We were so sad to receive the news that Skye passed away earlier this week. We have known her since she was an 8 week old puppy, and have enjoyed all the times that she has stayed with us for the past 10 years. She will be greatly missed here at Obedience Unleashed, and our hearts go out to her owners, and who are going through this difficult time. Rest in peace sweet girl🩷

A fun part of the dog’s day is getting to go in playgroups! We match dogs according to age, temperament, size and energy levels to ensure a successful social experience. While dogs are playing, they are always carefully supervised by staff who are watching for behavioural cues and body language. Your dog’s safety is our top priority and we love to see them having fun with other pups!

Individual walks are a big part of your dog’s day while with us during boarding or daycare. It really helps us to get to know them better and gives them the freedom to explore the property trails.
We also offer group walks to work on obedience and socialization, which are open to all clients and their dogs. Our next group walks will be Saturdays August 10, 17 and 24 @ 10:15 am at Cliff Park, 25086 116 Ave, Maple Ridge. These walks are 100% drop in and there is no need to pre-register. The pricing is $15 for one walk, $50 for a five walk package, or $80 for a 10 walk package. We hope you can join us!

Ash is a sweet Heeler pup who recently completed our 4 week board & train program. She came to us with some reactivity, struggling to meet new dogs and working on confidence issues. She is SO smart and eager to please - it was a pleasure to train with her. It is wonderful to receive the following feedback from her owner now that she is back home. Thank you!! 😊 -What did you like best about your training experience? Answer: From our first meeting at the assessment, to all the trainers and responses in email updates, I have not experienced such a dedicated staff committed to this work, but also to help owner Moms like me feel confident and proud to have my dog in the hands of Obedience Unleashed. I was always made to feel as if Ash was special, and that your team loved her as much as I do. That took my fear away to be gone from her for that whole time, and I trusted you all with her care.

-Was there anything that you expected to receive/learn that you did not? Not at all, I received more updates and messages/photos/videos than I had anticipated. It helps so much.

-How did you find your trainer(s)? How was the punctuality, professionalism, and knowledge base of your trainer? Did you perceive them as an expert? Answer: I can’t say enough about the trainers, they made me feel like they adopted her as their own for the month, and loved on her. What really resonated with me was how quickly they figured Ash out and what worked for her, what didn’t, and they took a slight different approach with her because of her individual traits and considered things that they knew based on their knowledge of training dogs. It is not a one size fits all approach and they truly get to know the dogs on an intimate level to help train them better.

-Would you refer OBEDIENCE UNLEASHED to a friend? Answer: absolutely, already have!

-What could we have done (if anything) to improve our service to you? Answer: Nothing, I wish I could have got her in for boarding next week, but we were successfully able to book our next trip (Sept).

Exciting news! We have finally created a “visual” example of the 40 exercises in the BC Service Dog Assessment in order to help applicants prepare to take their test. Obedience Unleashed is honoured to be administering the assessments since April 2024 for the Ministry. Arthur is a 6 year old Aussie who struggles with leash reactivity. He is staying with us for a board & train refresher and enjoyed some motivational obedience on our floating dock this morning! He is a rockstar!

Great turnout for our obedience & socialization group walk with 20+ happy dogs enjoying the cool forest trails and clear creek water. We are loving this summer weather ☀️

Great feedback about Maisey, a reactive Duck Toller, who just completed our board & train program. “Maisey is basically a different dog, she has never been so calm and manageable. We are over the moon with her behavior since coming home, she is responding really well to training. We are really excited to see how she improves even more with the upcoming classes and group walks!“ Here is a clip from our group walk last weekend with 21 dogs who practiced obedience exercises together and then all coexisted peacefully on a walk.
