Do you know the difference between a real breeder and a backyard breeder?

A real breeder knows everything about their dogs. They know the lineage. They’ve done all the proper testing. They have owned their dogs for many generations back OR they can produce documentation for dogs they have purchased. They pay special attention to diet and nutrition. Health is always their top priority. They would never just put 2 dogs together blindly. The goal of every breeder should be to better the breed and produce healthy puppies.

A backyard breeder thinks it would be a good idea to breed once in a while to make a little extra money. A backyard breeder has no idea if the dogs carry any genetic markers that could be passed on to the puppies. A backyard breeder will not offer a health guarantee. Nor will they be there in the event that health issues arise with your puppy.

Know the right questions to ask your breeder. If they are way cheaper than other breeders, there’s probably a reason for that. You get what you pay for. A good breeder will be there for you and your pet for the lifetime of that pet.
