That hug she gave me was like a hug I had never felt....those tears she shed were felt deep in my heart...I held her tight and let her let it out. I wasn't repulsed by it....I just held her. And that is a moment I will never ever forget. So next time u judge a homeless person think twice...not all of them are homeless because of a drug addiction or because they are lazy.

Hi I posted a couple days ago about mr fox sleeping in the bed I got him and here he is this evening .
A few of the comments made quite upset me so I want to put this straigh.,
I’m not doing this for me …. He has been coming to my gardn since I moved in 9 weeks ago and is very tame and when I saw him sleeping under the trees all wet and sad I had the idea for the beds.
He is free to come and go as he wants I’m not trapping him or keeping him as a pet.
He often brings his mate
I have no intention of moving for years so he will always have me and my partner.
In such a harsh world all I’m trying to do is give this sweetie some comfort to lay his head in along wth some food.
I hope that clears up some nasty comments about me trying to Make him a pet and how awful I am...

"My husband and I were in the ER and an elderly lady was wheeled out to leave. She told the receptionist she had no family or ride home. I was saddened to see some (not all) of the employees lack of concern as to how she would get home. All of the sudden this AMAZING gentleman who had been waiting with his wife approached the lady and told her he would gladly take her home. This man not knowing her or having a clue where she lived volunteered his time to care of this lovely woman. She offered to pay but he kindly declined like any good man would. As he went to get his truck I wheeled her out and put her in the vehicle. As I watched them drive away my only thoughts were 'there are still great people in this world' 'and 'We have to care for our elders like this nice man.' I did get a little info from his wife. His name is Jeffery and he is military here at Ft.Campbell KY. Not only does this man serve our great country, he serves his great little community. I just wanted to give a little recognition and respect to this man. Jeffery, if you see this, just know your deeds are recognized and appreciated by your community. Thank you Sir for serving our country and our community."

I’m just about to turn 65. I’ve been employed as an airline pilot for 36 years. I’m reasonably intelligent, but admittedly far from a wunderkind, and with no offers to work for the JPL or NASA. Pretty much an average guy who’s outstanding at being humble. At at age 64, I had to learn how to fly the most complex and advanced airliner currently in service, the Airbus A350. I had flown the relatively simplistic Boeing 767 for the past 25 years, and had never flown an Airbus, which is completely different in almost every way from a Boeing. I was the oldest person to attempt going through the Delta’s A350 Initial Qualification training program. I was warned that even much younger pilots were finding the training to be extremely challenging, and that because of my age, success might not be an option. It was an extremely complex airplane. The training manual is literally 7000 pages long. Countless Training videos, 6 weeks of simulators, extremely difficult electronic and oral exams. “It can’t be done, old guy”, many said.
BU****IT! I went through the training and actually had an easy time of it. It was no more challenging than when I went through MD-11 training in 1991, at age 34, even though the A350 was a much more difficult training program. I had no decline in my learning ability in 30 years, and aced the very challenging program without any trouble. If I can maintain my ability to easily learn complex tasks into my mid-60’s, hell, anyone can.
To answer the question: For some it might be age 30, or 40, or 50, etc, etc. However, everyone is different. Some people are still extremely lucid and able to learn well into their 90’s. Don’t assume. Don’t count yourself out at any age. Don’t be prejudiced against older people and sell them short, because many of them are still as sharp or even sharper than you. Treat all people well, especially older people, because in the blink of an eye you’re going to be one of them, and you’re going to love it when someone treats YOU with dignity and a little bit of respect.

"I am a transit bus operator (UTA). Today as I pulled up to a bus stop in Bountiful, Utah, I saw into the garage of a home adjacent to the bus stop. Situated inside the garage was a couple tables with canned and boxed foods, juices, water, diapers, wipes, hygiene products, and even the prized toilet paper.
There was a sign on the table that read—FREE for those who need it, take what you can use, leave something if you can (or something like that).
I know that several people on my bus were all in less than ideal circumstances, among them an elderly man in a wheelchair who lives in a dive motel in Swede town, a homeless teen, and a single mom doing her best.
I pointed out the table and signed to these folks, in disbelief they exited the bus and took only what they needed and came back to the bus with very big smiles on their faces, they were so grateful to this kind and generous gesture. I was humbled at their reactions and today my heart is full.
Thank you to the fine people in that home who showed selflessness and love for our brothers and sisters."

Every minute someone leaves this world behind.
We are all in “the line” without knowing it.
We never know how many people are before us.
We can not move to the back of the line.
We can not step out of the line.
We can not avoid the line.
So while we wait in line -
Make moments count.
Make priorities.
Make the time.
Make your gifts known.
Make a nobody feel like a somebody.
Make your voice heard.
Make the small things big.
Make someone smile.
Make the change.
Make love.
Make up.
Make peace.
Make sure to tell your people they are loved.
Make sure to have no regrets.
Make sure you are ready

