Potential dog owners beware. There are a few good rescue orgs out there. Don't necessarily believe what they tell you about a dog. I have had to untangle too many scary, bad adoptions. Everyone gets hurt. Ask me if you need guidance.

Love your dog for who they are. If you have realistic expectations instead of trying to make your dog something they aren't like a perfect, little citizen or a dog who walks perfectly on leash all the time, love and accept who you have in front of you. That doesn't mean your dog gets to do whatever they want, whenever they want, but what it does mean is relax a little. And read Dr. Abrantes. He's brilliant....

Rhinebeck Central School District is holding their annual vote today, Tuesday, May 16th, at Rhinebeck High School from 2:00PM - 9PM.

On the ballot is the annual school budget ( https://www.rhinebeckcsd.org/board_of_education/school_budget_2023-2024 ) a vote to approve the "Buildings and Facilities Improvement Reserve Fund" and a vote for two new uncontested board members, Rose Ann Serpico and Amanda Miller McGrath.

I've always found it easy to relate to animals. My mother used to say I liked to talk to the dog more than people. She was right. I was very shy, but not around our pets which included dogs, cats, guinea pigs, gerbils, parakeets, lizards and fish. If I sometimes felt ill at ease with people, I always felt relaxed and myself around animals. They gave me unconditional love and acceptance and never judged me.

One of my goals as a dog trainer is to teach owners to relate to their dogs in a way that is appropriate, satisfying and enriching for for both dog and themselves. People need to see their dogs for what they are, understand and work with their temperament, personality and demeanor. When I introduce a new behavior to an owner and his or her dog, some are skeptical that they and/or their dog will never get it. But they always do, and it is incredibly gratifying for everyone.
