The purrfect pair! River and Flounder are the best of friends who met in a foster home. Now they are inseparable! Flounder was rescued first and was timid and uncertain of his new human friends. Then, River was brought into the foster home and she taught him that humans can be nice and offer lots of pets and delicious wet food! Now they are ready for their forever home together where they can spend their days playing and snuggling with their new owners. They would also enjoy a gentle dog friend. They are both great with nice dogs and will even play with them after they get to know each other.

River is a one year old tabby girl. She’s very sassy and talkative. She loves to explore outside and is an excellent hunter. No shrew lasts a chance with her protecting your property! When she’s ready to come in and take a nap with Flounder she will meow at the front door to be let in, and then will tell you all about her time outside. She loves to sit on your lap and will purr and make biscuits. She’ll even let you carry her like a baby from room to room. As long as she’s getting attention, nothing else matters!

Flounder is a one year old orange boy. He can be easily frightened at first as he was born from a feral mom, but once he gets to know you he’s the snuggliest boy you’ll ever meet. His dream life would include laying in bed all day getting pets. He’s not very fond of the outdoors because there is a lot of scary loud noises out there, so he leaves the outdoor exploring to River. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t like to play though. He can be very energetic! He loves to throw and chase his mouse toys all over the house and will wrestle and chase River up and down the cat tower when she’s ready to play!

They are in Wasilla. Call 907 980-8898

Zoey is a beautiful girl with a patch of white heart on her chest that describes her completely! She loves to give affection to her human and is a cuddle bug when she’s not resting or playing with her kitty toys. She loves racing up and down the stairs to burn off some energy and she even likes her foster dog. The border collie is gentle and gives her space which makes Zoey happy. She gets along great with the other kitties in the home and kisses noses with them.

Zoey came from a colony of cats that were indoor/outdoor so she will need a safe place to go outside with her family. Probably best with another cat.

She is about a year or two old. In Anchorage. Call or text 720-563-7141

Lovely ebony fluffball, Pumpkin. She is such a sweetheart!

Pumpkin was outside for some time when we rescued her and she was frightened. But oh my goodness, as soon as she realized that this new place and new person was safe and involved love, she was all in.

She is very tidy and loves yummy food. She has done okay with dogs but they are not her favorite creatures. A very mellow one would be just fine. She doesn't argue with the other cats at all but so far has not found a best friend in the foster home. Some welcoming cat buddy might be good for her. In a former home, she did live with another cat.

Pumpkin is Maine Coonish looking with her lush coat. We think she is a couple years old. She needs a family who is ready to lavish lots of love on her and make her feel like she will always be treasured by her family and never abandoned. She will need a safe place to go outside, but escape from her loved ones is not ever a goal. HOME. FAMILY. Pumpkin is ready for that.

She's in Houston. Please give us a call to find out more. 907 980-8898

Cobain is a Velcro kitty. He is glued to you 24/7. He walks along side you anytime you are on the move attempting to rub against you (he could be a tripping hazard).

He loves anything and everything. People, cats and dogs. He does tend to give love bites when he's excited, not hard, but still he is probably not best with little kids. He would do great with another friendly cat in the house; a cat-friend dog would be good too. The more creatures around to give him love and attention, the better.

He will need a safe place to go outside at times to enjoy the natural work. But most of the time, his focus is on being your best friend and companion.

If you are looking for a needy lovebug Cobain is for you. He is around 2 years old. Call or text 907 953-0333

Frosty! With the tips of his ears gone from being frozen. Life was not easy when his person passed away and no one came to help for 2 months. But now...........❤

This big beautiful boy can’t stop thanking his foster parents for being rescued 😽 and knowing no more cold nights are in his future without a home. He gives full body rubs on your legs, with the softest purr and his back arches in the most graceful way. When you hold him, he melts into your arms, pressing his head against your chest, and closing his eyes. He is very vocal and loves the delicious taste of wet food in the morning,

Frosty does very well with other cats which makes sense coming from a colony of homeless cats. He hunted, played, and survived the wilderness with his feline companions. Frosty will need to have another kitty in his new home to enjoy home life with and share the comforter on the bed. He is also doing well around mellow friendly dogs, big and small.

