Our volunteers are amazing. The emergency reconstruction of one bridge is complete, three downed trees removed, and two critical fences are repaired. Feeding shifts still ran on time while other teams pulled railroad ties out of the river.

In the middle of all the ongoing work, we welcomed three new rescues today as well. Thank you to our volunteers and supporters that make this possible. We will be back out tomorrow continuing the flood clean up.

Both of our bridges at Castle Rock Farm have washed out and some fences are partially down following last night’s flooding. Our team is still assessing the damage and we will be updating you all soon.

Baby zoomies are the best. This sassy little girl is three months old now and loving life.

In Friday we took in five more mules. Jester, General, Clementine, Moses and Winston. These mules were transferred to us from another rescue and we transferred two unhandled donkeys to them. We love partnering with other rescues to get horses, mules and donkeys placed!

While Pez still has a ways to go, she is looking so much better!

Pez has her own team of volunteers who are putting in extra time to care for her. They have been coming to the farm to give her extra meals, treat her wounds, help her skin feel better, and, of course, give her a lot of love and attention.

Hope's Legacy is grateful to all our donors and volunteers who make caring for Pez, and equines like her, possible.

Queen's Folly is a 22 year old OTTB currently in training with Rock Branch Horse and Cattle Company LLC. We are excited for this little mare's progress! She will be available for adoption soon.

Come out to Stone Soup Books today (Saturday, July 27th at 150 Race Ave, Waynesboro) from 10am to Noon for our Children's Donkey Read benefiting Hope's Legacy.🎉 It is going to be a great time! 🐴

There will be games, story times at 10:30 and 11, treats, and so much to explore while learning about donkeys, horses, miniature horses, and mules. Check out the amazing selection of books that Stone Soup Books at the South River offers and get some wonderful photos. We'll be bringing a life-sized photo cut-out of our ambassador, Donkey, along with saddles and other riding gear to see, touch, and learn about.

Tinkerbelle is ready for a home!

Tinkerbelle is a mini pony mare in her teens and looking for a home. She has Cushing's that is currently managed with diet and is currently sound in our limited-grass pasture!

She is a spunky girl who will work for (low sugar) treats and does well for the farrier!

Hope's Legacy is going to be at Stone Soup Books at the South River - 150 Race Ave, Waynesboro - on Saturday, July 27th from 10am to noon for our Children's Donkey Read! 🐴The event benefits our rescue while you enjoy story times, games, and more. Get a photo with our life-sized cutout of Donkey, our ambassador equine, while learning all about horses and donkeys. The amazing folks at Stone Soup will be donating 10% of their book sales back to the rescue and all sales of Hope's Legacy merch goes to taking care of equines in need.

Gather the kids, snag some treats from the Waynesboro Farmers Market- VA, and walk over to Stone Soup Books to have a great time for a good cause. 🎉

We had such a great time with the Appomattox Tails & Trails 4-H Horse Club! They have come out for the past several years to donate their time and knowledge to help around Castle Rock Farm. Although it was hot; that did not stop these kids from helping with some much needed field restoration by removing large branches and debris. They also used their horse experience to help make one of our newest intakes,Pez, feel more comfortable by cleaning and medicating several wounds and giving her a much appreciated grooming and love session! We are so thankful for all those willing to donate their time to our equines! THANK YOU, friends! We always look forward to your return! 💙

Nya is a sweet and personable OTTB (Shenandoahlove RVF) who greets you happily in the field. She is 9 years old and around 16 hands. Nya is sound to ride and needs a person who can provide her with good experience and help her learn.

Kita is an inquisitive Thoroughbred mare who is looking for a person to help her with some confidence! She is around 11-13 years old and 15.3 hands. She is sound to ride, though does not seem to have a lot of experience.

Tomorrow, June 29th, is our Open House! 🎉 Don't miss the chance to tour Castle Rock Farm and meet our horses, minis, and donkeys from 10am to 2pm. This past Saturday was a important, truly heartwarming day at Hope's Legacy -- and it wasn't just because of the heat! A team of five equine dentists working together with two veterinarians provided floating services (dental treatments and maintenance) for all 27 equines currently at Castle Rock Farm. We want to share a giant THANK YOU to the Equine Dental Providers of America for supporting dental days that bring dental specialists to rescues like ours while working in cooperation with equine veterinarians.

The photos feature these amazing professionals: Ashley Blorstad of Aspire Equine Dentistry, Kristen Payne of Delmarva Equine Dentistry, Kyle White, Maria Martin of EQTD Equilibration, Myles Hopton of Pegasus Equine Services, Dr. Ann Marie Hancock of True North Equine, and Dr. Anna Russau of Warrenton Horse Works.

We thankful every day for the volunteers that make this organization run, and Saturday was no exception. Our Hope's Legacy volunteers showed up to assist through the entire day, having great conversations in the process with the dentists and vets. We all learned so much.

Again, thank you. Every equine and person has a big smile at Hope's Legacy because of this weekend!

We were honored to be recognized by the Stafford County Board of Supervisors for our assistance with a case involving 25 horses last fall.

Animal Control officers needed to rescue 25 neglected horses quickly. Rounding up horses and coordinating trailers and homes is a daunting task but they accomplished it with the wonderful help of some pros - Hope's Legacy and Central Virginia Horse Rescue. The horses are safe and one even had a baby. Hats off to these wonderful folks dedicated to animals! Kilmer came to us at the end of February as a thin, young stallion. He is around 6/7 years old and we do not know his breed for certain, but he is beautiful!

After gaining weight and being gelded, he is now off to training at Sunny Side Horsemanship. Kilmer is a sweet, intelligent, and confident horse and we are looking forward to his progress!

Root Beer (star) and Butters (stripe/snip) are an older mother and son pair looking for a home. They are a bonded pair and need a home together. Root Beer and Butters need a little coaxing to be caught in the field. Given time in a calm home, we think they will come around quickly.
