The Lakeside Spay and Neuter Center, AC (located in Ajijic / Chapala) was started in 2001 when there was an imperative need to help the many abandoned and abused dogs in our area. Through the efforts of many in the Lakeside community, our Ranch (a no-kill shelter) became a haven for some of the most at need Lakeside dogs. We have spayed and neutered thousands of dogs, nursed sick and starving dogs
back to health, found forever homes for many of our animals, and loved and cared for the ones who didn't find homes. This could only have been accomplished by our cadre of dedicated volunteers. If you would like to join us in some way (either by volunteering at the Ranch, lending your talents towards increasing our visibility, or donating), we would be very grateful. ❤️ This sweet Lab-alicious dude has been with us since December 2022! We love it when adopters give our longtime residents a chance at a home.
❤️ Like most Labs, he loves food and attention and we're pretty sure he is going to get it in spades from here on out.

Congratulations to Tina who was just adopted this week. She is one of a recent dump of puppies to the property (so, YES, we have MORE available right now). We aren't sure how people can be so HEARTless when this little angel has her heart right on her sweet belly.
Congratulations to her new family who will no doubt spoil her silly. She deserves it!

Friends and followers, we sadly found another 5 puppies abandoned on our property today.😞Grr! We already have 109 animals in our care, and this brings us to an untenable 114. In the months from January through May of this year, we sent 17 dogs north of the border for a forever home and we had 18 local adoptions.

We are pausing (ahem, PAWWWWSING 🐾) our monthly adoption events at Lake Chapala Society until it cools down a bit for our doggos to hang outside to meet folks.
