💓Meet Holly💓
➡️➡️Cuteness doesn’t even describe our little female bare eyed Too. Holly joined our flock about 6 weeks ago.
✔️She arrived from Brockton Animal Shelter. They were totally awesome and agreed to get Holly an updated wellness exam and disease testing. ✅ She passed with flying colors.
As you can see in the video our beauty Holly is wearing a collar. Although her feathers are growing in beautifully ~~ 8 weeks ago she had a huge gaping open wound. It was difficult to see. It always is. She had been mutilating.
Holly lost her mom ~ she passed away in the home. We aren’t sure 🧐 what Holly witnessed or exactly when her self inflicted behavior started. What we do know is that she is currently thriving in a happy, enriched, engaging environment. Shes a foraging fool! Very toy interactive! The ole’ adage reigns true “a busy beak is a happy beak”‼️
She loves to dance, say “I love you” and she has won the heart ♥️ of everyone she interacts with. She’s precious 🥰
Holly will soon 🔜 be available for adoption.
Holly will thrive with an experienced companion who is well versed with enrichment and the hormonal health of parrots.

‼️Kia & Mac have left the building🙌🏼

❗️Yes, ❗️Training was on the list of their favorite things to do. How did we figure this out?
🔳Luring a bird to a perch (such as a door perch) with a reinforcer (nut). They grasped this behavior to gain the reward immediately. 🔳This allowed us to target both boys to the door perch while we changed waters, served chop, pellets, and cleaned. This took 2 of us at first.
✔️Over time the boys would head to the door perch anytime we entered the room to expect a reward! It was essential we moved forward with training. These boys were Smaut 😅😅 very smart!
🔷Mia and Mac were kept separated from the rest of our flock for nine months. They thrived through training. They began to understand what behavior we were asking of them and complied consistently and confidently. Their personalities began to appear. They finally felt safe.
They both
- [ ] Target anywhere
- [ ] Station
- [ ] Touch (with foot- for trims)
- [ ] Beak touch ( mac)
- [ ] Step up
- [ ] Step down
It’s incredible. How much you can enrich of Bird‘s life through training. These boys are now some of the most trusting, gentle parrots you’ll ever meet.
Congratulations 🎉 to the Temple Family ~~ and Kia and Mac as they begin the next chapter of their lives!
Help us 🎊 celebrate 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

They both will:
•🔸target anywhere confidently
•🔸station
•🔸touch (place toes on surface or arm)
•🔶Mac will beak touch (touch object with beak)
•🔸touch and hold with dominant foot (front toes only so far)
•🔸step up
•🔸step down
Our team learned so much working with Kia and Mac! These boys are a true example of how you can learn to communicate and have mutual respect with a wild animal that we just so happened to have put into our homes to live as our companions!
Training is key to an enriched, happy life for your birds!
Congratulations 🎉 to the Temple Family and Kia and Mac for turning the page to the next chapter of their lives!

Mindy
Meet Mindy, a feisty but lovable cockatoo born in 1998! Mindy is a smart, brave, and food-motivated bird who works best with those who have patience. This was her first time stepping onto the large tree stand in the video, showing off just how brave she is.
She knows how to station and step up, and she prefers to pick up her treats from a bowl herself. Mindy's food is kept in a foraging toy because she likes to throw her food out of the bowl if it’s not! She’s also not picky at all—Mindy loves almost everything! One of her favorite pastimes is hanging out in the kitchen while you make chop, and she enjoys lots of attention.