He is 2-3 years old and patiently waiting for his forever home. He is in Palmer. Please call 907-350-8089.

Meet Jake... Sweet lil 7 month old male who came to us from a place in Soldotna who's caretaker recently passed away. He obviously knew love as he enjoyed pets and attention right away.

Jake was part of a colony of kitties so he is super social. He now shares a house with older kiddos, an abundance of cats and 3 large doggos. He is talkative, playful, loves snuggles and his belly rubbed.

He came into foster with his buddy, 5 month old Reggie, who he would LOVE to be adopted with if you have a kitty already in residence he will be very happy to make a new playmate! He will need a safe place to play outside with his family when the weather is nice. In Soldotna but can travel for a loving family. CAll or text 907 953-0333

01/11/2024

Juggarnaut and Toady are adorable little guys about 4 months old, ready to set off on their adventure into the world with a loving family, or families.

BUT NOT TONIGHT!! Tonight they are ready to stay in the house and wait for the doorbell to ring and then run like the wind to a hiding place to get away from all the scary critters who come begging for candy. Candy? If it was Greenies or Temptations, maybe they would go door to door and bed. They are totally confused about the candy thing.

Tomorrow, these little sweeties will continue their daily activities of being cute, fun, exquisitely ridiculous goofballs who play till they drop for a nap. And then cuddle up for a nap in their beloved humans' arms.

When the scary monsters go away, they would love to be adopted together but they can be adopted separately to homes with another friendly cat or kitten. As well as a home with a safe, fun yard to play in with their families when all the bad weather goes away.

If you are looking for a pair of darling kittens who know when to skedaddle under the bed, these cute little guys could be the ones.

Hoomans are interesting creatures. They call to me, make kissing noises and try to pet me. Not sure how I feel about all that. BUT when the other cats gather around and are purring I figure, what the heck, must be okay!

I really like the hooman that calls herself momma. She is kind, gentle and brings the BEST treats. Also, each time I murder another furry fake mouse (really not falling for that being a real mouse) she brings out another one. The smaller hoomas in the house are okay but they can be a bit too loud and make me feel a bit anxious. I have lots of places to hide away and I like hiding in the cat tree or cat cubby. I like to explore the house and have found many places that are fun; under the bed is a great napping place! Doggos are okay as long as they don't chase me. I adore all the cats here in the house! They are all my BBFs! We play tag, keep away and I love it when the hooman momma brings out the laser light and dims the lights! GAME ON!

I'm excellent at bounding up and down the stairs, climbing the cat tree and soon I'll have my rope scratching post all unraveled. The hooman momma says I'm really good at keeping myself clean, using the litter box, playing nice with the other cats and keeping the monsters out from under her bed. I'm 10 months old and I've been neutered, microchipped and am UDT on shots.

The hooman momma says all of this plus my adaptation to living in a house (I was born outside, in a cat colony) and strong cat social skills makes me ready to start the search for my FURever home. I'd love to play outside with my new hooman & feline family! I look forward to meeting you & if you've got room my cousins, Dove & Grouse would love to be adopted with me!

Bowie is a sweet friendly guy. But he is a little confused on his greeting. Hissing is how he says hello his people. He means to say, 'hello, I'm glad to see you' but it comes out as S's. But that doesn't change the way he is ready to get pets and love and give you love back.

He is a little shy at first but after a day or two he settles in his new place with his loving people. He does not like dogs at all and is aggressive towards them. He does well with other nice kitties. But he would also be fine as an only kitty and ready to give all his affections to his human family.

Bowie has had the joy of exploring the territory outside and will need a place where he can do that in his new home. He's smart and competent and knows how to handle himself in a safe outdoor area.

He's about 3 years old, very handsome, and ready for the love of a family. In Soldotna. Call 907 953-0333

Kratos is a very sweet light orange polydactyl boy around 10 months old. He is like a ray of sunshine!!

