Westie Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic States, Inc. ["Westie Rescue Mid-Atlantic"], a member of the Humane Society of the United States is an all volunteer 501-3c, not-for-profit organization incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The organization is dedicated to assisting West Highland White Terriers needing rescue from neglect or abuse or assistance in finding new homes. We primarily cover the

Greater Washington DC area, including Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and the District of Columbia, parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We also support or participate in rescue efforts elsewhere in the United States. Our volunteers have been involved in rescue over 10 years and, during that time, have taken in and placed hundreds of Westies. Westie Rescue Mid-Atlantic operates totally on donations from the public, which go only to pay the expenses [including medical care] of the dogs and administrative costs of finding potential adoptive homes and record keeping. There is no full-time staff. Volunteers receive no compensation except for receipts of out of pocket expenses directly related to rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of Westies in the program. Each year, we place 40-60 Westies. Some are in excellent health; some are far from it. Although most are around 5 years old, the ages of the dogs range from 8 weeks to 11 years.

Guess Who????
It's me. Malcolm!
And I love the snow. It's so much fun to play in the snow, but honestly it's a little exhausting too since the snow goes to the top of my legs. Now I'm resting in front of a warm fireplace and I think I'll stay right here for awhile.
P.S. Malcolm wants to know if any other doggies got to play in the snow? Share your doggie snow pictures with him.

SAYING GOODBYE: Today we have to say goodbye to a long term foster boy "Westley". At somewhere between 15-16 years, he had a stroke and was unable to walk again but not too far gone to get a last treat. Westley has been in the loving care of Lucian Kowalski for the past year. Besides being a grumpy old goat, West enjoyed ball playing, yard sniffing and chasing his younger roommates around. West loved women but only tolerated poor Lucian in spite of him being the food giver, door man, yard walker, ball thrower, and provider of all good treats. West came to Westie Rescue when his owners passed away leaving one grumpy old guy alone. Westley is the dog without the harness and who runs over to the other dogs to make sure they know that he is in charge. He makes sure that they are playing correctly and following the westie play rules. God Speed Westley and enjoy the clouds till we meet again at that rainbow bridge.
