Hi - My name is MAJOR and I am looking for a new home to spend my retirement years in. I’m a 10 year old Australian Shepherd that has spent most of my time tied up outside because I like to run. I could be persuaded to be a couch potato. I would tolerate older kids who are respectful of my space. These two sweet peas came into the shelter the other night. They are a bonded pair of 9 year old Cocker Spaniels. They are somewhat blind and we feel it would be best if they went to their new home together. Their names are Brava and Misty. If you are looking for an older more mature dog - look no further!
These 2 males were found on Highway 95 between Alma Center and Merrillan. If you know where they belong leave a message at 715-284-0251.
Blaze is at Jackson County Animal Shelter and is patiently waiting for the right family to come meet him. He is an unaltered male about 3 years old. He was surrendered with another dog. We would say he is dog selective. He would probably do well with older children. He is a Lab/Husky mix. Please come visit him anytime between 1-4 everyday but Sundays and Tuesdays.
We have two of the four pups left for adoption. We have Mila who has one floppy ear and Astrid who has two pointy ears.

We would like to introduce Charlie to our FB fans. He is a young, energetic Husky that came in as a stray and never was claimed. He has been a very good dog at the shelter and is very deserving of a good home. If you have room in your heart and home for this handsome boy, please come to meet him.

The 4 German Shepherd/Husky pups are really becoming comfortable here at the shelter. They were very playful and energetic tonight and are ready to meet their new families. Here are some pictures from puppy playtime.
We have 4 adorable female pups. They are German Shepherd/ Husky mixes. All 4 are female. There are 3 white and one multi - colored one. They are 3 months old. They were born May 15th. These pups have been overwhelmed by all these changes and can be rather selective with who they meet.
Within the last 24 hours 22 kittens have checked into our already full cat quarantine area. These 3 are strays that we were hoping someone is missing. If you can help get any back home or maybe others into a new forever home please stop in or call to make other arrangements. 7152840251
If you need a friend we have lots of kittens and cats that are patiently waiting to be that friend! We are busting at the seams with cats and kittens. We also had some very generous people during fair time sponsor some of our cats to go to qualifying homes. Stop in between 1-4 everyday except Tuesdays and Sundays.
The kittens at the shelter are eating through our supply of dry kitten chow and wet food. Also needed is litter, bleach and laundry detergent if anyone is willing to donate. Thank you for your support!

Type: Casual, Non-Benefited
Hours: Up to 30 hours per week
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the adoption process and educate owners.
- Purchase, track, and secure medications.
- Administer vaccinations, treat parasites and injuries, and respond to emergency calls.
- Conduct preliminary investigations of animal bite, abuse, and neglect cases; assist law enforcement.
- Euthanize or assist in the euthanization of unclaimed, excess, suffering, and/or dangerous animals.
- Maintain detailed records on all lost, found, and impounded animals.
- Follow disease control protocols and maintain shelter cleanliness.
- Ensure the shelter complies with necessary codes and statutes.
Requirements:
- Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and oral
- Two (2) Years of Experience Related to Animal Care or Treatment
- Experience in Operating an Animal Shelter or Animal Related (Preferred)
- Ability to handle all types of animals safely, including ill and vicious animals
- Strong understanding of animal-related illnesses and conditions, and the ability to identify different breeds

Meet Aspen, she is a spayed, older weimaraner husky mix that could use a diet. She has lived with another dog but has shown food aggression at the dish. We feel she is going to have to show you the love before she could go home with you as she has had a bad experience in her past and is selective as to who she keeps company with. Maybe that's you, we are here for you to meet Aspen and the others waiting for new homes from 1 to 4 everyday except Sunday Tuesday and holidays. UPDATE SHE HAS BEEN ADOPTED Meet Wobbles! Wobbles is a younger female who has a milder form of cerebellar hypoplasia. We know some love to help those with special needs but don’t let this girl fool you, she doesn’t need any help! She is independent as can be. She is self sufficient but may need slight moderations to her home life! She is the friendliest girl in here and you will find her easily when she decided to use you as a climbing post. Bare legs are fine for her, but if you would like to keep them scratch free, we suggest wearing pants to meet her! She is a super friendly and loving girl who would love to be in your new home as long as you are willing to work with her CH, even if it’s mild. Stop in when we are open! Leo has been patiently waiting for his forever home. He has been enjoying playing with toys and getting the love from staff and volunteers. If you think you may need this goofy boy in your home, please stop in to meet him! He will soon have gorgeous long black hair once it grows in!
Are you looking for a dog that loves to play? Look no further. Sophie was surrendered to us earlier this week and as she has spent some time here, we have learned she loves to play. Especially when you bring out the nerf dog gun! She is already fixed and up to date on vaccination. She is ready to be your pal and play with you!
The weather is finally starting to get a little warmer and our dogs are LOVING it! They are getting to enjoy some outside time and they want you to know the sun is gorgeous and the snow is fun to play in! Odie is video’d here and Hank will be in the comments!