Although still a little shy in the cutest possible way, he loves head scratches and gentle pets. He makes the sweetest little chirps and meows when he's happy. And he seems very happy. He loves having a clean warm place to live and friends to be with.

He does well with dogs and loves having other cats around. He will need a cat friend in his new home.

He has a few shaved spots from having some mats that needed love but his coat will be back in full glory before you know it. He needs a safe place where he can go outside if he should want to do that when spring comes, and a loving family that will be his forever.

Beautiful Sibby! She is such a sweet girl who is very food motivated and loves a good treat! Her new family might even be able to teach her a few simple tricks for treats. Catnip toys are her favorite to fling in the air and scoot along the floor after a good pouncing. And after some
playtime she is ready to settle in for some cuddles and a nap.

Sibby is calm, easy going, and loves pets. She has quite a loud purr and starts as soon as she feels you petting her. She loves drinking from the faucet and prefers running water over a standing bowl so a kitty fountain in her new home would be wonderful. Sibby is shy at first, but
quickly warms up once she trusts you and knows that she will get endless love.

She doesn’t mind being around other cats if they leave her alone and just co-exist with her. High energy dogs stress her, but an older super mellow dog would be just fine to share a home with.
Sibby is used to living outdoors so a safe yard to spend warm summer days is a must have for
her. She promises to help keep those bugs at bay and may catch a pesky moue too! She is in
Wasilla. Around 2 years old a quiet home would be best suited for her.
Please call 907-350-8089. Thank you!

Frosty! His ears may not be whole anymore, but his heart is so full of love he doesn’t hold back when given attention. He is a big strong handsome boy with a wild-looking coat and the cutest little white boots.

Frosty is so happy to be in a loving, warm home. He can’t stop thanking his foster parents for being rescued and knowing no more cold nights are in his future. He gives full body rubs on your legs, with the softest purr and his back arches in the most graceful way. When you hold him, he melts into your arms, pressing his head against your chest, and closing his eyes. He is very vocal and loves the delicious taste of wet food in the morning,

Frosty does very well with other cats which makes sense coming from a colony of friendly cats. He hunted, played, and survived that time after his person passed away and it was just him and his feline companions. He is used to have kitty company and will need to have another kitty in his new home to enjoy home life with and share the comforter on the bed. He is also doing well around mellow friendly dogs, big and small.

Mickey. We love him! He’s a big tabby boy, about 6 years old. He has gravitas. In his physical self and in his wonderful spirit.

Mickey loves his people and purrs whenever he is petted. He will watch TV with you, from the back of your chair. He will make sure you are properly tucked into bed by following you into the bathroom as you prepare for bed, jump on the bed and sit on your chest for one last pet, and then curl up near your feet for
the night.

He likes to drink out of the faucet, but only in the bathroom. He goes outside, but always returns home and he lets you know what he’s thinking, if you can understand Cat. He’s a big boy, tipping the scales at 17 lbs. He startles at sudden noises but settles right down. He doesn’t like sharing his people with other animals and probably wouldn’t do well in a busy household. But he’s a lover, and needs lots of love in return.

He's in Anchorage. Call 907 980-8898

30/10/2024

Parsley is sophisticated and always neatly groomed in his orange tabby coat. Never a hair out of place. He will sit and observe what you’re doing before the rumble of his purr begins. With slow movements of your hand, he thinks pets are a cool thing, and don’t forget to give cheek scratches; he loves them! He is a professional biscuit maker with those front paws.

Parsley is about 5 months old and has been raised with cats and dogs. He will thrive in a quieter home with no kids. He loves tumbling and playing chase with the other cats in his foster home so having a kitty friend in his new home is a must. His confidence with people and living in a cozy home setting has grown by leaps and bounds. He is very vocal too and will let you know when he is ready for his canned food and the most recent events of the house,

Parsley often sits on the back of the couch looking out the window to study all the wonders of the outside world. Having been born outside he still yearns to smell the fresh air and feel the ground under his feet so he will need a safe yard to spend time outside with his family on those summer days.

