Today Farrah's Giving Tree Santa "Jess" and her husband JR visited the rescue and delivered Farrah her gifts in person! We are most grateful to them for bearing gifts or blankies, food and new barrels which can be turned into cozy ferret caves!

There are still shelter ferrets on the 2024 Giving Tree looking for Santas. SOS will continue to send food and treats to the shelters listed there but if anyone can send bedding or toys to make the holidays happy for these little companions who are still looking for their own loving home it is appreciated, and it could be the last Christmas for some of them.

Some highlights from the AFA sanctioned "Snow Ball" from November 23rd. Hosted by Shelly McAllister, to raise funds for Pennsylvania Ferret Rescue Group, Inc. We all had a good time and "Sausage" won 1st place in shelter.
Our friend Lulu, who had rescued Sausage, Monkey, and Fizzgig from the streets of Philadelphia came to the show to visit with her ferrets. We are hoping she decides to stay in the USA and someday adopt the three! (wink wink nod nod).

All of our ferrets were chosen off of the annual Ferret Giving Tree quickly! I want to thank our Santas for some gifts that we have received that came in anonymously.
We have received several bags of Stella and Chewy, Bandit treats, and Chewy gift cards! 💜🩷🩵💙💛🧡❤️
Also, there are plenty of Ferrets left on the tree for other shelters that still need Santas!

For Marylanders
Typically our ferrets are not outside roaming around, but frequently, ferret owners also have dogs or cats who are outdoors daily
Please ensure all your animals, ferrets included, are current on rabies vaccine.

As you may have seen, we made a detailed post back on October 30th (it’s pinned on our page) about the rise in Rabies cases within the past few months. Unfortunately, there continue to be new cases almost weekly adding at least 4 to the growing total.

As of November 16th, Harford County has had 20+, Baltimore County has had 15+, and Cecil County has had 4+ confirmed cases. Within the entire state of Maryland, there have been 203+ confirmed cases*. The majority of the cases are raccoons 🦝 which are high in population in our area.

Again, PLEASE make sure your pets are up-to-date on their vaccines. If you or your pet have come into contact with a wild animal, please contact your county’s health department as soon as possible. You can check out our previous post for contact details and other important information. You can reference this chart for more information - we hope it is updated frequently to reflect accurate numbers. Hey everyone! This coming Saturday, November 23rd, we will be attending the "Snow Ball" ferret show in Lancaster, PA! We will be showing our adoptable trio of ferrets, "Monkey, Sausage and Fizzgig". The shows are lots of fun, and you get to see what privately bred ferrets look like (and smell like lol).
