Grooms can make my heart melt during a first look. Jon was so excited to see his beloved bride, that he could barely handle the anticipation. (And yes, his reaction after seeing her was just as sweet.) It's moments like these that I feel most honored to document. It's been a while since I've posted... but I figure this is a great photo to jump back into 2017 with! :)

This is from Yuan + Chris' wedding at the Woodmark Hotel & Still Spa outside Seattle last fall! Though their wedding was on a day where there were major storms coming in off of the Pacific Ocean (remnants of a typhoon), we just counted the rain as good luck, and used the wind to aid us in some awesome photos. :) I love this one that we grabbed right before the reception dancing started; so simple and sweet, but filled with such love.

Here's one more final sneak peek from Ashley + Alex's elopement..... this was how most of their time was spent as they joined their lives together -- in each other's arms, soaking it all in. Ashley's smile was so wide, and so radiant, whenever she looked at Alex, and I think I counted at least three times where Alex told me, "I just love Ashley so much." I'm so happy these two are wed, and am excited for all the adventures they have in store! Congratulations, you two!

As soon as these two were officially wed, they snuck over the bridge for a few moments alone together. There were many snuggles and cuddles, accompanied with tender laughs and many, many smiles. It was such an honor to document and be a witness to the absolute joy and delight that Ashley and Alex shared as they became husband and wife!

Well, it's super late/early in the morning, and I should be sleeping, but....... Lexi + Henry are MARRIED! And, what a day it was!

When a torrential downpour (the likes of which we don't see that frequently in Virginia) started right before their outdoor backyard ceremony was to start -- and then continued strong for an hour and a half -- these two just embraced it, and mingled in the house with their guests, unofficially beginning their cocktail hour early. They waited out the rain, and when it passed, had an incredibly beautiful ceremony as the skies began to clear. The joy you see on their faces was evident throughout their entire day -- in the sun AND in the rain -- and I don't think Lexi stopped smiling or laughing once. I'm so excited for them to be husband and wife!

Here's one final sneak peek from Hannah + Rory's beautiful wedding day at Camp Calumet in Freedom, NH. This is on the beach where Rory spent many years, growing, learning, laughing and building lifelong, influential friendships. It's where he comes back every year, and where he brings his daughter to grow, learn, laugh, and build those same kind of invaluable friendships. And, this is the sacred place where he wanted to make his promise, one more time, to his beloved, to always keep growing, learning, laughing, and investing. Together. In Freedom. I don't think it gets any better than that.

It was one of Hannah's dreams to do an after shoot in Acadia National Park, and one we got to make a reality. The first time I "met" these two it was over skype, and they greeted me with laughs and hellos from their bed, where they were snuggled up in sweats after a long Saturday out and about. It was perfect. We talked so long, laughed so much, and I knew I'd met some kindred souls. When I actually met Hannah in person for the first time as she was getting ready for her wedding day, I came in, gave her a hug, and we got right down to it like old friends. One of her bridesmaids was so surprised when she realized that was our first time meeting -- she thought we'd been friends forever.

And that's just it with these two -- they are so welcoming, kind, affirming, and generous that it just feels like you've known them forever... and that you just want to hang out with them all the time and get to know them even better. There is so much joy and so much honesty that exudes from these two. They take the time to stop, truly see the people around them, invest in those souls, and love them as hard as they can. It's a really incredible and beautiful thing, and it was such an honor to witness and document their love for each other.

Hannah + Rory had planned for months for this -- their final wedding celebration in Freedom, NH. It was to be outside, with a lakefront ceremony, soaking in a glorious summer day in the mountains of New Hampshire. Well, no one had planned, nor hoped, for rain, but we got it aplenty. However, Hannah + Rory didn't let it affect them one bit, and it made sneaking off to this little walkway in the woods all the more perfect.

I love first looks... they are always so tender, special, and tear-inducing. (Seriously, I cry just about every time.) But this one, well, it was extra special. Hannah + Rory got married in Freedom (literally -- Freedom, NH), and if you'd believe it, this was the THIRD time Rory got to see his beautiful bride for the "first time".

After a very intimate ceremony in Bali, then joyous festivities with friends and family in London (where they live), this was the final celebration where all the legally-binding vows were said, at the camp Rory has been attending for 20+ years and loves *almost* as much as his beautiful wife.

And yet, even after seeing his beloved and all her glorious, radiant beauty twice before... this is still the reaction he had seeing her again. This love of theirs is real, it is strong, it is fierce, and it is so very beautiful.

One last final sneak peek from Becky + Ben's wedding day... I am so happy for these two to be wed, and so grateful that I was able to work with them. On a personal note, their wedding was my first one (and just nine days) after my mother-in-law passed away. Upon arriving on their wedding day (where we met in person for the first time), the first thing Becky did was pull me aside, give me a hug, and share her condolences. She then asked me what I needed, and how she could help. This little story is exactly representative of who Becky + Ben are. On one of the most important days of their lives thus far, these two were going above and beyond to love and care for all of those around them -- family, friends, and yes, their wedding day team of vendors. They are generous and kind, gracious and thoughtful. I know that there are so many wonderful things in store for them, and that they will be able to weather all things -- good and bad -- together, with grace, dignity, and so much love. Congratulations, you two!

It was supposed to rain all day on Becky + Ben's wedding day... instead, the rain stayed completely away, and the sun even peeked out for their beautiful outdoor ceremony. Even in the uncertainty of it all, these two just held hands, laughed together, and kept moving forward. And that's what's so wonderful about these two: they cling tightly to each other and move forward, enjoying what is around them, regardless of the circumstances. It's a great pairing, and I am so excited for them to be husband and wife!

I love, love, love this shot! :) It's images like this that make me fall a little more in love with Virginia, and remind me why I do what I do. I had such a great time with Lexi + Henry, exploring, laughing, and just having fun together. These two have so much joy, and a healthy dose of silliness, too. :) I'm so honored to be documenting their story, and can't wait for their wedding in just a few weeks!
