Happy national dog day, everyone! Be sure to give your pup an extra special treat or cuddle today!!!!
Check out these recent graduates, Monk and Olive! Monk, the little guy, had just joined the household with his mom. Some resource guarding issues cropped up. But Mom and Dad worked through it like Wizards! Giving both dogs the feeling of fairness and comfort even with high value items. Congratulations Monk and Olive!!!!
Happy graduation to sweet, happy-go-lucky, Lilikoi and her family!!! Without looking it up, do you know what her name means? She has made huge strides in building confidence. Lilikoi’s pawrents were 100% committed and helped her overcome potty training, meeting other dogs, and building confidence through enrichment. We had a fun graduation day using agility tunnel and jump, doing pawCore! 🐾 🐶
Bonus pic of trainer Amber getting all the puppy kisses!
Yay Alfie! Separation Anxiety is tough, and Alfie and his mom just got to a happy, comfortable 30 seconds today! It may not seem like a lot, but it is when we’re talking about something that used to cause extreme anxiety/panic.
Does Alfie look relaxed here? He sure is!
Congratulations to Lilly! Noah and Brett are the best pet parents because more than turn Lilly into a social butterfly, they wanted to make her comfortable and understand her needs. Her favorite cue is “pass by” which basically means she walks by a stranger and doesn’t have to interact with them. She’s still mastering “go say hi” for when she can briefly greet them (but most times, she’d rather not!). This has helped her be out in public and enjoy investigating the world with her favorite people, Brett and Noah. Aren’t they a great looking family??!!
Huge congrats to Felix and his family on their graduation!!!! From puppy mill to happy, loving home!
“Seriously, you have helped us so much with the psychology behind training. I was really concerned about Felix and second guessing my decision of getting a second dog. Now I have no regrets and think he doing great. Thank you. :)”

Thanks for the New 5.0-star Review: "Trudy worked with my pup, Delta and I. I had done some of the basics with Delta, but was able to learn how to train some more complex skills with the help of Trudy. She was patient with both Delta and me as we learned together. Being able to learn in my own home where Delta was comfortable was really helpful. We did some field trips during our later sessions to help Delta learn how to behave in public. I’m really grateful for my time with Tully’s training and feel that both my pup and me benefitted from it!!"

Happy graduation to Zaira!! What a wonderful 6 session program with very satisfying results. 🤩 We worked a lot of in-public/real-life scenarios. Her pawrents were so dedicated and put in the work and it shows. Zaira is so well adjusted in any situation. Focused on her hoomans. Graduation was held to complete her program. I’m SO proud of them all!
Happy everyone! Here’s one of our current puppy students, Bonnie, who is perfecting her “sploot and cute” maneuver. Well done, Bonnie. Well done.
Thanks for the New 5.0-star Review: "Amber is amazing! From the very get-go, we loved her positive energy, confidence, and her love for our dog. She’s truly so sweet, came prepared every session with a bag of tricks, positive encouragement, not only for the dog, but also for us, and gave us a lot of hope that we could have a dog that was well-trained! We even went to the beach on the last session for a recall training, and she provided us the skills so that we can continue training with Reed to be an off leash dog one day! I would highly recommend Amber and Tully’s training to anyone looking to have one on one, dedicated, and passionate advocate, mentor, and trainer to improve the quality of life for both the pet and the parents. Yes you can watch YouTube videos, but with Amber, she was able to fast track us and provide immediate feedback again for both the dog, and the parents, which was immensely helpful! We love Amber so much that I consider her a friend now!"

