Some of our dogs have been having “𝙨𝙣𝙤𝙬” much fun lately! ❄️

While this undelighful weather can be an inconvenience in more ways than just one, it’s safe to say that some of our shelter dogs think otherwise.

We currently have some amazing dogs that are awaiting forever homes! If you’re needing some extra warmth and sunshine during these frigid times, then please consider adopting!

Happy Birthday to our shelter cat, Krinkles! If you’ve ever visited the shelter in these past few years and have seen this guy, you would know that he is the King of the building. From a stray cat that we found outside of our building, to now living his best life. We love you Krink! 🎉❤️

**ADOPTED!**

Meet Bluey or “Blu Blu” as he often gets called. He entered our shelter as a stray that was never claimed, is thought to be a younger adult, and is currently weighing around 67 pounds.

This guy is an absolute staff favorite who is as sweet as can be. He is so loving, it is hard to meet him and not immediately fall in love. He has shown to not mind other dogs here at the shelter but we would ask for a further meet and greet if other dogs are in the home. He has also tested well around cats. He loves treats, toys, and belly rubs and is a major cuddle bug who adores attention. Bluey is neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped.

If you have any further questions regarding Bluey or are interested in setting up a scheduled meet & greet, please contact Erin at (309)-368-0669.

You could also view him during our adoption and viewing hours which are the following: Monday-Saturday 12-5pm and Sunday 12-3pm. We are located at 1855 Windish Dr. Galesburg, IL 61401.

**ADOPTED!**

If anyone’s looking to add an extremely loving senior girl into their home, then we would ask you to please consider Dixie.

Dixie is thought to be some sort of lab mix who is approximately around 12-13 years old. She is medium in stature and is currently weighing around 52 pounds. Our shelter rescued her back in 2012 and she was since then adopted until recently when her owner unfortunately passed away. She still has lots of spark left in her, she loves to play and especially loves treats. She lived in her previous home with a few cats and shows to not mind the other dogs here at the shelter. She is immensely well mannered and housebroken. Her favorite commands are to “smile” and “speak”. We think Dixie would appreciate someone who would be with her more often than not, as she loves and is used to the company of someone. She is of course spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped.

If you have any further questions or are interested in adopting or meeting Dixie, please schedule a meet & greet by contacting Erin at (309)-368-0669.

Happy “Caturday”!

“Mocha” who was posted as a found cat last week on our page, has made his way home today!

He ended up getting out during the time his owners were moving and some lovely citizens found and brought him in. We weren’t able to get in contact through his microchip when he was found, but the sharing of his post is how they got reunited.

This is why microchips are so important, but keeping the info updated is even more important. His info will now be updated and it’s safe to say that everyone is happy! ❤️

If anyone has extra blankets that they are no longer wanting or need, our dogs would sure appreciate them!

With this freezing weather, we are in need of heavier blankets and comforters to help keep our dogs warm. During the winter months, they are one of the most used items we need. ❄️

Donations can be dropped off anytime during our business hours. We’re hoping everyone is staying safe & warm!

Meet Ginny! Ginny entered our shelter as a stray that was never claimed. She is medium sized in stature, appears to be a mixed breed, and is currently weighing around 42 pounds.

Ginny comes off as a bit shy and timid when first introduced to people and it takes her awhile to warm up, but once she gets to know you, she is full of energy and loves to be loved. She keeps a tidy kennel here and shoes to be housebroken. She appears to get along with other dogs here at the shelter but we would ask for a further meet and greet if other dogs are in the home. She has also tested well around cats. Ginny is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and has been heartworm tested.

If you have any further questions regarding Ginny or are interested in setting up a scheduled meet & greet, please contact Erin at (309)-368-0669.

You could also view her during our adoption and viewing hours which are the following: Monday-Saturday 12-5pm and Sunday 12-3pm. We are located at 1855 Windish Dr. Galesburg, IL 61401.

"ADOPTED"

Meet Winnie! This beautiful girl is approximately around a year old and currently weighs 42 pounds. She entered our shelter recently as an owner surrender due to someone starting a new job.

