In response to the tremendous outpouring of inquiries and support on social media regarding the Equestrians with Disabilities division at the NSBA World Championship Show, we want to thank you all for your call to action on behalf of that community within our horse show family.
Please know that all memberships and applications for this division are reviewed quarterly by a committee deeply involved in this segment of the industry who carefully consider the safety of every exhibitor and we are glad this particular situation was caught before the exhibitor traveled to Tulsa or made her entries at the show. While motorized vehicles are currently not allowed based on current policy, her needed adaptations for riding classes are within current guidelines.
One of NSBA’s core responsibilities is consistent adherence to and enforcement of the rules and standards. The rules ensure a uniform and fair competition experience at the NSBA World Championship Show for all exhibitors.
Specifically, due to the broad range of adaptations in the EWD division, in 2022, NSBA sought out a group of industry professionals to help guide a task force of association leaders, NSBA members and industry professionals to help us address and evaluate how to best expand the opportunities. We also recognize that we need to regularly examine those rules and make changes as we grow without compromising the safety and integrity of our competition.
