Wayne is a simple man, he enjoys sun bathing and getting pats and rubs. He is such a gentle, calm, lover. Wayne came in as a stray, he seems to prefer to do his "business" outside so was possibly once a spoiled house dog. He has some skin irritation most likely from an allergy - which is a simple fix with some TLC. This guy just drooled and rested his big ol' head in my lap while I loved on him and he soaked up some sunshine.

Wayne is at the Vance County Shelter. We are the networking group for the shelter. Her/his hold is up 8/23/24 and is in danger of being euthanized any time if the shelter is over capacity.

Meet Frank the Tank! Pug perfection in the fur. Frank has been taking care of a few odds and ends in foster care, but he is on track for being in tip top shape and we will be seeking commitments from his future family to stay the course.

COMPATIBILITY:
Loves all people. Velcro pug? Check. Gets along with the dogs in his foster home. He has a fondness for the ladies, but is easily redirected when it is made clear that no means no. He has lived with cats in his former home, so a mellow cat should not be an issue. Applicants with children 8 and older will be considered.

ACTIVITY LEVEL:
Frank is working on making better choices in consideration of his future good health. He is on a walking program to increase his stamina but has no mobility issues whatsoever. He definitely gets his steps in following his person around the house. His adopters should be committed to helping him continue on his goal of closing his daily activity rings.

HEALTH:
Frank is UTD on vaccines and neutered. In addition to needing to shed some extra weight, he has undergone treatment for Lyme disease and ear infections. Close attention to his ears to ensure good hygiene and follow up for any signs of infection will be required. Frank has decreased tear production and uses OTC lubricating drops/ointment. This will be a lifelong requirement, and he should have continued monitoring for any future changes in eye health. Frank's foster home and vet team has worked hard to provide him with the care that he was lacking in his former life. Keeping him on track to ensure a happy health future is something we aspire to for him.

PERSONALITY:
Look at that face! He is a dream boat! Happy, loving, chill and easy to please. That is Frank's gig. He gets a bit nervous on car rides, but with continued trips to places that are safe and associated with a positive experience are helping him to appreciate a good cruise.

AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT:
Good luck figuring that out. As far as we are concerned, Frank is perfect. Now, let's find him his forever.

Pete is a three year old pup who had his whole entire world turned upside down when his family suddenly abandoned him at the local shelter. Pete was a beloved household pet who lived peacefully with an 8-year-old child and has always been a gentle, tolerant soul. He happily welcomed strangers into his home and got along well with the other familiar dogs he knew, though he tended to steer clear of any unfamiliar canines. His former owners described him as a wonderfully lazy, quiet "couch potato" who absolutely adored bath time - a sign of his overall easygoing and affectionate nature. Fortunately, Pete had been thoroughly house-trained and was also crate-trained, able to comfortably spend up to 10 hours at a time in his crate. He even knew a handful of basic commands like sit, lie down, and stay. Despite his loving disposition and good training, poor Pete now found himself in the cold, sterile confines of the animal shelter, waiting anxiously for a new family to come along and give him the loving forever home he so deserved. Meet Roman!

Isn't he something?! Roman is quite the specimen, weighing in at just around 100 lbs and the most gentle of giants. His sweet little nibbles and extremely kind nature make him a true gem of a XL dog.

🐾 Roman is around 6-years-old with lots of s***k. He is truly adored by all who have met him. He is excellent with other dogs too! We are unsure how he is with cats.

🐾 Roman was part of a hoarding case and lived with 21 other dogs. Since we have no real history on him and his exposure to children, along with his giant size, we are looking for a home with older kids.

🐾While Roman is working hard and generally gets the concept, we cannot guarantee he is totally housebroken. He needs kind, patient owners to continue the work.

🐾 This amazing dog walks excellent on leash and is an overall true joy.

October is a VERY big girl...& sweeter than sweet. 😍

This girl came to us as part of an animal hoarding case--she was living with 21 other huge dogs.

-She is a Cane Corso mix and is probably about 4 years old
-She was shy at first but warmed up quickly.
-She's mellow and sweet
-She walks nicely on leash
-She is working very hard on her house training!

Simply because of her size (92 lbs!) we think she'd be best in an adult household, or one with teens and up. We think she'll make a big dog lover out of almost anyone!
