Helping Outside Animals

Helping Outside Animals A foster-based animal rescue in CT run by volunteers with f/t jobs. HOA originated in 2009 in NYC. We work with several reputable rescues.

We feed, trap, transport, foster, and provide medical care for strays in need, then get them into safe/loving homes. We work with authorities on enforcing the law pertaining to dogs who are being forced to live outdoors without adequate shelter, food and/or water. We also work on getting help for stray cats and/or TNR.

The Hartford City Council has put forward an ordinance that could limit the number of pets in a household in an effort to give animal control officers the resources they need to combat animal hoarding.

💚 PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE — Lavender needs a home ASAP! ❤️

This sweet girl has waited far too long, and it’s breaking our hearts. Lavender has been overlooked simply because she needs a home without strong scents like perfumes, scented candles, smoke, or heavy air fresheners. She has some allergies that could trigger a little asthma — just like people who have sensitivities. She is not on any meds. That’s it. Nothing complicated.

There must be someone out there who already keeps a scent-free or low-fragrance home for themselves… someone who could share that safe space with Lavender. 💜

Lavender has been with us a long time now, and she’s starting to lose hope. She’s no longer showing well because she’s just tired — tired of waiting, tired of being in a busy shelter, tired of not understanding why no one picks her.
💔 She deserves better.

The good news? She hasn’t had any allergic reactions since being with us — even with our cleaners and daily shelter chaos. Her previous owner for 3 1/2 years had no issues with her. It could have been a temporary & stress induced or a cold when she first came to the shelter. We only ask adopters to be aware of her sensitivities, not afraid of them. It is absolutely manageable.

We are more than willing to work with any approved adopter who wants to help Lavender.
💜 Foster-to-adopt is available so you can see how she does in a calmer home outside the busy shelter environment.

Lavender is a truly wonderful girl who just needs someone who can give her the simple, scent-free life she thrives in. Please help us give this beautiful soul the second chance she so deeply deserves. 🙏🐾

UPDATE: It took 12 hours to bring this coyote’s temperature back to normal. When he arrived, he was so cold our thermometer couldn’t even get a reading.

He’s being treated for severe hypothermia, mange, dehydration, emaciation, and rat poison exposure. His blood should have clotted in 2–5 minutes, but it took over 30, which is a strong indicator of rodenticide. Rat poison also weakens the immune system, making animals more vulnerable to mange.

Our team worked through the night on him - frequently checking his temperature and vitals. We are thrilled he survived.

He’s is out of the incubator this morning but the temperature in the room he is in was turned up to 80 degrees.

It warms my heart to know he has food in his belly and is finally able to rest comfortably after all he has endured.

A reminder tomorrow is giving Tuesday and we would greatly appreciate your support so we can continue to help our wildlife in need. 🙏

🚨 Urgent — Rescue, Foster, or Pledges Needed
📍 Location: New Haven

Two kittens, approximately 2–3 months old, are in urgent need of help. They are currently living outdoors and may not survive the cold winter temperatures. While they are shy and wary of people, they have the potential to become friendly with time, patience, and consistent care.

Both kittens appear healthy, but they are homeless and exposed to the elements. A Facebook commenter also noted that one of the kittens may be pregnant.

They are not yet handleable and have not allowed petting, but once they realized they were being fed, they began allowing someone to approach within about five feet. The kitten with the white chest and paws is the more confident of the two and allows slightly closer interaction.

These kittens urgently need rescue, foster placement, or pledges to secure safe care.