27/10/2024

"My boyfriend and I were starving and the Whataburger down the street was calling our name so we went (we were going to go through drive-thru but that line was way too long so I decided to go inside instead)
I went inside and realized the inside line was a bit long too but I was too hungry to go anywhere else, so I waited. (the time is almost 1am because I work nights)
I realize the line isn't really moving so I start paying attention as to why, because there were several people working in the back. That's when I notice the cashier talking to a young couple in front of me. The girl ordered her food and the cashier just looked at her, smiled, and very faintly said 'I am deaf, can you please talk slower.' The girl lit up and said 'oh, of course!' and I heard her slow down her order for him. He still wasn't able to catch on so he smiled again, and got a piece of paper and a pen for them to write down their order. They did so without hesitation. Without a sign of impatience, just pure joy and genuine kindness to be helping that young working man do his job.
I watched even after I placed my own order to see how everyone would react to him, to see if anyone would lose their temper with him taking extra long or get impatient because they were having to be hungry even longer, and I was surprised because not one person acted rude or impatient. Every customer complied with him and wrote down their orders without any complaints, just smiling back at him.
I'm sharing this for two reasons. One, because he is a deaf person and has a job. He is disabled and is able to work at a place that forces him to strengthen his disability by communicating with people daily. He is a special person that was given a fair chance at a job and does so willingly and with a smile on his face. THAT is utterly impressive and remarkable. Kudos to Whataburger alone for allowing this young man to work
And second, with how twisted the world is becoming and after seeing so many people bully others on a daily basis, I can't tell you how refreshing it was to see these small acts of kindness demonstrated from so many different people. Seeing people forget their pride or their problems or even their hunger is something you don't see often. But at the end of the day, it's about others, not ourselves.
This was eye-opening for me and I will never forget that moment."

Late last night Myles went on & on about how he had to be twins with a boy in his class for Twin Day because they look exactly the same- same eyes, same hair.
He was adamant that they were identical.
So after the kids went to bed I headed to Walmart at 9pm to get matching outfits.
Their teacher sent me this picture today.
My heart melted.
Obviously two very different children, but Myles didn’t see that.
Wouldn’t the world be such a better place if we could all view it through the eyes of a couple 5yr olds♥️

"This was my autistic son putting up his felt Christmas tree today. After he decorated, he sat and cried for a while. After I asked him what was wrong, he replied, " I am sad because nobody will see my tree and all the hard work I have done " He then asked me could I post the image on my Facebook. So I obliged. Hope you pass the on so everyone can see Marks amazing tree. 🙂 "

27/10/2024

Back when I worked in fast food, a couple days after I started my night manager came upon a homeless guy rummaging through our Dumpster just before closing and he quickly had us make up a combo as his free meal for the night and gave it to the guy out back. After that, every night a guy would show up, but it was a different guy each time, and the manager would give away his meal to whoever it was. After about 9-10 days the first guy was back and the manager asked him why it'd been so long between visits, and the guy said they were taking turns (from a makeshift "camp" nearby) getting a decent meal. He said, "From now on, stop taking turns - bring everyone tomorrow."
He told the rest of us, and that next night we started paying a lot more attention to what we were throwing away. Anytime we had an item that was returned because we got it wrong or whatever, we took the returned item and put it aside. When we were supposed to throw out the fries because they were too old, we'd put them in a bag instead. Each of us was entitled to a free combo meal per workday, and most of us chose to give it up to the parking-lot guys. That night, eight guys showed up just before closing in the dark of our lot. Our night manager walked up to the group with a dozen bags of items, most of them hot and just-prepared, passed them around and said, "Come back tomorrow and we'll see what we can do."
This went on every night for the rest of the summer that I worked there. On lean nights when we didn't have as much to throw out or give away, he'd run across the highway to the grocery store and buy a loaf of bread and a pack of cheese with his own money and we'd make grilled cheese sandwiches for the men behind the building in the last minutes before we'd shut down.
I worked late nights at that fast-food store for just two months, and during that time we probably fed 8-10 guys a night for eight or nine weeks straight before I left to start back at school, and I bet the franchisee probably never knew about it. I had been raised in a pretty privileged environment but in that 2 months I learned how to give back and help out. We were just four teenaged girls working the night shift at a fast food place but we never felt threatened or unsafe - mostly we left at night feeling like maybe we did a little tiny bit of good for these guys.
A lot of people do want to help out. Let them.

This is not funny but very touching story.
Todays Kleenex Moment
I was at the corner grocery store buying some early potatoes. I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily apprising a basket of freshly picked green peas.
I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes. Pondering the peas, I couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me.
"Hello Barry, how are you today?" "H'lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus' admirin' them peas. They sure look good." "They are good, Barry. How's your Ma?" "Fine. Gittin' stronger alla' time."
"Good. Anything I can help you with?""No, Sir. Jus' admirin' them peas." "Would you like take some home?" asked Mr. Miller. "No, Sir. Got nuthin' to pay for 'em with."
"Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?" "All I got's my prize marble here." "Is that right? Let me see it" said Miller. "Here 'tis. She's a dandy." "I can see that. Hmmmmm, only thing is this one is blue, and I sort of go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home?" the store owner asked. "Not zackley but almost."
"Tell you what. Take this sack of peas home with you and next trip this way let me look at that red marble," Mr. Miller told the boy. "Sure will. Thanks Mr. Miller."
Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me. With a smile she said, "There are two other boys like him in town, all three are in very poor circumstances. Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes, or whatever. When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn't like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or an orange one, when they come on their next trip to the store."
I left the store, smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved to Colorado, but I never forgot the stor
