Divine Rodents is a new firm to the San Antonio market that produces both fancy rodents as pets, and limited quantities of high-quality feeders for the reptile trade. Our parent company, Living Gems Reptiles, enjoys a strong and hard-earned reputation in the reptile industry. Two, we utilize only top breeder stock. We breed all of our rodents from superior founder stock imported from the West Coas
t, carefully supplemented with local Texas stock to fill genetic holes. Three, we practice uncompromising animal care. We are based in a modestly sized, state-of-the-art facility based on the outskirts of San Antonio. Our rodents are fed two types of block diet, supplemented by fresh fruits and veggies and the occasional treat; and are housed on pine shavings made by a firm that emphasizes their excellence in animal care, never on cedar. Four, we personally produce everything we sell. We never subcontract with smaller breeders or purchase “lab surplus” just to increase volume. Five, we euthanize our rodents humanely. We use CO2 gas, which properly executed is like gently falling asleep, not via more traumatic methods. We freeze immediately afterwards to preserve freshness. We put our money where our mouth is, and feed our own reptiles using these exact same rodents. We can meet local customers in Devine, Hondo, or nearby towns by appointment (including western San Antonio). Home delivery is also possible for a small fee with larger or recurring orders.
