Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
Remember which foods are safe for your four legged friend! ✅
Turkey (no bones or skin)
Pumpkin (no spices)
Plain yams
Carrots
Green beans
Cranberries
Corn
Apples (no core or seeds)

And foods that are UNSAFE ❌
Garlic
Onion
Nutmeg
Mushrooms
Sage
Grapes
Raisins
Chocolate
Chives
Bones
And most importantly never feed anything that’s sugar free! Xylitol is deadly to dogs, and is frequently found in sugar free whipped toppings like redi whip and cool whip! That’s the most common toxin on thanksgiving day.

When in doubt, Google is your friend! 😉

Are you a “before Thanksgiving” Christmas tree person, or do you wait till after?
We’ve done both around here, we are BIG Christmas people and have multiple trees so it’s nice to get a head start. However this year, we are going the more traditional route and will begin decorating after Thanksgiving. With a litter of puppies all going home this week, and younger puppies to tend to, I’ve simply been too busy to start just yet. Soon though! 🦃🎄

🐶 DACHSHUND COLOR EDUCATION POST! 🐶
Let’s talk chocolate based reds! 🍂🤎🍁
Traditional colored red dachshunds sport a solid black nose, and often have black shading on their ears and tails (known as a “shaded” red)
Chocolate based reds have a liver colored nose, and have warm undertones to their coat, giving them a more autumn-like appearance.
One of our most beloved retirees is a chocolate based red piebald with hidden dapple, named Piper. She has 3 daughters who carry on her legacy here at Devoted Dachshunds. Her daughter Jinx has a couple chocolate based red puppies in her current litter. Shown below are examples of what these puppies will look like as adults.

We’ve been keeping a few secrets over here, we currently have two litters of sweet angels! We have been giving them time to settle with their mommas, and decided to wait until their eyes open to put them through their individual photo shoots 📸