Sora and Kumo just graduated thanks to their committed pet parents Eric and Tommy! They were rescued from the meat trade and we accomplished a lot of goals in their training. They are comfortably wearing dog booties so they can walk on hot days, they are tolerating and even enjoying being brushed which is so important for the Samoyed long hair (even their behind!), and they are progressing towards being more settled outdoors seeing people and other dogs (they love both). It was such a joy to see the progress over the past few months and you can just tell what a happy family they all make!
Are you joining the fun?!?! Tullys group classes at start in one week! Head to our website to sign up!!!
One of our sweet and wonderful dog clients went missing in Griffith Park on 1/26. Sharing in hopes of boosting the signal. Help him get back to his family.
Cody graduated! Cody’s main hiccups were stealing inappropriate items and counter surfing (and jumping on people). The solution was making sure he had the appropriate enrichment and toys (he’s excellent at the find it game!), improved management when we couldn’t keep an eye on him, and teaching other options for jumping on the table (and people) and rewarding the heck out of those great choices! Amanda and Zach did a great job with the training and don’t they make the cutest family??!!
Group training classes are starting soon at select Healthy Spot locations! Registration opens soon - claim your spot!
Thanks for the New 5.0-star Review: "I am so glad to have had Jaime R. from Tully's Training Los Angeles be our trainer. She was an excellent coach for my almost 2 year old Aussie, Starr. I am so glad we were recommended her because her energy and patience during every session made me feel at ease with the training process. She is a great communicator. Jaime showed empathy toward me and Starr's situation (we had some limited space and access to open areas). She connects with you right from the start, and her confidence in her skill is motivating. Thank you Jaime for all of your time, patience, knowledge and clear communication. The lessons have made a difference on our walks! I know Starr can smile and go on walks having you in his mind and heart! Thank you!"

Happy holidays friends! This season, please spoil your pups for us! I know we are!
We took a walk around Downtown Montrose to help Charlie walk past people and see other dogs. He, and his pet parent Kim, worked really hard and had some success but, more importantly, they have a game plan for working towards even more success. Each time we have a training session, we learn more about Charlie and how to advocate for him so he can enjoy going on adventures with Kim!
Thanks for the New 5.0-star Review: "Sam is very professional and tailors each session to meet the needs of our anxious rescue. She always listens to our concerns and cares deeply about our dog, we are so grateful for her services. With her one on one sessions Sam has really helped our anxious rescue come out of his shell and bond with us. We can’t thank you enough Sam!!"

Thanks for the New 5.0-star Review: "Very accommodating to our schedule. Extremely patient with our crazy puppy."

Happy graduation day to Phinneas! The guy is sweet, smart, and sensitive. His mama is incredible and they have made amazing progress!
We adore you, Phin!
Thanks for the New 5.0-star Review: "Trudy changed our lives. We have three senior chi-rescues and to say our house is chaos is...kind. Trudy helped us develop habits and routines to keep the pups happy and lower stressed and honestly same for the adults in the house. And our walks have improved 10-fold. They used to be torture as we would always fun into a dog and the pack would go wild. While they're not "perfect" they are much better at redirecting their energy to us and their training treats/tricks. Worth every single dollar."
- Sam Valentine
Thanks for the New 5.0-star Review: "Carol Ann at Tullys Training is truly outstanding. We felt very fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and professional trainer who not only understands every nuance of dogs' behaviour, but of people as well. In six sessions, she turned around some bad behaviour that was becoming engrained in our four year-old dog. She did it all while being informative, fun and supportive. She helped us immensely!"
- Tamryn Catania
Congratulations to Baxter and Ella on graduating! Baxter started life without getting that oh so important socialization. So when he found his new home with Ella and was getting a little overexcited by all the great stuff the world has to offer. With time, patience, a new set of coping tools, and a super cool outfit, Baxter is learning to be more chill on his fun adventures.
Also swipe to see what happened when Baxter and trainer Harmony accidentally wore the same outfit!
Recent feedback from one of our fabulous clients:
“Trudy has helped us immensely with our 9 month old puppy. We honestly don't know what we would have done without her. She was training him from the first minute she walked into the yard and the results were immediate. I cannot recommend Trudy and Tully's Training enough. Thank you!”
Way to go TRUDY!!!
Astro graduated!! Frank, Tami, and Gina worked so hard to get Astro comfortable around other dogs and people. She’s still a bit wary but now they have the tools to support her and continue her progress (or they know they can reach out to us for more support too!). It was so beautiful to see the entire family work together and see Astro gain a ton of confidence and reassurance in the world. (Side note: We just got back from a walk so that is why Astro is so panty in this picture!)
Go Team Astro 🥰
Look who graduated with glorious purpose!!! Loki!! Jackie and Garrett worked really hard to ensure Loki will grow to be a well-socialized, life loving Corgi. Today we worked at the park with a long line to simulate some off leash fun and had a blast. I’m so happy for their success but it’s bittersweet because I had such a great time working with them.
Congrats Loki! Go out there and conquer the world!

