Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 25 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah, we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation

We are a FOSTER HOME BASED rescue; we do not have a shelter or physical location. All of

cats and dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date for age appropriate vaccinations & microchipped,

DOG Adoption Fees:
~ Puppies under 6 months - $300
~ Dogs 6 months to 10 years - $200
~ Dogs over 10 years (senior) - $100
*Any adopter who completes a training class with a puppy will receive a $50 refund from their adoption fee and an adopter completing a training with an adult dog (non senior) will receive a $25 refund from their adoption fee. CAT Adoption Fees:
~Kitten (Less than 1 year): Single $85 or Pair $125.
~Adult (1 thru 9 years): Single (or Pair) $65
~Mature (10+ years): Single (or Pair) $40
~Kitten adopted with an Adult: $100
*We strongly recommend that most cats have a feline "sibling" in their forever homes & therefore we offer the special pricing for pairs.

Hello, I am Cayenne, a young, sweet, and curious kitty. I am known for my playful energy and mellow nature. My journey to the shelter is quite a magical tale. One day, while exploring, I found a peculiar sparkling stone. As I pawed it, I was transported to this shelter. I am brave, so I did not fret. Instead, I made the most of it. I am friendly, goofy, and smart. I love cuddles and I am loyal to those who show me love. I do wish for a kitten companion to share in my adventures. Hello there, I am Ringtone! I am a gentle soul, a bit shy but full of curiosity. I love to play and explore my surroundings, and I am smart too, quickly figuring out the fun toys and puzzles. I am a mellow kitten, always ready for a cuddle, and my loyalty is as strong as my purr. I am sweet and friendly, but I do get a little lonely. Half pint is the adopted runt of the family. He was from another litter and was only half the size of the rest, but did a great job of trying to keep up. He will follow you around and rub up against your leg to be picked up and loved on. He loves to snuggle with my older cat and also loves on my older smaller dog. He is a really peaceful, calm and loving little boy and will make someone very happy to have him.

It's PETAPALOOZA time! Come see us this Saturday, Sept 14, 9am to 4pm at the Wheeler Historic Farm. There will be fun, food, vendors, pet psychic, photographers, and BEST OF ALL - adoptable animals! CAWS will be there with lots of adorable dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens! Plus we have NAME YOUR OWN ADOPTION FEES for our wonderful dogs who have been waiting the longest for their forever homes. IT'S PETAPALOOZA TIME! Come see us at the biggest adoption event of the year, hosted by Salt Lake County Animal Services! Petapalooza 2024 is Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 9 AM – 4 PMThis is a Pet Adoption Extravaganza you won't want to miss. This is a FREE, family and dog-friendly event will be hosted at Wheeler Historic Farm, 6351 S 900 E, Murray.CAWS will be there with dogs and cats, plus there will be over 10 local pet rescues where you can also meet rabbits and small mammals.There will be local pet product vendors, a pet psychic, “tattoos” for pets, food trucks, and other fun things for your pup and YOU to do! Animal Control Officers will be on hand to microchip, and license pets in our jurisdiction as well. Remember all pets in Salt Lake County with a pet license can get a FREE microchip.
