Ever since we posted the picture of our beautiful new lobby sign created by local artist Dennie Ibbotson, people have been calling and writing wondering how they can contact Dennie to carve something special for them. Not only would Dennie love the work, his original pieces, including his hand-carved doors are truly spectacular. Check out his website at www.handcarveddoors.com or contact him at 303-670-1445. Denny gave us a gift we’ll always treasure, and we want to pay that kindness forward by making sure Dennie keeps doing the work he loves so much!

Hand-carved doors, hangings and more with a wildlife and southwest appeal.

Check out the new Planned Pethood International welcome sign located in our main lobby! Created by renowned Conifer artist and woodcarver Dennie Ibbotson (standing next to his masterpiece below), Dr. Jeff, Dr. Petra, Dr. Lauren, Dr. Stone and several other PPI staffers were on hand for the grand unveiling. Dennie devoted over 300 hours of his time to carve the sign…all as a thank you to Dr. Jeff and our team for saving his dog’s life. We are in awe of Dennie’s talent, kindness and generosity and are so proud that his sign will welcome people and their pets to PPI for years to come!

12 cats. 55 dogs. 16 microchips. Not bad for a pop-up vaccination clinic! Our PPI & Intermountain Humane staffers loved meeting all those cute pets (and their humans, too, of course) in Hartsel, Colorado this past weekend. And a special thank you to the Hartsel Fire Protection District and Park County Animal Control for helping to make it happen!

CONGRATULATIONS to our very own INTERMOUNTAIN HUMANE for being named 2024’s “Non-Profit of the Year” by the Conifer Chamber of Commerce! Our IMH staff members, under the guidance of Roxy Buzas and Susan Rieger, work very hard rescuing, sheltering and finding homes for animals in need, and they so deserve this special recognition and honor! We also want to give a shout out to our incredible volunteer, Nancy Parks, for winning the Norman F. Meyer Volunteer Award at last night’s event. We are so proud of ALL of you!

So i get emails and calls al the time wanting me to rescue a dog..Most the time it is an animal who has bitten people or killed other animals and they want me to rehome..First, i dont have time because these cases come with liability and we just dont have the space. Secondly, i have never believed in euthanasia as a form of population control but i have always believed euthanasia for aggression and dangerous animals is acceptable..When we are still killing millions of dogs each year i will never understand spending very limited resources on liability animals or transporting puppies from areas with no spay/neuter strategy..The course is clear, provide spay/neuter, help people keep their beloved pets with low cost services, dont warehouse animals and always promote humane education.. We at PPI do so much and try very hard to help all we can and often feel over whelmed..People get upset because we cant get in and my advice is always the same bitch at the groups setting on millions and often hundreds of millions doing very little..We work longer than average hours and work for far less pay to help those we can..I hope and i feel the generation coming up are fed up with the corporate attitude of you can pay us 5000 to 10,000 dollars for this procedure or we can kill you dog for 500..Care is not just about animals in shelters anymore and the true threat to our beloved family pets is ECONOMIC EUTHANASIA..Why is this not the subject of conversation amongst the big groups and all the transporting puppies people..I found 2 groups in Aruba when i was there, one group just sent puppies to New York, not fixed and no doubt with some issues, while the other group had a spay/neuter and education program..There are the FEEL GOOD people out there doing things that make themselves fell good about life then there are the people truly in the trenches making the hard decisions and trying like mad to stop the over population issues and helping those ow income people in need..I know which side i stand with..

OK looks like we will be back on the road this year doing what i love and do best..Going to Mexico twice, one for new clinic opening and hopefully doing 500 free spay/neuters a day for 3 days, in Raynosa..Also going to Guadalajara to the vets school to give talk and yes do another free spay/neuter clinic..Will be in Hungary working with Dr. Peter Kurley for a training session and grand opening for his new Humane Education Center..With any luck will be going to a University in the Ukraine on the western border to work with students to train for, you got it, efficient spay/neuter techniques..Will be looking for some donations to take lots of suture and some surgical packs to leave in the Ukraine..Assuming our congress will pull their heads out of their asses and fund Ukraine to support freedom and democracy..You cant be the leader of the world since the end of WW-2 and just walk away from our moral obligations..I have had the privilege to work in the Ukraine before and believe me when i say they want to be free and know the old system was corrupt but they want change..All the old soviet countries are very happy to not be under the thumb of Russia..Some of the elderly kinda got screwed with the shift to more capitalistic system in that they never got what they where promised and left holding the empty bucket..The younger generation wants more and wants freedom and a chance to dictate their own destiny, very much like us..PROUD SUPPORTER OF UKRAINE..

Well not 100% yet but my lungs are looking better and my last PET scan is very positive so back to a lot more road work..Will be going to Pine Ridge and Wolf Point reservations, going to Reynosa and Guadalajara Mexico this summer and hoping to get out to several places in Colorado for some good old life saying spay/neuter..plus vaccines of course..LOVE WHAT I DO AND THE PEOPLE I GET TO WORK WITH..ALWAYS FORWARD..

Hey Dr. Jeff this is.........I hope you are doing well. Reason for my call is just wanted to let you know that I've found a nonprofit low income high quality practice here in Illinois currently called Spay Illinois about to rebrand and got to expand which is great. There's a lot of need for sure, but I have been doing spay neuter for the last several months. And I will have to say that I really appreciate all the time you've taken out and all the opportunities that you had given me my second half of my vet school experience. So I want to say, thank you for giving me the opportunity come with you down to Mexico, and Leadville do those spay neuter clinics. And you know your influence has been profound and I find myself in surgery not really worried or concerned because of the experience and guidance that you and a few others have given me . So just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate you and I hope you are well and I hope we see each other again soon. Have a wonderful day.

Check out this great article featured in today’s New York Post on the incredible story of Nova. Dr. Jeff and Dr. Petra were able to save Nova’s leg after she spent two brutal months alone in the wilderness struggling to survive. All of us at PPI are so happy that she’s alive, safe at home, and healing from her surgery!

A lost service dog in training who survived in the frigid cold Colorado mountains for two months had her leg saved after TV vet avoids amputation.

Dr. Jeff and everyone at Planned Pethood International and Intermountain Humane want to thank all the volunteers who helped build our float and join us this past weekend for the 40th annual “Christmas in Conifer” parade! And a special thank you to Denise and Dave Stephenson for the use of their tractor and flatbed and for inspiring us to join in the fun! The theme was “Flashback to the 80s” and we had a blast (check out Dr. Jeff’s mullet)…and we even won first place in the “Small Animals” category! What a great way to meet our new friends and neighbors in Conifer.