He is in Palmer and ready to walk into his next adventurous home with his new
forever family. Please call 907-350-8089. Thank you!

Tonight just seems like the right time to share this hilarious photo submitted by one of our awesome barn cat adopters. Her kitties are doing a great job keeping rodents at bay and also providing some much-needed comic relief with their nighttime antics!

If you are overrun with rodents seeking refuge from the cold in your barn, feed room, and storage areas, reach out and see if a pair of our barn cats could be your solution! In exchange for a cozy year-round home and daily food and water (that doesn't freeze), they will help control the rodent invasion.

There is no adoption fee for barn cats, but a good forever home is required. There is a three-week settling-in period when the cats must be kept secure in one area. Since we are moving into winter, ideally your space should be heated. However, we can work with what you have available on a case-by-case basis if the cats are free to move around in the room you have available. Contact us today!

29/10/2024

It happens too often. Any day. Any time. Any call could be one of these heartbreakers. The ones where a cat is found. It's in bad shape. Could someone come and get it. Volunteer to the rescue with all the hope and supplies and readiness to do what it takes to save the cat. They are handed a box. Rush home, open the box and inside a cat body. All skin and bones. Took her last breath just moments before. Starved to death. Or dehydrated to the point of death which often comes before starvation. Or died of cold and homelessness and being overlooked by everyone until it was too late to do anything........ but look in the box and let your heart break one more time.

Friends, there is no time to sit around and contemplate. Wonder if it's someone's cat. Wonder if offering food and water will just create problems. Look outside. It's deadly out there for the homeless. Without your help, your notice, your caring enough to step up and help, THEY. WILL. DIE!!

The saying goes, 'if you see something, say something'. And it's fine to make a post on facebook about a cat you're seeing. But for cats who are wandering outside in this weather, you have to do more than say something. YOU must DO something.

If you cannot get the cat inside, put food and WATER (very important) out for it. Provide a shelter, even a cardboard box under cover, with a straw or a blanket inside (a fuzzy blanket is fine for temporary use). And while you are making a place for the cat to stay alive, you can start trying to find a rescue to help with advice, supplies, or even a vet visit. Because that dream that you'll make a call and someone will magically sweep in, get the cat, and take it away to a forever wonderful life is becoming more of a fairy tale every day.

Rescues are so full right now that we are barely keeping what we already have together. Foster homes are loaded with far more cats that we planned to be housed there. (Please remember this when you say you can't take the cat inside because you have 2 cats. If you have a separate room with a door in your house, you have a place for a cat.) Our volunteers are exhausted. They use their own vehicles and gas to run all over the place day and night. Our supplies are ever dwindling and funds for all the needs are always stretched thin.

We want to do it all but we just can't. We have to count on you, the people who care about these abandoned cats, to take up the slack and BE part of the rescue. We need you to be their lifesavers too. We thank you for making the call to let us know that there is a cat or cats who seem to be homeless and in need. But our list of cats in desperate situations is miles long. Adding your request to the bottom of the list has little chance of helping the cold, hungry cat you saw outside your window survive.

But there is hope. YOU can do it. You can save the cat. The reality is that your involvement and willingness to help us help you help the cat is the key to getting our help more immediately. We are happy to loan you a trap and show you how to use it. We are happy to provide supplies and vet care and someone to walk you through the process. And when you do your part, the chance of getting the cat into our care increases dramatically.

So let's do this together. Let's make the chance of opening a box to find a dead cat disappear entirely and instead, get that cat care right now before a box is needed. Give them the best chance possible. If you help them, we promise to help you. It is really going to take us all. 😽🐈 ❤🥹

If you need immediate help/advice for a cat in a bad situation, please call or message us. Let us know right away what part you can do to help. We are happy to help make a plan with you how to save the cat.

If you can foster, please fill out the foster application on our website How to Help/Foster page. If you have extra catfood, litter, beds or toys, we'd be glad to have them. If you would like to donate funds, use the donate button or venmo or paypal or send a check.

