Each week, we’re answering our most-asked customer questions! This week: Why does my pet shed so much?
Shedding is natural for both dogs and cats and happens for a few key reasons! Seasonal changes play a big role: as winter approaches, pets shed their lighter summer fur to grow a thicker coat, and in spring, they lose that winter coat to stay cool. Certain breeds, such as Huskies and Labs for dogs or Maine C***s for cats, tend to shed more, while others shed minimally. Age, diet, and health can also influence shedding, so it’s worth keeping an eye on changes in fur.
If you’re noticing extra fur around the house, our grooming salons offer the Furminator treatment—a deep de-shedding process that can significantly reduce shedding for both dogs and cats. For at-home maintenance, we carry the Equigroomer, a gentle and effective tool for regular brushing that works great on dogs and cats alike without irritating their skin.
And with the holiday season around the corner, our grooming appointments are booking up quickly! Be sure to reserve your spot early to keep your pet looking and feeling their best!
