Last but certainly not least, another lead intern, Eddie!
🌱 Eddie is a biology major and is currently completing his 4th semester here at the farm! He is our IPM intern, meaning he leads the farm's integrated pest management efforts and protects our produce from pests. Eddie likes plants, bugs, and learning new things. His favorite veggie that we grow is our Yaya carrots.
🚜 Join our team! If you're interested in learning more about food systems & helping grow produce for a good cause, applications are open now for fall internship positions - follow the link in our bio to learn more.

Just a few more awesome interns: Grace, AJ, & Ronnie!
🌱 Grace is a second year studying Biology and Spanish. She’s from Jacksonville, Florida. She loves spending time outside, running, going to the beach, travel, and volunteering. This farm is one of her favorite parts of UF. She loves interning here because the people are so fun to work with and it’s great to give back to the Gainesville community.
🌱 AJ is majoring in Forest Resources and Conservation with a minor in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. She’s always enjoyed gardening and wants to have her own small farm in the future, so she’s interning here to get experience. She also has an interest in Forestry, so her project is the International Forest Garden. In the future, she would like to move to Germany and have her own farm so she can grow her own food.
🌱 Ronnie is a Biology major with plans of becoming a doctor. She is currently focusing on including Hydroponics into the farm, where crops are grown without dirt, just water! Ronnie’s favorite thing about the farm is how she gets to spend time in the sun doing something productive that helps other people.

Meet a few more of our wonderful interns: Pedro, Isabella & Rachel!
🌱 Pedro is a third-year plant science major from Orlando/Brazil. He plans on pursuing a postgraduate degree in plant cell molecular biology, with a focus on studying medicinal plant compounds relevant to humans. He adores his role as the compost intern, and enriching the soil health of the farm. His favorite thing about working on the farm is getting to continue practices originally developed by our ancestors, and getting to share the beauty of nature with amazing people. When he's not at the farm, he enjoys cooking new meals and playing jazz/bossa nova on the guitar.
🌱 Isabella is a freshman majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Soil, Water, and Ecosystem Sciences. She is our outreach intern, and loves being able to share all the amazing things we have going on here at the farm! In just one semester she has learned so much about practical aspects of the agriculture system. Her favorite part of working on the farm is getting to work outside with awesome down-to-earth people, and being able to grow food in a way which complements the natural ecosystem.
🌱 Rachel is a senior in the Sustainability Studies major. This is her first semester on the farm, and her favorite tasks include seeding, harvesting, and post-harvest pantry preparation! She hopes to go into the conservation field, and loves being outside with all the other interns. She helps with Field and Fork outreach, and loves taking pictures. Go gators :)!

Meet more of our amazing interns: Shel, Anthony & Bella!
🌱 Shel studies Biology, and was originally on a pre-med track but realized she was much more attracted to her natural science electives! She loves being outdoors and photographing nature! As her final semester unfolds, she's exploring career avenues in agriculture and sustainability. Interning at a farm has been an eye-opening experience, showcasing the dedication required to nurture crops. The fulfillment of contributing to food production is truly remarkable!
🌱 Anthony is studying computer science and minors in EE, botany, and DAS. He is interested in working in a field related to robotics. Anthony’s project on the farm uses soil moisture sensors to automate irrigation and collect data about the fields. His favorite part of working on the Field and Fork Farm is getting to work in the outdoors and contributing to a meaningful mission.
🌱 Bella is majoring in Biology with a minor in Sustainability Studies. She loves working at the farm and being able to learn every day about plants and our environment. She wants to work in the field of sustainability or conservation, however, she doesn’t know exactly what yet which is partially why she pursued this internship. This internship has connected her with lovely like-minded people :) In her free time, she likes being outdoors and rock climbing.

Meet our interns!🧑‍🌾
Our dedicated interns keep the farm running every day, and we couldn't be more excited to highlight them and some of the work they do here - starting with Lindsay & Daniel, who returned to the farm as lead interns this semester!
🌱 Lindsey studies Business Administration and has a minor in Horticultural Science and Entrepreneurship. She loves being able to work with the hydroponics display and the greenhouse here at the farm, but her favorite part about working at Field and Fork is being able to learn in a hands-on setting while also helping teach others.
🌱 Daniel is a second year Horticultural Science student from Miami. He has worked on the farm for two semesters now and really enjoyed his time here. In the future, Daniel hopes to work in agriculture (though, to be honest, he’s not so sure as what). When he’s not on the farm, Daniel likes being outdoors and/or making and enjoying good food with good friends.

Remember our grad student, Lucas? This week, we helped him harvest over 400 lbs of broccoli! Now he's working hard to analyze his data regarding anaerobic soil disinfestation. The pantry will be well-stocked, so broccoli lovers pay them a visit! Extra broccoli will be donated to the Bread of the Mighty Food Bank and the Greater Duval Neighborhood Association 🥦

Veggie highlight of the week: Kale!
Kale isn't just a favorite because of its delicious crunch - it's also a nutritional powerhouse, with tons of Vitamin A, C, and iron. Head to the pantry this week to pick up your choice of Curly or Tuscan Kale, and check out the carousel for nutrition info and a kale salad recipe served in our school system!
We'd also like to thank for helping stock the pantry with kale this week. The process of collecting excess produce post-harvest is called 'gleaning,' and this practice between farms in our community ensures that less food goes to waste. We're so grateful to all of our local partners who collaborate in pursuit of a sustainable food system.
