From a street Tomcat to this in 90 days…gotta love it .Meet Tom Ferrrel . ❤️

We helped Debbie and Cathy move this feral boy from Hutto to Georgetown. It was a bit of an ordeal but I say it was pretty successful.
Debbie and Cathy are now long term and great volunteers.

It has been a busy week for us. One of our volunteers discovered a colony of cats at her workplace, so we decided to nip that in the bud. Five down , 3-4 to go. When we first set up the drop trap, I couldn’t believe I turned around and there were already six lined up in the trap! But we weren’t prepared to trap that day. We will attempt to get the rest this weekend, while holding these post recovery for a couple more days.

Oh, and perfect timing as we had three females that were not in heat or pregnant yet but were of the age to be soon!

Lizzy is now home and will have to stay in this condo for two months. For the next two weeks, I have to carefully empty the contents of her litter box into a special bucket and not throw away for two weeks. I also have to limit my contact with her for the next two weeks. Hoping to find out after we test her in two months that she is cured and find out where she stands with her kidneys. Hopefully, she will be home free.

Lizzie (the cat trapped by Ferallife Guards, then later discovered she was chipped to us from a TNR job over 15 years ago) is currently at Sage Veterinary Imaging getting her I-131 Radioactive Iodine treatment to cure her hyperthyroidism. She is doing well, eating all her food and drinking after her first night stay . She will spend one more night there and then we will pick her up tomorrow afternoon.

This was not an inexpensive treatment for us, but we did do a fundraiser and thanks to many supporters, the cost was covered. But anyone that has dealt with hyperthyroidism, knows that through the course of treating a cat with medication, there are multiple blood tests and lots of visits to the vet to monitor the levels and so when you factor the cost of all of that -it’s really not much more expensive. But a 95% success rate in curing it.

Lizzie is still pretty feral and to medicate her required us to have her contained so we gave her a large condo, but still she was contained and it was a challenge getting her to eat the pill in her food . And this pill had to be given twice a day 12 hours apart . We didn’t want her to spend the rest of her life in a cage and since she is at least 16 probably older, we’re hopeful after retesting her in two months she can be set free in catland here. Please wish Lizzie well and thank you for supporting us and her and giving her a second chance to be a cat and live out her life in a great and safe environment . ❤️

Updates to follow. Lizzy is less feral now and did well with everything, just on pain meds. (Did not have to be sedated). I think she realizes we are her friend. ❤️

So sorry for the poor connection. We’ve had lots of wind here and it always messes up our Wi-Fi..!

Thank you everyone who bought a bag (or two)! Special thanks to those who donated in Memory of Willie and to the great folks at Tomlinson’s that made it all possible! We will receive 5,117 pounds of high quality food in 2025! A huge blessing for us which will enable our funds, normally allotted for food, to go to our medical fund. ❤️

A big shout out to volunteers Debbie and Cathy (from Africa) who really stepped up for me and the cats during this difficult time. Came out several days including Christmas Eve and Day- all decked out holiday style. A huge .

Willie’s sister seems depressed. It’s just not the same around here. Anyway, thank you Cathy and Debbie -it is greatly appreciated. Love the gifts from Africa and Singapore. ❤️
