Helping Outside Animals A CT foster based animal rescue, run by volunteers. We work with several reputable rescues and focus on areas where help is needed most.

We feed, trap, foster, transport, and provide medical care for strays in need, then get them into safe/loving homes. We work with authorities on enforcing the law pertaining to dogs who are being forced to live outdoors without adequate shelter, food and/or water. We also work on getting help for stray cats and/or TNR.

📣📣Important Update📣📣
Featuring beautiful friendly cats who have been patiently waiting for their forever homes.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our mission to help animals in Connecticut. Unfortunately, we cannot take in more cats at this time as we focus on addressing one of our feeding locations that has become known as a dumping ground for cats in the area.

We urgently need approved foster homes to help. If you can foster, please email us at [email protected] or submit an application to foster at https://form.jotform.com/243618028564157

We’re also moving away from Facebook Messenger for communication—please use email instead so we can appropriately track your case.

If you need help with an animal, please post on the Animal Emergency Network. We will still be able to share and network. Thank you for understanding and for standing with us!

URGENT ⚠️⚠️⚠️Waterbury, CT - This cat started appearing about two weeks ago near the finder’s home. He has a collar on but has been hanging out in the woods and is very hungry. Is anyone missing this cat? If this is your indoor/outdoor cat please keep them inside. It’s going to be freezing next week, if this cat got abandoned, we need to find him placement ASAP. He does not have winter coat/fur.

Please share, and email us at [email protected] with any information regarding this cat.

STRAW ONLY. Hay is for horses, straw is for strays.
🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫NO BLANKETS, NO BEDDING, NO TOWELS, etc.

🚨 Winter Weather is ahead and it looks to be very cold. The temperatures are going to be very dangerous for outdoor cats/dogs next week, especially Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. If you have outdoor cats or other animals, please please please make sure they have a place to get out of the cold. On top of that they are forecasting quite a bit of snow and ice.

Use straw (NOT HAY) for bedding, they can burrow down inside that and keep themselves quite warm. Please remember do not use blankets or towels as bedding, these can retain moisture from the air and freeze, literally freezing cats to death as they sleep.

Even if you are just feeding outdoor cats or know where some are residing, please give them some options even if this is an upside down tote with a small doorway and filled with straw, or whatever you have. It is better than nothing I promise. We've already had one kitty come in with hypothermia, and I would really like to not have it happen again.

Kittens will be very susceptible to the cold. If you are feeding outdoor kittens or have a nursing mom on your property, please bring them into your garage or a bathroom, anywhere with shelter. The temperatures will get cold enough that they can freeze to death. Paws and ears will be susceptible to frostbite, please watch your outdoor animals very closely, and consider bringing them in for these 3 days.

Praying for all the homeless ones, that they will be okay 💙

01/03/25 10:30 pm Update: He has not been able to be trapped. A small team of volunteers are working together to trap him.

01/03/25 @ 4:15 pm Update: It’s been determined that this cat will need to go to the ER (once trapped) which could be thousands of dollars. As of right now, there’s $855 in pledges in comments. Please continue networking him. 🙏🙏🙏

🚑🚑🚑 HARTFORD, CT: Pledges needed for vetting or rescue backing. We are working to help this cat. His eyes are crusted over with blood and he cannot open them. The landlord in the home he is near is not kind to the neighborhood strays. Once medically cleared, this cat will need an approved foster home, but the urgent need at the moment is for emergency vetting.
Pledges get honored electronically once the cat is off the streets and has a vetting appointment.

Lady, a 20-year-old cat, was surrendered by her family to BARCS Animal Shelter, located in Baltimore, Maryland.

They told the staff the reason was because Lady had some accidents outside of her litter box. Lady was terrified and confused as to why her family would abandon her.

The beautiful tuxedo feline was examined by a vet and it turns out she had valid reasons why she was having accidents in the house. The staff realized that she was almost completely blind and in the beginning stages of renal failure. After observing her, the staff told Love Meow, "Her aging, wobbly back legs sometimes make it difficult for her to get to her litter box in time."

She deserved to spend her golden years in a loving home. "After a lifetime of being a loyal and loving pet, she belongs in a home and with a family to prove to her that love is not conditional and to show her that even though she is sick, she is deserving of someone who will love her until her very last day."

The shelter posted a picture of Lady with the status, "She’s alone missing her home, scared, confused and wondering what she did to end up here. Where did her family go, when will they be back to get her? Where is her soft bed, and all of her favorite sun spots? No pet deserves to spend the end of their life in a shelter kennel—Lady needs an angel to save her."

Luck was on her side, Rebekah Carlyle, a veterinary tech, came across a post about Lady and she was immediately reminded of her beloved cat, Minnie. Rebekah adopted Minnie when she was 20-years-old from BARCS. It was love at first sight. The pair immediately bonded and it felt like they had been together for years.

Four short months after Minnie was adopted, she passed away from renal failure. Rebekah was heartbroken and told Love Meow, "I was absolutely shattered. They sent me home from work, I couldn't even function. I think about her every day." She knew that she had to help Lady and called the shelter to inquire about her.

Rebekah and her husband, James went to meet Lady and take her home. "The second I saw her, I lost it. I put my hand in the cage and she sniffed me then let me scratch her," Rebekah said. Lady was going home with her forever family who will love her unconditionally.

Lady was a bit nervous in her new home, but quickly warmed up to her new mom. Lady loves to lay in her mom's lap and isn't shy about asking for attention. She enjoys ear scratches and the comfort of her mom nearby as she eats. "Hi everyone! This picture right here is exactly why we do what we do," was posted as an update by James with a picture of Lady and Rebekah.

She was immediately started on a prescription diet for kidney health and her new mom is starting her on supplements to help with the arthritis in her back legs. "I am so happy to be able to help another, I feel like I owe it to Minnie. They didn't deserve to be thrown away after 20 years of the only thing they've ever known."

Lady will spend the rest of her days with people who love her unconditionally.
