Mr Fillmore the Beagle. He is adventurous, loves to give kisses, and was honestly more quiet than 95% of other beagles while being groomed 😂 Colleen has a soft spot for beagles and just absolutely adores him.

Bentley is a sweet boy, but even sweet boys have a lot to say sometimes 😂 Bentley is a Goldendoodle who gets to enjoy the life of a rural dog on a lot of property exploring. He gets clean feet (sometimes called poodle feet) to help make it easy to keep out and clean out foxtails from his toes.

We are asked very regularly if we will shave or trim short double coated dogs, such as Aussies, German shepherds, Golden Retrievers, etc. As many owners believe this will help their pets stay cool, or that it will help with shedding.

The short answer is: No

The long answer is: No, we do not perform those services on double coated dogs for a variety of reasons. Shaving or short all over trimming of dogs that are double coated can cause permanent damage to the coat, your pets first line of defense against things in their environment.

Damage to the coat can lead to a cascade of unwanted outcomes for your pets health and well being. There is always the possibility that it could lead to skin irritation or leave them at risk to skin ailments such as infections. Improper shaving techniques, such as going against the grain of the hair, can damage the tiny muscles that move your pets hair strands, this muscle is called the arrector pili. Damage to this muscle can disrupt your pets ability to naturally distribute their skin oils across their bodies, leading to dry and flakey skin.

While shaving your pet may seem like the easiest way to keep them cool in hot temperatures, the best way to help them stay cool is to keep their coats free of excessive dead hair with regular grooming visits, or at home brushing. The bonus of a regimen like this is also less hair around your house! If desired, we can trim your pets leg feathering, the belly, and the tail. We recommend 4-6 weeks, especially for heavy shedding pets, or pets with very profuse coats.

A common question we get, and we are sure most professional groomers get, is when is a good time to start introducing my pet to grooming? The answer is as soon as possible, introduction at home is important if you are not able to get them to a professional for any various reasons. Our mobile service can work with pets as young as 8 weeks old, due to our sanitation practices and because your young pet is not being exposed to other pets. Another key thing to keep in mind with introducing young pets to grooming is to keep it short, keep it positive, and to treat it as if it’s their job. What we mean by that, is making sure that they feel they are being properly compensated (treats, treats, and more treats!) for all the hard work and learning they are doing while being handled. Young pets also have very short attention spans, making sure to break up grooming in to small, positive sessions over a few days a week can really help your pets perspective and opinion on being handled and groomed. Another important skill for puppies to learn to handle grooming is leash and collar training (throw out those harnesses!). When in the tub, on the table, or being transported, we have to make sure your pets are secure, so making sure they are comfortable with having any kind of restraint around their neck is imperative towards their relationship with grooming.

In her last appearance on our page, you all got to witness Henry Etta in “wet mode” being described as a ball of wet yarn. We now present clean and fluffy Henry, her final and most powerful form 😂

We just love this sweet girl. At pick up she puts all her legs out in what we call “Superman mode” because she just adores her mom so much and reaches for her. Hopefully we all find someone who loves us as much as Henry Etta loves her mom. ❤️

Penny here is just a sweet and sensitive gal, she got a spring sprucing this week to get ready for her human sisters birthday and for visiting family. We are still experiencing our spring rush, and just like our recommendation for the holiday season (late October through December) we recommend booking your appointments anywhere from 2-4 weeks in advance to make sure your pets are seen in a timely manner. Even better, we offer pre-booked appointments for the whole year! Pre-booking is especially recommended for those who have a favorite groomer they like to work with, or for those who have preferred days and times that work best for their schedule.

Roary is four months old and came in for his first big boy haircut. He did great! He isn’t so sure about being on a table, but he eventually figured it out and was just a ball of joy the whole time. No shortage of kisses from this sweet dude.