Winnie is scared and confused here at the shelter so we are hoping that we can get her back into a home environment soon. Due to being skittish, we haven’t seen much of her true personality but one thing she does show to enjoy is to be loved. She previously lived with another dog but we would ask for a thorough meet and greet if other dogs are in the home. She was also tested in our cat room and paid no attention to them. Winnie is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped.

If you have any further questions regarding Winnie or are interested in setting up a scheduled meet & greet, please contact Erin at (309)-368-0669.

You could also view her during our adoption and viewing hours which are the following: Monday-Saturday 12-5pm and Sunday 12-3pm. We are located at 1855 Windish Dr. Galesburg, IL 61401.

**ADOPTED!**

Meet Snickers! This beautiful girl is a Great Dane, will be 5 years old this upcoming May, and is currently weighing 123 pounds.

Not only is this girl beautiful, but she is so sweet. She is extremely well mannered and obedient. She has lived previously with other dogs, both big and small, and we were told that she did well. She does well with cats also. She shows to be housebroken and walks well on a leash. She is familiar with commands as well. Snickers is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped.

If you have any further questions regarding Snickers or are interested in setting up a scheduled meet & greet, please contact Erin at (309)-368-0669.

You could also view her during our adoption and viewing hours which are the following: Monday-Saturday 12-5pm and Sunday 12-3pm. We are located at 1855 Windish Dr. Galesburg, IL 61401.

Doodles is a male, weighing around 13 pounds and Lola is a female, weighing around 6. They will be 2 years old this upcoming May. We would ask for a meet and greet if other dogs are in the home but are unsure about cats at this time.

For any further questions or if interested in scheduling a meet and greet with these two, please contact Erin at (309)-368-0669.

**ADOPTED!**

Meet Lucy! This sweetie is 2 years old, weighs 25 pounds, and was recently owner surrendered due to being too much for her elderly owners. She has lots of young and playful energy so an adopter who can handle that is a must.

Since being here at the shelter she has been extremely scared and timid but has recently started opening up. She enjoyed some time out of her kennel today where she showed to love to give kisses and receive belly rubs. We believe she would do well in a home with other pets, as she doesn’t mind anyone around her here. Lucy is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped.

If interested in Adopting Lucy, please schedule a meet & greet by contacting Erin at (309)-368-0669.

Here at the Knox County Humane Society, we are wishing everyone a Merry Christmas! 🎄

Like every year, our shelter dogs got to pick out a toy (or two!) of their own to enjoy. A big thank you to PetSmart Galesburg for always making this possible ❤️

We hope their Christmas joy makes your hearts as full as ours. Happy Holidays! 🎁

For most of our pets, this will be their first Christmas spent at the shelter but unfortunately for some, this will be their second, third, fourth, and so on.

For Benny, this will be his second. Entering our shelter as a stray last year, he is still here one year later. Being adopted out a few times but sadly returned each time, Benny is a very particular guy who chooses his people wisely. He is an independent guy, will tolerate pets for a few minutes but will be sure to let you know when he’s had enough. He is not a huge fan of cuddles which has been why it hasn’t worked out in previous homes. Benny’s ideal home would be with someone who would simply just let him do his thing and adjust on his own timing. If visiting our cat room, you will find Benny in some of the best spots most likely taking a nap.

Next year we will be hoping to see updates of Benny living cozy in a forever home for Christmas. He’s a special guy who just needs that special someone who understands. ♥️

We want to thank everyone for all of the holiday cheer and generosity that has been expressed towards our shelter this holiday season. We can never thank everyone enough for showing love and support to our shelter pets ♥️

• Last week, Gwendolyn Allen celebrated her 8th birthday and instead of asking for gifts, she asked for donations to help our shelter pets. What a selfless act that our shelter pets appreciate so much. We hope you had a fantastic birthday! 🎉

• We had a visit last week from one of our very own shelter alumni’s Max who was formerly known at our shelter as Stitch! On the 18th, Max celebrated his very first Gotcha Day. He has the most amazing family now with the best big fur-sister, Elyse. Since adopting, his family has shown nothing but support to our shelter. We thank our adopters so much ❤️

• We had a Christmas monetary donation from Grandma & Grandpa Mackie. Instead of giving Christmas gifts, a donation was given in honor of their grandchildren. We cherish your kindness!🎄
