Save Our Animal Rescues Save Our Animal Rescues (SOAR) was formed to help animals in acute need of critical medical or surgi See process map:

- Definition of Critical Care

Critical care represents a one-time financial contribution to bring the animal to "wellness that supports an adoptive state." If illness can be stabilized but represents an ongoing problem that requires monitoring and continuing care, the applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to provide financial support for the ongoing care. Treatments will have an initial

financial limit of $250 per incident unless extenuating circumstances require further review (performed by treating veterinarian and 1 SOAR board member). The initial diagnostics must be paid by the applicant before SOAR will provide the additional required funding. Examples of critical care include, but are not limited to; heartworm positive, parvovirus, trauma, acute gastrointestinal incident, bloat, snake bite, ocular emergency, and/or emergency procedures required to stabilize a chronic illness. Consideration will be given to the animal’s age, adoptability, and future prognosis before funding is approved.

- Process for Dispersing Funds:

All funds are paid directly to the treating veterinarian or representative Animal Hospital.

"Please think twice before buying these treats, and if your dog receives one as a gift, it’s best to throw it away!!

Rawhide chews may seem like a fun treat, but they can pose serious risks to your dog’s health.

Unfortunately, many of these so-called “treats” often lead to emergency vet visits, especially around the holidays.

Most rawhide products are made from cattle or horse hides, and the process to make them involves harmful chemicals.

First, the hides are soaked in toxic sodium sulfide to remove hair and fat.
Then, they’re treated with additional chemicals to split the hides into layers, followed by hydrogen peroxide to make them look white and fresh while masking any rancid smell.

After that, festive colors and glue are added to shape them into cute designs.
Tests have even found traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium, and formaldehyde in these chews.

On top of the chemical concerns, rawhide is a major choking hazard and can cause serious intestinal blockages. When wet, the chews become slippery, making it difficult to grab if your dog starts choking.
These risks are sadly more common than many people realize.

For your dog’s safety, it’s best to avoid rawhide entirely. Instead, try healthier, natural options like bully sticks, yak chews, or beef cheek rolls.
For dogs that love to chew, durable toys made from rubber or nylon are great alternatives. And while these options are safer, no chew is completely risk-free, so always supervise your dog while they enjoy their treats.

Keeping our pets happy and safe is what matters most. A little extra care can go a long way in protecting their health."

On behalf of all of us at SFC, we’d like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to friends and family of Seuk Kim, a volunteer pilot who was tragically killed in a plane crash outside of Albany yesterday evening while flying 3 dogs to rescue.

We had the pleasure of meeting Seuk many times, as he spent countless hours flying animals from shelters to rescues all across the east coast, and he even adopted one of our kittens! We saw him just yesterday afternoon at a local airport while picking up our own dogs, moments before he embarked on his last rescue mission. As always, Seuk was upbeat, smiling, and happy- we never once saw him in a bad mood!

Transporters are the unseen, unsung heroes of the rescue world, acting as the bridge that helps so many pets who wouldn’t have a chance in their original shelters. Many of them, including Seuk, do this important work on their own time, using their own resources. Whether by car or by air, their work makes such an important difference and truly allows rescues like SFC and others to save pets we couldn’t otherwise reach.

We hope that you were greeted by thousands of wagging tails at the rainbow bridge, Seuk. The rescue community has lost an amazing one!

We come to you today with some heartbreaking news. Our sweet boy Remo has passed on.
Though it hurts us all, we take comfort knowing that his last day was full of love. He was doted on by his amazing foster, he was bathed, fed and he just collapsed.
All those years of living just to survive, he finally knew that he was safe and could let go.
He left this life with dignity and love.
We thank you all for giving him that gift .
And a special thank you to his foster who treated him with such care and love.
We are forever grateful.

Through our heartbreak there is anger.
Anger at the way these dogs are thrown out when they deserve so much more.
Though it nearly breaks us every time that we lose a dog, it also fuels us to save the next one.
Remo's battle is over and he is at peace.
Our battle wages on.
We won't stop fighting for the dogs like him.
They ALL matter and they are worth everything.
Rest easy Remo. You were loved.

STOP giving free dogs away. This pup didn't deserve the two weeks of torture as a bait dog that he received. Please stop putting your pets on Facebook and Craigslist. These are hot spots for people looking for bait dogs and cats. -------Thank you again for sharing and getting the word out.!!!!🙏
