Thank you for your dedication and service.

Lest we forget.

I was pulled from my field, from my work, from my play,
Ne'er again to see England, in lands far away,
Through death and destruction, through blood sweat and tears,
I carried my master, along with my peers,
So I ask you to remember a while,
Along with the soldiers, in smart rank and file,
Remember our beauty, the strength of our kind,
As we galloped through danger, without care to mind,
For we were the horses thrust into war,
And we gave up our lives for your peace evermore.

Truly the sign of a special horse!

Did you know? Who has a horse with one of these thumbprints?

A "Prophet's Thumbprint" is a birthmark in the form of an indentation, usually found on the side of a horse’s neck, and it is totally harmless although it comes with a lovely legendary story!

The Prophet Mohammed was wandering the desert with his herd of horses for many days, and as they approached an oasis he sent them forth to drink. But as the thirsty horses approached the water, he called them back. Only five of his mares stopped and returned to him, and to thank them for their loyalty he blessed them by pressing his thumbprint into their necks.
It’s believed that a horse with such a mark will be outstanding, being a descendant of one of these brood mares that the Prophet Mohammed particularly treasured.

LADY MOE: From inside the archives we meet Lady Moe. While some servicemen were known for adopting local dogs and cats, the 96th Bomb Group found another pet to take under their wings.
In August 1943, a crew from the 96th Bomb Group acquired a malnourished 50 pound donkey during their time in North Africa after flying the Regensburg shuttle mission. The donkey, who the men named Lady Moe, survived the journey and experienced her first combat mission when the crew bombed Bordeaux, France, en route to England. After the plane landed at Snetterton Heath, base of the 96th Bomb Group, Lady Moe became famous among the rest of the servicemen, who took great care of her. She enjoyed eating ci******es and food from the mess hall, and spent her days roaming freely around the base. She joined ground crews and support personnel as they anxiously waited for B-17s to return from missions. As a foal with a gentle personality and soft coat, she bunked with servicemen in their barracks. She quickly grew into a 150 pound shaggy coated creature with an ornery temper, according to a March 1944 article in the Stars and Stripes newspaper. Although she lived a pampered life, Lady Moe also had a duty to perform. She appeared as a featured guest at public relations and charity events in England, where children and adults lavished attention and treats onto her. Newspaper and magazine circulations published numerous articles about her exploits on and off the base. Lady Moe also made an appearance in V-J Day celebrations at Snetterton Heath in August 1945, where she remained after the war. On 3 October 1945 Lady Moe’s life came to a tragic end when she was hit by a train after she wandered onto a railroad track. Her death was reported in several newspapers to the shock of the men who cared for her. She was buried at the base. In the years after the war, the men of the 96th Bomb Group remembered her fondly, whether it was a shared cigarette or avoiding her teeth in their attempts to pet her.

THIS is SO important and is a common source of persistent hind end pain in your horse. Check those angles, look at the balance and hoof drag. X rays if necessary to have those angles trimmed properly. A little heel and a lot less toe can be career saving for your horse. Don't forget to check those fronts as well.

Poorly balanced hind hooves can have a huge impact on the horse's joints right through the body.

There's considerable strain in the forequarters as well, due to the added effort of having to pull forwards just to remain neutral when standing, never mind in movement.

Here's the essence of the issue from a bodyworker's point of view. Just a simplistic take to help convey the idea. I'm making no claims to be scientific here, but it's what I've been seeing in over 15 years of bodywork practice.

By the way, negative angles are when the pedal bone is inappropriately tilted back to a high degree - this can be confirmed through radiographs. Even if it's not tilted that far, the hoof-pastern angle can be 'broken back', ie out of alignment - this can still create the impact shown here. If this isn't corrected, it WILL get worse.