Kibble (smaller puppy) and Woof - an amazing pair (and great names!). Kibble is actually Woof’s nephew- can you tell?
In our training session today we problem solved “down” with Kibble (he just kept popping up!) and Woof made sure to show us that he’d learned that a long time ago!

Why do dogs lick you?👅🐶 Licking is a natural and instinctive behavior to dogs. For them it’s a way of grooming, bonding, and expressing themselves. Your dog may lick you to say they love you, to get your attention, to help soothe themselves if they’re stressed, to show empathy, or because you taste good to them! . . #dogtraining #dogtrainingtip #dogtrainingadvice #puppytraining #dogfacts#positivedogtraining #positivereinforecement #tullystraining #losangeles #losangelesdogtrainer #dogtrainer #dogtrainingclasses #doglife #doglover #dogoftheday #doglovers #puppytraining #training #instadog #workingdog #puppylove #dogtrainingtips #puppiesofinstagram #dogsofinsta #dogphotography #doggo #happydog #dogslife #puppies #doglove#dogsofinstagram
Its Fun Fact Friday! 🐶🐶🐶 Did you know...... Newborn puppies are still in a developmental stage when they are born. Both their ear canals and eyes are still closed at the time of their birth. During this time, they use heat sensors in their nose to detect their mother. The majority of puppies will begin opening their eyes and becoming responsive around 2 weeks of age. Mia and her people are working on some recall training. Here are some tips for training a recall: 1. Start training inside, in a boring place. As the behavior gets stronger, you can move to more distracting places (like outside)! 2. Use special, high quality rewards! 3. If you live in an urban space, or have a dog who likes to RUN, always use a leash when recall training. Long lines can be great for this! Also, unrelated but Mia is bilingual and is shown in this video taking cues in two languages. So cool. Way to go, Mia!🐶👏 https://tullystraining.com/ . . #dogtraining #losangelesdogtrainer #tullystraining

Our approach to behavior modification is based on the science of using positive-reinforcement techniques. Examples of reinforcement can be: -Their normal diet -Dog treats -Healthy human food (that is safe for dogs) -Toys Remember - time your reinforcement properly and be consistent with your training plan so your dog understands what they are being reinforced FOR. Happy training! . . #dogtraining #dogs #dogtrainer
Recall training might be the absolute most important behavior for safety. How often should you reward? EVERY SINGLE TIME. Think about it this way: Your dog is choosing YOU over the million other options around them. This deserves a treat every time. Plus, every time you reward it, you are putting more currency in your “come” bank, which makes them more likely to repeat it. . . #dogtraining #dogsofinstagram #dog

Tully’s Training started as a dream of Mary Tully. She always knew she wanted to work with animals, and she has literally worked with them all! In the spring of 2013, Mary left her beloved world of zoos and aquariums to start Tully’s Training. In the beginning, it was just Mary doing the training and Alex managing the website. We had a group class in the park with one actual student and a bunch of Mary’s friends who were bribed to come to the class and make it look like we had a full roster! Soon, Sara came on the scene and together, Mary, Alex, and Sara have grown from one real client to, well, more than one! We are so proud of all the trainers who work with us and all of the clients who make it all possible. Since the beginning our mission has been simple. We want to teach people how to connect with their dogs. When families and dogs are connected with one another, the rest takes care of itself. It isn’t always easy! In fact, it’s never easy. But it is always worth it. We love our clients and we love their dogs. We hope to meet you soon :)