We rescue cats from the Anchorage area and the Kenai Peninsula Borough. We regret that we are no longer able to take unowned cats from the Matsu area except for those found within the Houston City limits. (After we posted a copy of the Matsu shelter care record for a kitten that we were ordered to take to the shelter rather than directly to an emergency vet--the record showed that the kitten was given no care or medication for a broken pelvis for 4 days and then euthanized--the Matsu shelter has withdrawn our rescue rights.)

We don't have to tell you that Alita is a fabulously beautiful. One look is all it takes. That luscious ivory coat. seal point markings and sea blue eyes. But inside, this lovely creature is the sweetest kitty a person could dream of.

Alita has two overwhelming qualities; her love of people and her love of the outdoors. She is the sweetest girl ever with kind humans. She wants to give love and get love. Be her beloved person and you will never feel unloved again. And she MUST have a safe rural place to go outside. She loves the natural world and will not be happy without the freedom and joy that it allows us all.

Alita was found outside, hovering under a house that had lots of cats inside. The finder tried to take her in but she was not having it. Whatever experiences she has had as a stray in the world left her with fear and extreme caution around other cats. She is also not a fan of dogs.

We think Alita is a few years old but don't know when she was born. We do know that this wonderful girl is ready to be some very lucky family's best forever fluffball kitty.
She is in Anchorage and ready for a loving family. Call 907 980-8898

**Adopt Hallow: Your Future Mini Panther!**

Hallow is a strikingly sleek black cat who is great at doing twists! He's about a year old with mesmerizing green eyes and adorable tipped ears, making him look like a mini panther with a touch of lynx! This handsome boy is looking for a forever home where he can thrive alongside feline companions.

Hallow is social with other cats and truly flourishes in their company. He loves to play and cuddle, making him the perfect buddy for your lonely cat. While he’s still learning to trust humans after his time as a stray, Hallow is already showing his his sweet personality. He’ll enthusiastically meow at mealtime and will sniff your hands, but he needs a patient human who understands that he’s still on his journey to feeling comfortable with touch. Not sure how he does with dogs, but perhaps with a slow introduction.

His foster parents believe in his potential to become a loving lap cat, just like one of their other rescues who took four years to warm up. If you have a gentle heart and a little patience, you could help Hallow reach his full potential.

If you’re ready to welcome a charming little panther into your home, Hallow is waiting for you! He’s ready to bring joy, companionship, and a little bit of magic to your life.

How shocking!
If you want to know what is shocking, ask Koyo!

Koyo is a beautiful black fluffy girl with big, expressive yellow eyes! At just a year and a half old, this adorable sweetheart has come a long way since her rescue as a stray and is now thriving in the cozy comforts of home life.

Koyo was adopted earlier this year, and while she made incredible strides in trusting humans, her previous family faced challenges with her during transport. Koyo hates being confined and she was stressed in the cat carrier. Since her family had a long trip ahead where Koyo must be confined a lot, they made the tough decision to return her to her original foster home where she has continued to blossom. Koyo is now a delightful lap cat who loves to snuggle up and purr away!

This affectionate girl will be your loyal companion, often following you around the house to supervise your activities. She gets along well with other confident cats, making her a great addition to a multi-cat household. Just a gentle introduction is recommended if you have a resident cat who likes to run the show. Not sure how she does with dogs, but a slow introduction is recommended.

Koyo is playful and adores cuddling—she’ll happily curl up on your lap or sleep at your feet while you relax on the couch. If you’re looking for a sweet, loving friend who will fill your home with warmth and companionship, Koyo is the perfect match!

Ready to give this fluffy sweetheart a forever home? Koyo is waiting to become your shadow and cuddle buddy! She's in Houston. Call 907 980-8898

CCCR Rescues Cats and Kittens

CCCR rescues and rehomes about 500 cats and kittens a year in Southcentral Alaska from Houston to Homer. We focus on helping those most in need--the lost, starving, injured and feral. Rescued cats are provided needed health care and placed in foster homes until forever homes can be found. We have no paid staff. We operate solely with the help of kind volunteers and the support of our wonderful rescue community.

Please join us on our mission to rescue homeless cats of Alaska!
